QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Defense is not all about blocking. While it is one part of it is far from the whole package. I dare you not to try to downplay everything Eddy does.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) That has been in shape and worked hard his entire career Yep. He looks like he's been taking 1000 jump shots a day every offseason.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) MeMac is ballin tonight So he's actually trying this year? Wow.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) No s***? The only thing that has motivated him his whole career is money... I seem to recall a certain number 2 pick from that same draft who is also playing in a contract year...

I sent Eddy the Bulls-indy game thread. Didn't know it would motivate him this much...

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Eddy with a BLOCK!

QUOTE(1549 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Meh...I prefer eggs over easy with bacon cheese pepper and ketchup on a bagel from my local diner. The thought of ketchup with eggs disgusted me until I move to New Jersey...then diners changed my life. Best things to come from NJ diners: 1) Pizza Burger: A hamburger with mozzerella and marinara sauce. The sauce that drips off the burger is excellent for dipping your fries in. 2) Disco fries: Fries covered in lots of gravy (the kind you put on mashed potatoes) and lots of cheese. 3) Pizza Steak: A philly cheesesteak sandwich with marinara covering the steak and mozzerella instead of onions and peppers. While I love all of these...nothing tops a friggin' Beef sandwich from Johnnies in oak park with fries and a lemon ice...s*** that is so f***ing good. Ketchup on eggs?? Gravy on fries??? :puke

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Just like every game. I'm not afraid to admit when Eddy is playing good, contrary to the people who can't accept the truth that Eddy struggles. Are you talking about Eddy's mom? That's just wrong...

Another Eddy dunk...

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Did he just use Eddy Curry and run in the same sentence? I think he did! Nice block by Eddy. You are watching the game, right? You don't have to admit he's playing well; I'll just be satisfied knowing that you're watching.

Eddy is doing a great job running the floor.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) I asked for the articles because i kept reading that the expectations were lower for chandler than curry. This was not true then and not true now. Then both curry and him were highly overated and that is why they have neither have lived up to expectations. Even though they have not lived up to expectations it doesn't mean they will not be really good. Curry at the very least needs to get over a block per game ( hoping for the very least 1.50, is that too nmuch to ask) and at the very very least eight rebounds per game. Would be nice to see chandler and him get their free thows improved more ( nice to see they both have this year) hoping for the to get up to 75% range but that may be asking too much. Curry's overall defense needs to improve and it would be nice to see chandler get a better shot and be more aggressive going to the rim. Both also need help when it comes to basketball iq, they both make silly mistakes. I would take them both back i am just afraid that some team is gonna throw a lot of money at them that we can't/won't match. I still don't know where you got the lowered expectations from, but I agree with everything else. It's essentially what I have been saying. I'll take them both back for the right price. It would suck that we suffered with them while another team gets to enjoy their better years. Let's hope Pax really does know what he's doing. But 75% free throw % for big men? I don't wanna hear your steals expectations now. I guess we sort of agreed, since it's what I've been saying before.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:13 AM) You heard ten to one that curry would be ''baby shaq'' rather than chandler being the next garnett. Find me 30 articles that refer to him as baby shaq.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) Please find me three articles that compare chandler to garnett. Everyone knew he did not have a shot so...

QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) I thought the expectations were lower for chandler than curry? Thought so. LOL You just made a great pro-Curry point. Coming out of high school, expectations were high for both. Chandler was the NUMBER 2 PICK ahead of Curry. The lowered expectations for scoring aren't being given by me, that's for sure. Everybody expected him to score. He averaged about 27 points in high school. I still remember when he played against Curry and won. You and other like-minded fans are the ones who are giving him lower expectations when it comes to scoring. All of a sudden, he's not supposed to score anymore.

Here's four excerpts: Clutchcity.net Notes on Tyson Chandler Tyson Chandler has been one of the most talked about high school players in years. He was 6'10" in 8th grade and a basketball sensation, even appearing on "60 Minutes" the summer before his freshman year of high school. Since then has been closely watched on the hoops scene. His senior season, Chandler averaged 26 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocked shots for the Dominguez Dons. Compares himself and his style of play to his favorite NBA player, Kevin Garnett. An exceptionally athletic 7-footer, Chandler has the makings of a potential NBA star. Tyson Chandler Tyson is from Compton, California and was thrilled when he was picked 2nd overall by his hometown LA Clippers. But the thrill didn't last long because within hours of drafting Tyson, the Clippers traded him to the Bulls. Tyson was shocked at first but the 7'0 center/forward is now looking forward to teaming up with fellow highschool draft pick, Eddy Curry. Tyson's favorite player is Kevin Garnett (who was also picked right out of high school) and he plays with a similar style. Tyson is a big guy but he can run the floor and has a sweet outside jump shot. For more on Tyson, check out his official site. Chicago Bulls | Colin Howard Eddy Curry: The next Shaq. Tyson Chandler: The next Kevin Garnett. Yes, back in 2001, the Bulls' future sure looked bright. Even though it required Chicago to trade it's most consistent frontcourt man to do it in Elton Brand, the Bulls were excited about what looked like 2 players who could eventually become the best frontcourt in the NBA. Chicago fan's are still waiting impatiently, and rightfully so, for that time to come. Chandler and Curry may be just a season or 2 away from that time, and just some good luck is needed. This isn't carved in stone. You know, Eddy Curry may show up and just be fantastic next year and get 15 and 8. Tyson Chandler might be a clone of Kevin Garnett. Michael Bradley could be a real bust. Those things could happen. But I'm looking at this realistically, and what I think more than anything else is that Curry, Chandler and Diop should go to college. Then we will see if we have Baby Shaq, or if knees become a problem, or if weight becomes an issue, or if a million other things that can and do become apparent in college affect each of these players.

Every Bulls game thread should end with an Eddy Curry-Tyson Chandler debate...

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) I don't consider soccer a sport. I consider it the ultimate sport when played at the highest level. Certainly enjoyable to watch. The majority of the world seems to agree... Don't get me started on golf and nascar.

Twins release 3B Eric Munson

I thought munson'ing meant pulling a cubs-caliber choke? -
More or less the responses I was expecting... One serious post followed by a couple of dumb ones. I was surprised to hear they're playing in Birmingham on Wed.

In my humble opinion, Curry is fairly decent. Yeah, I'll admit I'm partial to him because he wears a Bulls uniform, is a hometown guy, we drafted him, and I fantasize about what he could have done 1-2 years at my school... Go ahead and criticize his deficiencies, but don't look past his scoring ability. I truly believe that Chandler's scoring is as horrible as Eddy's D. And don't tell me Chandler wasn't expected to score when drafted and that only Eddy has been compared to a superstar he won't live up to because if you truly follow the Bulls as you say you do you will remember that Chandler was being compared to Kevin Garnett. Let's wait and see what he asks for. I trust that Pax will make the right move.

Well, I wasn't really expecting to see a thread about it, but I might as well throw it out there to see if anybody else watched the game. It was an excellent World Cup qualifier game today between USA and Mexico played in Mexico with Mexico winning 2-1.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) You can't see why Curry's defense and rebounding can't improve? Does the motherf***er look motivated to you? And ain't he in a contract year???? Do I need to post the list of 12+ shooting guards in this league who average more rebounds per game than Curry does? People are actually playing the age card? Outside of death, there's nothing that I fear more in life than bad basketball talk. The lack of recognition in regards to Tyson Chandler's defensive freak status is what disturbs me the most. Again, for like the millionth time, CHANDLER IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE OPTION. His job on offense is to set picks and crash the offensive boards. And for those who are unaware, setting picks and grabbing offensive boards creates offense. When Chandler forces a turnover, that creates offense via the fast break or what have you. It's the little things that win ballgames. So you dislike Curry. We get it. But I'm not too happy about trading a former number one pick for a number two pick that "IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE OPTION." I mean, c'mon, learn a damn offensive move. He looks lost with the ball in his hands. Once again, Eddy being an offensive player allows Chandler to focus on defensive. If the Bulls can secure a viable center who will help them win and be a better option than Curry, than by all means make it happen. If not, then why let him go? Because some Bulls fans hate him? If he improved from last year to this year, he can make some more improvement. There's no rule that says he's going to suck in a non-contract year. The Bulls chose him with a number four pick. Let's not just waste that away. Centers aren't exactly easy to come by, and I only want to see him go if the right moves can be made to take care of that position. Hating on Eddy and glorifying Chandler isn't the best basketball talk either. Both have glaring deficiencies, and, frankly, I'm equally dissatisfied by both of them. I tolerate them when they help us win, and in my eyes what they bring to the team and their deficiencies are essentially equal.
