I think you guys have it wrong. Teams like Gonzaga and Southern Illinois are gaining BECAUSE of how the system is now. Gonzaga and SIU probably would not have been a top 60 team on their own back in the day...It is allowing conference champs from smaller conferences to play with the "big boys", ultimately beat them, and gain national exposure that is helping them to grow. And those moving to the Big East are big-time programs on their own. See: DePaul throughout the 80's. That oakland 3-pointer was sweet. Being clutch is what the Tournament is all about.

Isn't it basically 1.4 for a road win and .6 for a home win since majors don't like to go on the road against competitive mid-majors? I obviously didn't read the article.

They will NOT give up the NUMBER ONE pick for Eddy. A sign and trade scenario would probably be more along the lines of the Crawford trade, although I don't see us trading Eddy. Judging from the low-ball offers for him that were being proposed earlier in the season, we'd probably only be able to get serviceable players like we did getting Othella. But maybe he's serious about staying. A core of young guys like Smith, Childress, and possibly Bogut sounds fine for Hawks. This isn't like the NFL where there's enough talent to trade down or anything...You tend to keep the number one pick. And no, we can't give Tyson whatever he wants either. He's just not that good...

Are the canes ranked? I watched them play against FSU a few times when I was going to school there for a time... FSU was always ranked high and I attended games, but it's just not the same at all... Not to bash college baseball, but I liken it to watching professional women's basketball...You see the effort and the talent, but it just doesn't feel like real baseball. (Ok, that's a bit harsh.)
