  1. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) And I can appreciate that, but let's call it what this is - a negotiation. I don't think it's appropriate to view recruitment of high level players as a bidding war in the ugly side of college athletics, but then pretend these kids are all saintly and merely making a decision to play basketball at the place where they can obtain what's best for them. His original non-commitment, then commitment and now de-commitment have nothing to do with the "good" side of college sports. It's about maximizing his worth for him and/or his family. He's got every right to do that, but he's not absolved from being s***ty to people at the program I root for. edit: and to be clear, when I say "f*** him," it's not a personal attack against him for his decision making, it's my opinion that the school should be done with him. Focus energy elsewhere. You say this as if universities, NCAA, etc. aren't making millions upon millions upon millions off of these kids and there wasn't a real, actual coaching change. Don't be that typical blind delusional fan.
  2. QUOTE (AJUribe @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 11:45 PM) I've heard whispers he may be available by the trade deadline. From my sources losing the first two starts have tempered interests in a few possibly contending team. Teams that were interested do want to acquire the southpaw from southern hemisphere and are now quietly rooting for the young man to have an inflated era in the hopes they can somehow get a better deal. Basically Q is going to be awful for us because it is simply impossible for him to care when he knows he's getting traded and it completely effects his entire psyche. Hahn's a ballbreaker and l think he'd rather sit on Q before taking a penny less than his preseason asking price.
  3. Comcast sports net chicago is on slingtv now...along with Fox sports 1, nbc sports, nfl tv, and more if you get the $5 sports add on. And tomorrow, t mobile customers can get a year of mlb tv again. Sports is no longer a struggle for me since cutting the cord. In fact, it's now perfect for my viewing habits.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) Robin Pingeton is now the GOAT program builder - fixed the women's team
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) Also, Dario Saric can play. I mean REALLY play. He's had a better rookie year than Parker and Ginobili. Sam Hinke is a genius who got screwed. The Sixers will be running the eastern conference by 2019. So you're not even gonna wait for Embiid to stay healthy to spout your hyperbole?
  6. Hard to take an argument seriously when you resort to absolutes.
  7. No matter how bad the Bulls drama gets...there's always the knicks
  8. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 31, 2017 -> 05:13 PM) ?? He got the most votes. http://official.nba.com/wp-content/uploads...ing-Results.pdf Alternative facts. As someone who strongly dislikes both Lebron and Barkley, I love LeBron calling him out on his hypocrisy.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) Do what exactly? Hire babysitters to watch these guys? Force them to take cabs everywhere? Seriously, what is MLB "ultimately going to do" that makes any difference. Don't hide behind this "the minute MLB pays me" nonsense, use some common sense and try to come up with some ideas that could help. You'll quickly find that there isn't much of anything MLB could do that would result in material change. Again, this isn't a baseball issue, it's something much broader that's impacting numerous people in countries like the Dominican Repulbic & Venezuela. They can throw their money at the issue so that every year there aren't a couple of Latin American assets losing their lives in this manner. Whether it be more life skills education in the minors and Latin American academies in their language or clauses in their contracts, I don't know. They have the money to do the research and do something.
  10. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:45 PM) Other sports do not have a high number of LatAm players like baseball. As others mentioned, driving in DR is completely different. Exactly
  11. He's taken the title of GOAT terrible poster in NBA threads on soxtalk
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) What employers are responsible for their employees' reckless behavior outside of the workplace? Why do you think baseball players deserve special treatment? Maybe the countries with the highest auto-based mortality rates should take some accountability here. This issue goes well beyond the world of baseball. And you still didn't answer what kind of support MLB should provide to help curb this issue. Baseball should do it because it's the right thing to do. But they'll ultimately do it because it's the right PR move and, ultimately, they're protecting their assets. And how many workplace's employees are worth hundreds upon hundreds of millions in revenue? Certainly not you or me, so it's silly to compare MLB with the average workplace. As to your "question," the minute MLB pays me, I'll come up with a comprehensive alcohol and drug education/prevention program.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) Education is obviously never a bad thing but to be honest I'm not sure how much it would actually help. When you're young and drunk you're just not thinking about this stuff. So doing nothing will yield the same results as doing something. Interesting.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 11:17 AM) What do you mean support the players? Young people do reckless s***, whether they're baseball players or not. MLB will never be able to change that and quite frankly it's not their responsibly to do so. What are the numbers of DUI deaths in other sports? And it's not their responsibility based on what other than your opinion?
  15. MLB needs to do what's right and actually intervene and set up a comprehensive program to educate and support the players. It's not enough to just bring em over and fill their pockets.
  16. wow stopped dribbling couple steps outside the 3 point line
  17. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) They are who we thought they were? A capable team with an absolutely atrocious coach
  18. I didn't think snell is worth more than a deflated basketball
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) Sleepy must have like 6 of these hats. Nah, but kinda like Taylor St, I've got a good 60+ Sox, Bulls, Bears, Hawks, etc. caps. Mostly solid colors and retro styles, and I like patches, but I have gotten some different stuff like a denim Bears cap and plaid Hawks cap recently to mix it up. To each his own.
  20. I tend to wear what I like and not really care about what other people are wearing...
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) No, he let his brother and BJ Armstrong do that for him. Lets not forget when Reggie was going around telling everyone who would listen that Derricks supporting cast wasnt good enough. Derrick never stepped up and quieted that, to me that is just as bad as being passive aggressive through the media by yourself If you know that he's dumb as rocks and looks up to his brother, who does the thinking for him, did you REALLY expect him to quiet down his brother?! C'mon now...
