Official 2009-2010 NCAA Basketball Thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) I know this is high school basketball, but I think I saw the worst officiating crew ever last night. Not in terms of fouls, but in terms of working together and having control of a game. In this game I saw... -A player get blood on his jersey from a hard foul. They took the player off of the FT line and walked him over to the bench properly. The coach put in a new player who walked over to the FT line to get ready to take the shot. Then the same official walked back to the scorers bench and had a minute long conversation with them, while the other two officials stood and watched. Only to come back and have no conversation with his crew, and go right to their spots. -A player got fouled in the backcourt to put him team into the bonus. Everyone walks down to the other end of the floor to shoot FTs. The baseline official gives the shooter the ball, and then in the middle of the kid shooting the first attempt, he blows the whistle and stops him, but not before he hits the FT. That official then walks all of the way back to half court to talk to the trailing official who made the original call. They wipe out the make. Eventually they walk back and shoot them again, and of course the shooter manages to hit the first and miss the second FT. -A player fouled out on a foul in the back court. The official walks over to the scorers bench and gets the signal that the player has fouled out. Instead of walking the player back to the bench, he walks back to half court into his alignment for a free throw. The fouled out player walks down the floor and gets into position for the free throw attempt The other two officials who apparently aren't paying any attention go ahead and assume everything is OK. The baseline ref, gives the ball to the FT shooter, who promptly hits a FT, with an illegal player still on the floor. The half court official finally realizing what was going on, stops play and then finally walks the fouled out player back to his bench, forcing a substitution. This time the FT is counted. -In the last nine seconds of a two point game, a foul is given in the back court to force more FTs. The player receiving the foul get frustrated and shoves away the player who gave the foul as they walk down court for the FTs. Now it is possible no one saw the situation because they were moving down for the FTs. When they get to the FT line, the kid who committed the foul steps into the lane and stands in front of the shooter, who promptly shoves him again. This time everyone is watching, including all three officials who are in their properly places for the free throw. The baseline official was holding the ball ready to give it to the shooter. Not a word is said to anyone. Not to the shooter, nor the kid basically taunting the shooter. It was just brutal. cool story bro -

I've had it for about 5 months. I think WebOS is AMAZING. I really like the multi-tasking format. BUT the phone itself feels cheaply made as everyone suffers from the "oreo effect" and my damn power button stopped working for no reason! You'll see all the issues people have with the build quality in the forum below. Also, the battery life is terrible. Check out this site and its forums for everything you need to know about the Pre: precentral.net

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Feb 9, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) I don't really know why Roark would be considered morally ambiguous. He was guided by a certain set of principles. Right or wrong did matter very much to Howard Roark, just not the traditional right or wrong, I don't think that makes him morally ambiguous. Yup. Hank Rearden annoyed me too. Anyways, I'll go with Travis in Taxi Driver too. One of my favorite movies. Was kinda thinking of another one of my favorite movies, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but I dunno if it fits and, sadly, I haven't read the novel...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) I hear what you're saying. Problem is...in the NBA, if you want to be an effective coach, you can't just get sick of those type of players, you have to develop them. Want a great example? Look how Phil Jackson has taken Kobe Bryant from being a total crybaby in 2003-2004 to being an iceman today. Look how many talented guys have languished with crappy coaching and then snapped out of it when they got out of there. Zach Randolph, Jamal Crawford come to mind as examples just from this year. By the time the 3rd straight coach was responding to every situation, whether I was playing well or not, by benching me, I'd be pretty sick of it too. Sorry but that Kobe comparison makes no sense... -

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) I grew up far enough south in the city to have a garage and driveway, so this wasn't ever an issue to me until I got married and moved into an apartment and had street parking. I had a neighbor who always parked directly in front of his house, unless it snowed. Then he would park in a spot that someone else cleared. The spot in front of his house could be available if he shoveled it out, but he wouldn't do it. This is the type of guy who causes the fights and need for lawn chairs, etc. Not quite on topic, but I was wondering a few days ago how people pronounce "Chicago." I hear Chi-caah-go and Chi-caw-go from different people. I'm a Chi-cah-go guy, myself. Also not a fan of deep dish. I can eat it, but I never even tried it until I was 19 or so. I prefer 16in. That's what she said. And, I'm offended that anyone would care how I prepare my hotdog. Mom made it with ketchup. Good enough for me. When I went to Florida State for school, I was told that I didn't have a Chicago accent...except when I said one thing..."Chi-cahh-go" By the way, most of you are lames...

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Oh s***, flannel-lined jeans!!! WTF!!! How have I missed out on that technology? They're comfy. I also got some Red Wing boots this past year. Although they look verry nice and are made of quality materials, they're wayy pricey and they kill my Achilles tendons, one of which I ruptured a few years back I bought some Timbos at about 1/4 the price and they're a whole lot easier on my feet and ankles/tendons right out the box...

I wear a Carhartt Extremes coat. I've been a Carhartt guy since grade school since I looked up to my dad. I also have 2 other older Carhartts still going strong. Interestingly enough, my dad has moved away from Carhartt a bit because, like the north face complaints, the quality isn't as great while prices stay high. Construction workers swear by it so I know they have no problems selling... Today I wore flannel-lined jeans to work. They're Dickies and I got them for $15 shipped from dickies.com a couple of months ago with a coupon code.
