I had a "suite-mate" at FSU who would take a big plastic container filled with beer to class on occasion. Needless to say, he only lasted 'til the end of freshman year, and he got kicked out of the dorm for smoking weed...

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
SleepyWhiteSox replied to The Beast's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) I assume he means "this team is dead". As for the Bulls, I have a rule that I don't declare anything on teams until they've at least played a few regular season games, so let's wait and see. Tyrus and Rose look pretty good though, and if my eyes didn't deceive me, Nocioni and Gordon shot the ball well this evening. Even after all of pax's terrible moves and non-moves, I'm still surprised they're going into the season with that glut of guards and practically no frontcourt. How is it possible that they did absolutely nothing throughout the whole offseason to address that?? -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) Alright, I set up a league, hopefully we can get a full 12 by draft time (next Thursday night). I'll do a 10, but I really prefer 12. League ID: 71618 Password: Soxtalk The password is actually with a lower-case s. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 9, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) Have you watched any full episodes this season? What I'm saying is that for the most part, the entire episodes have been GREAT this year, and the show is definitely on the upswing. As for you comment about "saving" a show, it's already been pointed out that its one of the most watched shows on saturday nights, so it's not going anywhere. I saw the first episode and it was atrocious. I did not laugh at all. And the space olympics thing was lame. At one point one of the fake news anchors says something to the effect of "that's all you could come up with while we were off this summer?" to someone else's character, and that's basically how I felt about the entire show. Made me not wanna watch it again. But that marky mark bit wasn't so bad. Decent impersonation. And the palin impersonations have been good (Random: I tried to watch baby mama with tina fey last night and it's terrible.) All my humble opinion, of course...

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) Aside from having the 1st overall pick fall into his lap, what the f*** did he do all summer???? To be fair, he was busy hiring the least-experienced coach he possibly could... -
You'd think someone would notice if someone is spending hours on their lawn doing all that...

Awesome. That's like Kenny-speak that he's gonna be looking to make some real upgrades. -
Brokaw needs to stick to the news and yelling at kids to get off his lawn... And for the record, Mr. McCain, I consider you as more of an aquaintance...

Twins have "internal discussions" about Cabrera and Crede
SleepyWhiteSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:14 AM) He just seems like the guy that will get a single when a single is necessary (minus Balfour, of course). My hatred for him may be blinding me, but what are all these clutch base hits you speak of? -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:23 PM) I love them for the memories they gave me on Tuesday. 10 years from now, we'll remember the tiebreaker and barely remember what happened in the ALDS (if we lose). Hell, a week from now we'll probably be pretty darn content with how the season went. But personally, and I hate to say it, I blame Quentin's stupidity...
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) I'm sure his teammates love him for it to. Much more than if he wouldn't have acted like a clown at the plate, and you know, actually did something productive, like drive in some key runs. I'm sure it went over great in the clubhouse. Call me crazy, but a bases-clearing double fires me up just a tiny bit more than kicking some dirt and a strikeout on two big loopy swings on two balls to leave the bases loaded...

QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 06:47 AM) OC seems to be trying to fire up the team from corpse ball. I like it. By firing up the other team instead??

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) What better option did he have here? JR says "No luxury tax". Gordon says "Give me more money". Neither one of those is an option. That assessment wasn't based on just this one move. Rather, pax's entire tenure as a whole was taken into account. -

Let's keep the stupid s*** like we should bringing in Floyd instead of Clayton and that inning wasn't javy's fault to a minimum... I'm already pissed off enough as it is. -
