Anybody else buy a pair or two of Starbury's?
SleepyWhiteSox replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in SLaM
It sounds like they're selling well. A lot of positives are coming out about the shoe. I like how they look in the colorway Ben Wallace wore. I'm going to wait and see how Ben Wallace's signature shoes will look next season. Apparently they won't have the starbury logo but his own, which I prefer since I don't like marbury all that much. But for 15 bucks you can't really go wrong. -

QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) so if this trend continues, how much longer does Coop get a free pass I give him as much credit as in 2005...not much. Ultimately it's the pitchers that have to perform. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) The only thing being argued is whether or not people who emigrate from other countries should have to learn English to function, in schools or otherwise, I haven't really heard an argument against immigrants learning English. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) I wasn't really getting into specifics or "what ifs" with any of that. If you like you can make a million arguements for or against this stuff. My post was more of a hypothetical, off of the top my head kind of thing. All I was trying to say was that in a very basis sense, every situation that you don't have to prepare for, cuts your costs of doing business. It doesn't matter if you are a public or private institution, the more narrowly you can focus, the more effecient you are going to be at your task. What's most cost-efficient isn't necessarily what's best. -

Interesting movie. Not sure what to believe. I'll have to watch the other stuff that disputes it. -
Randomly heard two White Sox references on TV tonight while channel surfing... First was on Law and Order: SVU where someone asks one of the detectives if October 26, 2005 has any significance to him, and he replies that it was when the White Sox clinched their first WS since 1917. Second was a Toby Hall reference on one of those VH1 celebrity shows where some guy taking pictures of topher grace accidently calls him toby, and the VH1 show voice-over speculates that he might have confused him with White Sox back-up catcher Toby Hall.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) but because one segment figures that its their birthright to force us to speak their language its a joke. Can you elaborate on that? QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) Which, interestingly enough, is exactly how it works today as well. Exactly. That's precisely how it has worked and continues to work today. From my experiences, there are far more second-generation children that speak English and know very little of their parents' native language than there are second-generation kids that know another language and very little English. It does take a little bit of time, but immersing them into classes that only speak English as early as possible is probably the best way. A little bit of help through bilingual education as they learn English is probably beneficial, but not so much that it becomes a crutch. -

JCINAA time?? Stupid argument. There's no true definition of an ace anyways. All that matters is he was absolutely incredible for us for a while, has had injury problems, and will hopefully get back to pitching well.

Maybe Contreras just took April fools pranking a little too far? I'm not losing faith in him just yet... -

Jorge Cantu sent down to Triple-A, wants trade

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) Jorge Cantu? Average? I wish I could find his rookie mugshot, I used it as my avatar for like a week but had to take it down because it was so disturbing. Sadly all I have is his mug from this year. Well, over here living on the South Side I probably know about 20 Jorge Cantus, so my "average" my be skewed. I'm no expert on male beauty anyways... He should never, ever shave off the 'stache. Looks badass with the 'stache and hat bill low to the brow. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) Well he is one of the ugliest players in baseball along with Aaron Harang, Ezequiel Astacio, Jay Gibbons, Brad Wilkerson, Yuniesky Betancourt and possibly Gavin Floyd. Ugly? Never noticed that. Looks pretty average to me. And is he still sporting the 'stache? One of the most badass 'staches in the league... -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) Yeah I heard about that on the radio. It's really sad that the NIT botched it. If they want people to care even a little about the tournament they need to avoid it from being a joke. It was pretty decent this year with the changes/improvements, but that right there sets it back a bit. -
