  1. The bulls have the worst front office in chicago right?
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) The "passing" reading proficiency scores for white students in Detroit after her nearly thirty years of fighting for reforms in the public schools...13% Their only standard for keeping her schools open is are they making a profit. Its horrible.
  3. This is actually worse than hiring a high school baseball coach to manage the White Sox. Its like a guy who has never seen a baseball game becoming the GM.
  4. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Again, i'm not arguing she was a stellar choice. I just don't see the doomsday scenario. Look up what shes done to detroit schools. Look at her philosophy for vouchers and for profit schools. There is very little positive in her core values. Even if it doesnt directly effect us, its going to crater a lot of other areas. And thats without her and Falwell changing text books to creationism propaganda.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 03:46 PM) This isn't the first or last high level position to be bought. But most career politicians have enough respect for the office to require at least a slightly deserving resume from.their bidders. Not the Donald. To be fair there are a lot of lobbyists that buy pretty much everyone, like the NRA. Money is always going to talk. I saw it first hand locally when Alderman Burnett took money and no show jobs for his friends in order to push through several construction projects that were universally rejected by his residents. And thats only a local guy.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) Because as a kid from a broke public school where my classmates and I were told we'd fail (by others, not our teachers that busted their asses for us) because we weren't as good as private school kids, I'm insulted that this public school killer gets to take what little money we have and give it to the Church. And thats another topic all together. The religion-based schooling she wants to push is a joke.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) Are there a non-zero number of families who pay property taxes to your district but send their children to private schools? If people like DeVos get their way, all of those public education funds would instead be funneled into the private schools those kids are attending. That would hurt your kid's public school education. She'll also likely have a very negative impact on higher ed as there are strong signs they'll be rolling back the restrictions on the firehouse of federal student aid dollars aimed at awful for-profit colleges. "It won't personally affect me" isn't a good reason not to care about something, anyway. Well, you saved me some work there. Funneling dollars away from the good public schools isnt going to keep them the same. Also running "for profit" schools with zero oversight is one of the dumbest f***ing ideas of all time. She's a disaster, just ask anyone from Michigan. I'm also a gigantic supporter of at risk programs as well as special needs programs and there is literally no place for those in her world.
  8. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) I'm not sure what the freak out is over her. Is she unqualified? Sure. But the system works for the vast majority of Americans and that will not change. If anything she'll fail to help those most in need of it.....so she'll be the same as her predecessors in that regard. Because of the s*** she implemented in Michigan and her desire to run those policies nationwide. Her methodologies are terrible and are detrimental to the quality of schools that our kids may attend. But other than that...
  9. QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 02:35 PM) Republicans went full blown stupid with this confirmation. People were vehemently opposed to this woman. I get it, she donated money to your campaigns but she is legit about to destroy the future of many children. Money talks, and always will. From alderman on up to the top of the food chain. You can literally buy anything in this country.
  10. Woo, aborted the s*** out of that argument.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) Yeah probably. I teach Special Ed Reading at a very good Junior High in Will County. She's terrible but at least the Department of Ed doesn't really have as much of an impact as people think. Mostly done at the state and local level. It'd still frightening that they bought her way to that job though. The hope is the GOP remembers it wants LESS governmental control. Because an unqualified moron just bought herself a cabinet position.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:10 AM) There are non champions on this season so not sure if you knew that and are trying to be funny or just decided to take some fun out of it. There are non-champions at first but then 8 previous champs come in to compete against them for the prize.
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) I am talking the speed and style of that offense. Saben called out that style of football two years ago and thought it was a bad for football. I am not certain he will now buy into it but maybe. That offensive line is not built to run 85-90 plays a game. Maybe he will go that way but I don't see why he would. They've been running that type of offense for a couple of seasons, Bama, Clemson and OSU run pretty much the same style offense. Chip may have run the hurry up a bit more, but thats about it. Now the new OC will obviously have a lot to do with it. Kiffin literally took Chad Morris's and Tom Herman's playbook back to T-town.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) Not sure the Alabama roster is made for his brand of football. Do you think that would work or were you joking. Bama has been running the spread for 2 years now. Their starting QB is a runner before a passer. They are actually a great fit.
  15. Shes pretty universally despised in her home town and state.
  16. This is like having your surgery done at a hospital by a guy who donated money for that wing.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) I agree with you that fitbit should be really interesting with pebble integration. That said, if you have an iphone, there is just so much more features that exist on the apple watch then any other. If you go android, so many more options that truly have full functionality. Most of the watch devises that work on an apple are so limited in what they can do paired with an apple phone vs. if they were paired to an android phone. Agreed. It seems needing you iphone seems to be a majority of the gripes, but I never leave mine anywhere so its not an issue. I even run and bike with it on me just in case.
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:44 AM) It's such a stupid thing to lie about and really makes them come off as insane, but there are probably now lots of people in this country that believe there was a Bowling Green Massacre and refugees did it and the media just didn't report it. People who get their views from Breitbart and infowars for sure dont believe most of whats going on in reality.
  19. Man that article in the Trib about the tiny town in Wisconsin is so sad. It shows how much marketing and slogans can drive votes. They are quite literally even more f***ed the next four years.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) I knew that AMEX always did. I meant the other non-AMEX cards charging a fee must be a newer thing. Yeah, I believe its based on the provider as well. The credit card processing industry has gotten very expensive for businesses.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) LET'S GO!!! Spoiler: A previous champion wins again
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) It must be a recent thing. I know that banks are encouraging consumers to run their debit cards as credit. Maybe they do get something from the merchant. Amex always charges a fee, some of the credit card processing companies are now charging for any cards as well as the equipment. Its why you see alot of SMB's with square.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 07:49 AM) 2017 breakdown through Feb. 7: Snowstorms: 0 Thunderstorms: 4 That s*** last night was wild
