QUOTE (shakes @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 04:41 PM) Before running for office he wasn't against abortion, even supported right to choose charities and events, and showed support for gay rights. I truly think he doesn't care strongly about these issues, so he just listens to his advisers and adopts their stances, which should scare everyone. He's a Bannon puppet at this point. We are going to be led by white supremacists and crooked former executives. Thats just the reality of the situation.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) Its strange. I dont think Trump is anti semitic, his daughter is a Jew, his son in law is a Jew, his grandchildren are Jews. That being said, he seems to be surrounded by people who may be. I think a lot of the concern is that Trump just doesnt understand the people he aligned with to become President. His father was arrested at a KKK rally. So he has SOME prejudice in his upbringing

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 04:03 PM) What do people think of this whole "holocaust" controversy? I actually side with Trump on this. He didn't single out any group, but I didn't think there was anything horrible or malicious around his use of words. This is what I think is dangerous about how Trump's detractor's are taking things. If you complain about every little thing, including things, like this, which I generally believe to be small (of course I'd like to think I'm rationale and could be delusional instead) then you start to get people who maybe aren't as logical / rational who look at the media and say, if they are going to complain about every little thing, then it is the old "boy who cried" wolf and you basically are just hammering a person and people stop believing everything (which is the wrong answer). On the surface, its not that bad. When you consider that several members of his staff have taken in part in and believe in Holocaust denial it becomes quite a bit more offensive. White Nationalist HATE "Zionist Jews."

QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Now were back at it again, having a level 10 freakout over Trump resurrecting Obama's old policies. Protesting on the streets of cities like Seattle, the poster child for "I like people who aren't white to be on my TV, not in my neighborhood", accomplishes nothing. In a way it helps Trump, because nothing grinds the gears of the working poor more than bougie liberals LARPing as activists while ignoring issues that have been brooding in the belly of this country since the 70's. LOL, and there it is. Reading is FUNdamental

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) After sucking it up and reading a denial website or two, they were praising Trump for adopting their language. The specific quote was that they were rejecting the "science fiction" of gas chambers and ovens aimed specifically at the Jews. People are crazy thats for sure. I guess it wasnt a "Jewish question" he was trying to find the final answer to.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) And I have to be honest, I think most of them should be. Confirmation process isn't about whether the Senate likes them or not. The President should have wide latitude to nominate people and have them confirmed. The key is, if they are just complete disasters. So for people like DeVos (who is laughably unqualified) and Tillerson (who is unqualified AND has huge conflicts of interest), I'm all about blocking them. But many others, not so much. The midterm election is 2018 is going to be one of the most important in a long time for this country.
-
Cool, vote against it, they are still going to all be confirmed.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 10:46 AM) Uh oh, we might have a conflict between the anti-semite faction of Trump supporters and the Israel-is-always-right-about-everything faction of Trump supporters. Yeah thats going to be a battle. His main advisors believe that Jewish Zionists run the world.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) What is this obsession by conservatives that people who protest don't have jobs. Like it's some how impossible to do both. It was also a sunday...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Great, now Israel, empowered under the cover of Trump, is basically annexing parts of the West Bank with their new "legalization" bill...can't wait for Trump's first real foreign policy crisis At this pace we are looking at next week.
-
LOL, and after the White House repeatedly claimed this wasnt a ban, Trump tweets about it calling it a "Ban".
-
Wait, trump really thinks you can "race" into the country? How is it that the president has no idea how immigration works?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 30, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) https://www.instagram.com/p/BP1tTxtFWrw/ USNMT leader Michael Bradley rips Trump to shreds https://www.yahoo.com/news/sorry-mr-preside...-133034416.html Sorry Mr. President, the Obama administration did nothing similar to your "plan" I dont know, William Buckley's blog said this is exactly what Obama did and terrorists are killing us.
-
But Obama did the same thing. Just stop with this. Read them both. People are too eager to parrot stupid blogs these days.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) The president of the united States has accused two senators who have released a statement critical of his Muslim ban of "looking to start world war 3." https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/...src=twsrc%5Etfw I just don't get how people believe this asshole. A now ex friend of mine posted that muslims were trying to breed out Christianity in the US and trump is trying to stop it.
-
Every time on of Trumps moronic staffers brings up Obamas ban on Iraqis it makes them look even worse. If you don't know the difference between a country and a religion you shouldn't be in politics.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 09:27 AM) The problem is that Trump isn't the enemy for half this country. He's doing all the god awful things his campaign promised he would do. Those of us whose moral code is built around acceptance & tolerance may be up in arms over what is effectively a Muslim ban, but I can promise you there are millions of uneducated hillbillies & straight-up racists who view this as a huge win for our country. How can we overcome this when we're effectively outnumbered? Only outnumbered based on the most recent electoral college. As far as the entire actual population goes, his base is outnumbered.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 29, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) Not sure if this refers to me, as I've voted more R's than D's over the years, but... pretty sure you and I are friends on FB, and you are welcome to see what I said there in the past few days. This whole thing is abjectly disgusting. Glad a court put a stay on part of it, and hopefully we can slam the rest of it right back up Bannon's ass next week. I am seeing quite a few Republican politicians put words against it. What should happen though, is they legislate it away - something they absolutely have the power to do, if they choose to. They are too spineless to oppose the party. The threat of losing their support and jobs is too much for them to support what's right. And that's where we are with our government.
-
We've gotten in a time machine and gone back 50 years. I'm shocked at what's going on here. It's very reminiscent of the first stages of the nazi party.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) The fact it bans green card holders is ridiculous. Those people who are going to get locked out have lives in this country, most likely productive ones. Pissing them off and inconveniencing them is going to drive them to extremism... And they've already been vetted. People seem to think it's super easy to get a green card here. It's not.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 07:39 AM) No, this isn't racist at all It's sad in so many ways. The fact that so many people love it is pathetic. If you wake up afraid of terrorism you are quite literally a moron.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 09:16 PM) Flint needs to get taken care of ASAP. You'll be happy to know there's a movement backed by 300k Trump supporters pressuring him to send 221,000,000 dollars to Flint. Is 300k supposed to be an impressive number?

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Lol, Mexico will never pay for that "f***ing wall". Peña Nieto is under enormous pressure to not cede one bit, if he bends to Trump's will, he most likely get's replaced, if he "beats Trump", then he will see a huge rise to his popularity, which is very low atm. The Mexican people dislike Trump a lot more than EPN, after all he has branded them as rapists and murderers. A large segment of the population actually wants out of NAFTA so they'd rather lose NAFTA than pay for Trump's Wall. If Trump wants a trade tariffs war, they are more than ready for it. There's actually been some talk on Mexican political shows of courting China to sign a military alliance, just in case...that would be taking it way too far though and who knows if China would be so in your face to the US, but you never know. Trump has been sabre rattling and the Chinese have responded in kind... Duh, unfortunately there is a huge population of people that believe anything Trump says even if the money is being directly taken out of their pockets.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 01:14 PM) It's really not Trump or Obama here anyway. This is Congress, nearly 100%. They can find the money for a wall that locals don't even want to fix a problem that barely exists, but they can't find a small fraction of that for emergency aid from Sandy, or fixing a broken water system. It's priorities for spending, and Congress controls that ultimately. Congress is more interested in literally anything else but this.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) I know that at least Otto Hahn wasn't a member of the Nazi party and tried to shield people from Nazi persecution. But ultimately they still stuck around Germany doing physics for the Nazis, even if their hearts weren't fully committed to the Nazi ideology. FWIW the "engine" they're referencing is the attempt to build a nuclear power plant. Germany didn't devote too much effort to researching how to build a bomb because their scientists made a critical early error when they calculated the cross-section of uranium. It lead them to believe that you'd need so much uranium to have a nuclear explosion that it would be so large that they 1) couldn't possibly supply enough uranium and 2) wouldn't be able to realistically transport the thing anywhere. e: and there was almost definitely some post hoc rationalization for 1) their work under the Nazi regime 2) Germany's failure and 3) their personal failures at the physics of the matter. That was an incredible read. I think a lot of us are going to know how they felt loving your country but knowing the people in charge arent the good people we want running it.
