QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 08:12 PM) We were robbed of Penn State in the playoff. edit- we were really robbed of both these teams, but at least Washington had a better resume than USC. Washington got in instead of PSU since OSUs resume was better than both. But seriously hot take from watching them lose the the ninth ranked team. That amazing PSU offense couldn't even generate 250 yards against the buckeyes. Maybe watch a game next year. -

Welp. Didn't even show up. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) I disagree. The stadium is great for fans, especially when compared to the old one. The sight lines are great. The food is good and very easy to get to. There are plenty of bathrooms. Its the smallest stadium in the NFL, that alone is a HUGE error. Its also quiet as hell. They had the chance to build a stadium that could be used for multiple events year round and they didnt. They also have the worst professional surface in the country. its a disaster.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) One way in and out? There are plenty of ways to get in and out of the stadium. Not really. Its the worst in the city. Walking is entirely done from over a mile away, there is one road that goes past it. One. There is little to no public transportation options. Its awful.

Guess you hate all unions then.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) What I would have loved more than anything would have been if they built a domed stadium. f*** bear weather. Also not build the smallest stadium in the NFL. Also maybe look at a site that doesnt have one way in and one way out.... So many issues with it.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 11:01 AM) Said mostly in jest, but since attendance and loyalty is a hot button topic, I find it funny that it's ok for Chicago fans of other teams to go or not go based on performance of the team. But, when Sox fans stay home for a crappy team, it says something about their loyalty. Bears fans support a crappy team more than any other in Chicago IMO. Its too bad the owners were too stupid to build an actual stadium.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) They have plenty of soccer players. true, much better program than football. I really was cheering for them hard, super pissed they lost that one. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 12:38 AM) Today, universities I have been at have lost 3 bowl games and a home basketball game. This is an accurate summary of my sports fan experience. College kickers. I thought IU had that game. -
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Dec 29, 2016 -> 07:37 AM) I've seen and heard fans calling for the end of Pace and/or Fox at various times in the last year. I find it odd since the fanbase is primarily made up of Sox and Cubs fans and a media that fully supports the short term tank for talent with an eye for a better future. Isn't that what the Bears have been doing? They've dumped guys like Gould, Slaussen, Marshall, Bennett and Briggs and replaced them with younger, cheaper talent. Yet, there doesn't seem to be any patience when the Bears lose. Side note - Soldier Field was pretty empty Saturday. Looked about 70% full. I guess the always loyal Cubs/Bears fans went to the game, and the hard to please Sox/Bears fans stayed home. I dont think the fan base is split by baseball preference. People unloaded tickets because its cold and they suck. And it was less than 70% full.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 12:50 AM) I'm all about NFL-bound players sitting out meaningless exhibition games. I would hate to see them get hurt. But also, from a selfish standpoint, unless my team is playing in the Playoff, I'd rather see what the young guys can do. It would be a good chance to see what next year's players are looking like. I think redshirt players should be allowed to play. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) One thing to remember is, that is the amount taxed on ordinary income. The wealthier you are, the less likely your income is "ordinary"...it is far more likely to be in the vein of capital gains, etc....which have a significantly lower tax rate, which is ultimately why the effective tax rates of the wealthy can be much lower then expected. The people who actually have an effective tax rate closer to that 40% rate, are going to be more the people who are making close to those income levels (say 500K / yr)...so maybe a doctor or a good lawyer or a finance executive, strong sales guy, higher up engineers / IT people, etc. Those people are less likely to have anything they can deduct and they'll pay the most (even though at that income level, while they are certainly well off...they aren't what you would consider the ultra wealthy or anything along those lines). This is an awesome post. So accurate.

Thats pathetic. I hate how his players wanted to shake hands and looked like they felt forced to leave. -
I watched a documentary on the White House last night on WTTW (it was awesome BTW). And we got into a similar discussion except around First Ladies. The reason being it is sometimes forgotten that we've had some presidents that were morons, but First Ladies are all over the board. It was an overwhelming majority that agreed melania will be the worst though.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 21, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) This. I have no issue with any of these kids sitting out bowl games/playoff games/Junior or Senior seasons to preserve their draft status. Once they have established themselves as an early first round pick, they get no additional benefit from the college system. Losing millions of dollars in guaranteed earnings to help your school win a national title is a really, really one sided transaction. I love the "teammates" angle. Like those guys are going to help you out if you get injured in the future. Pro Football has a very short runway, get it while you can -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) Why did McCaffery play the last 4 or 5 games if injury was such a concern? Probably because those werent exhibition games. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Nobody is arguing with you here. We all agree with the kids. Bradley Roby sat out with an "illness" in the gator bowl a few years ago. Everyone knew why he sat out. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) After that Jaylon Smith injury last season, it's not surprising. If you aren't in the playoff, it's basically an exhibition game. Fournette missed several games with his ankle injury this season, have to wonder how serious it actually was. Can't blame the kid if you know you will be drafted either way. I'd say the playoff games and then the top tier are all that really matter if you are thinking about coming out (Smith was hurt in the Fiesta). Anything below that and dont even risk it. Get ready for the combine and make your money while you still can. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) Danny Kanell had thoughts on this and he is being destroyed for them His first point was "Does everyone who keeps using Jaylon Smith injury as an examplee of why players should skip bowl realize he got paid an insurance claim?" because his 900K insurance payout is way better than the 26M guaranteed amount he was gonna get paid at his projected first round slot Kanell is a mouth breather looking for clicks. His opinion means dogs***. If you are in a lower tier bowl game that literally means nothing and you are a possible draft pick, of COURSE you sit it out. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) I agree, although depending on the QB situation, I would expect to see quite a few more wins next year (vs. this year). I think 7ish is realistic next year.
