QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) Although I have reservations about this front office it would be fun to think about the returns of our veterans and core guys like Sale and Quintana. Banking on them getting value is a fools errand. I'd rather keep them -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:17 PM) Absolutely awful to see their game plan tonight Terrible. We should know his only out pitch is a change and you can see it in his hand -

QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) Ain't much one can do except tip the cap to Mr. Kyle Gibson. Dude just straight up owns the Sox. A right handed Bruce Chen if you will. Mr Gibson's next start on Sunday against Texas will not go as well as tonight, however. He will have to face competent major league hitters in that one. Every single big out has been on a change. You'd think we'd scout that -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:57 PM) Except: 1) He hasn't been that hitter for five years. 2) He's left-handed. 3) Dozier had already homered earlier. He hits everyone He's still a better hitter than Dozier. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) Was it Cooper's genius idea to pitch around Mauer Pitching around one of the best average hitters of our Life to face a .252 hitter. Probably everyone's idea. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) Very sox like. Trade Quintana to a good team so I can see one of my favorite players succeed. This is literally his fault right now. 4 rbis to Dozier is terrible -

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 12:55 PM) But can you envision a company saying one or the other? No. If anything making a product AND a platform makes your company more valuable. That whole storyline had some funny bits (slamming his chin on the desk), but ultimately it was too unbelievable. Depends on how quickly you want to exit from being VC funded to be honest. I've worked for several start ups and each one has its own "vision" for the eventual exit whatever that may be. Capturing an enterprise market early with a target solution makes you very attractive for acquisition which is a strategy.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:56 AM) I thought the finale was kinda lame. Same for the season overall. Just seemed to be treading water with lots of obstacles that magically got resolved. A lot of hilarious moments here and there, but just meh otherwise. I mean, it never, ever made sense to me that a CEO would want to make a box instead of the platform given the excitement around pied piper and the incredible uniqueness of the compression technology. In silicon valley culture that uniqueness is worth way, way, way more than some box to sell. Even the VC lady could see how they would be valued differently. Also, they need to drop the whole Houli/Gavin Belsen side of the show. That was such a waste/bore this season. Alternatively, I think its a great move to bring Big Head back. He's a great source of comedy. In the valley there is definitely the "concept" based software companies that would push the platform idea, but there are also companies that have pressure from mui VC's that need to make money or attack the much more lucrative enterprise space. There are companies that would put out that box if only to capture the ENT market before anyone else does.

Zack Collins agrees to deal with White Sox

QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) I'm of the opinion the Beckham would have failed if he had 10 mi or league at bats or 1000. He just wasn't mentally there IMHO He had a hitch in his swing that got taken advantage of pretty quickly. He then tried to reinvent his hitting style and he couldnt get to where he used to be. -

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) Catchers take much longer to develop and it's too important of a defensive position to try and develop at the MLB level. If Collins is up before 2018 it means that they have given up on him as a catcher and I don't think they want to do that. I bet you anything that they dont give two s***s about his ability to be a catcher. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) The bat will definitely be able to move quickly through the system, but the question is whether or not the glove will be able to follow. Knowing the organization, they will either move him off the position or just not care about his defensive ability to get his bat in the line up as soon as possible. It will probably be some point next year I would think. He's a DH/1B anyway, f*** his glove. He may be the most patient bat on the team if they brought him up right now. -
He has an incredibly quick bat, so he can get to alot of balls all over the plate. Thats going to help him a bit.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) My issue with the timeline is that the Game of Thrones necessarily implies that an act in one part of Westeros has an impact elsewhere in Westeros. For instance, Cersei sent Littlefinger to deal with the Boltons for harboring Sansa last season - who she believes aiding in killing Joffrey. His delay in so doing, and ultimately Littlefinger throwing his support behind Sansa should have all had consequences in King's Landing. Particularly since, during that time, Littlefinger went to the Vale, got the Knights of the Vale to Moat Cailin, showed up in Moletown to offer his support to Sansa, presumably returned to Moat Cailin, and showed up at Winterfell again. I accept that the storyline currently isn't exactly linear, but it is close enough to linear that characters doing things in a single scene that should take months while another character spends an entire season getting to the Citadel makes the overall timeline for each character a little difficult to follow (ie, where is Sam in time compared to Jon right now - are they caught up chronologically, is Sam months behind, etc.). Agreed, the timelines have been all f***ed up, but I think they are doing that out of necessity. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 12:00 AM) That was a very boring show. I think it has a good chance of having the first emmy winner from a show that's been cancelled. HBO spent so much money on Vinyl that they were forced to delay WestWorld which looks amazing, they had to pull the plug on shows by David Fincher and Steve McQueen, delay shows like True Detective and completely overhaul Lewis and Clark for budgetary reasons. I actually loved Vinyl

I like how the news of Ramsey/Frey downfall hasnt made it anywhere yet. I personally think for some reason Cersei is going to appeal to the Starks for help against Dany and Sansa is going to put a knife in her throat. -
He isnt going to walk much, period. His bat speed is enough that with the low walks he should be able to have pretty good plate coverage. Ideally I think he will hit lower in the order on a good team.
