QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) really? Orton in the Atlanta game is better. Hell if Orton was having the game that he did against Carolina earlier this season that would be an upgrade. You are a moron, Orton is better than Grossman, and Mike Hart is a heisman candidate next year. There goes any credibility out the window for you.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) either is better right now. It will probably be Orton but ugh this is gonna be a long day. Maybe the bears should shut up and not trash talk the Panthers. better how? Is the running game going to work, are the players going to stop dropping passes in their hands. STFU.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Let's see if Lovie has the balls to pull the great Rex Grossman Dont even start Josh, Orton would have thrown 6 picks by now.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) If he's smart and really wants those numbers, he goes to Colorado and asks "What will you pay me"? What a great idea, seriously. They could pay him peanuts, he wont have to roam the field much, he could surpass his HR goal, and everyone wont have to hear from him there. SOunds great.

They do have an assload of talent in their system however. But if they wait to let that develop, then some of the older players will be used up. Vlad, Colon, Lackey, Erstad, cant all play forever.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Santonio's stats even leave alot to be desired with me. OSU threw for over 225 yards a game, yet Santonio couldn't even average 82 yards a game. Martin even put up more yards when the two teams met, with 9 catches for 106 yards against a great D, with Holmes only managing 5 catches for 72 yards. I haven't seen him as much as you have, but I still think Nance will be the best in the class. Just shy of 1000 yards?? He was close to Avant in terms of yards with 30 less receptions. He led the big ten in TD's. An elite kick and punt returner. He runs excellent routes and blocks well. The guy is a gem. On the LB route. Carpenter IMO was underrated, and if he fell to the bears, I think many would see the most dominant LB tandem in the NFL hands down. Althought Pope would looks REALLY good as our TE.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I've never been terribly impressed with Holmes. He doesn't have great size, and his speed is nice, but nothing special. I love Nance's size, numbers, and attitude. I'm not saying Santonio has a bad attitude, as I have heard nothing about it, but I know Nance is a good guy and hard worker, especially coming back from his ACL injury in 04. I see him as a better attitude version of Plaxico Burress. You need to watch more Ohio State game then bro. He is a good blocker as well as a WR. Has exceptional speed, returns kicks, and was probably the best WR in the big ten this year. 1st in TD's 3rd YPR. I've seen Nance several times, as far as receivers go, he is a good one. But he is not elite. He plays in the MAC under a passing scheme. Santonio is head and shoulders above him.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) What part of THEY WON'T TRADE VAZQUEZ, THEY HAVE BEEN CHASING HIM FOR 3 YEARS do you not understand? They are not going to trade cost certain pitching for an extremely expensive OF especially since they have a cheap RF prospect they love in Ryan Sweeney. What does the VA stand for anyways, Very Annoying? It should be TBFan, which would stand for Thread Bump. Oh Snap. Jim getting pissed. Its better to put him on ignore, makes your life easier.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) Anyone that has had a hernia can attest to its discomfort and annoyance when it comes to physical activities. I think this is a pretty good indication that Podsednik's ineffectiveness on the base paths down the stretch was a result of physical discomfort, not a mental lapse. Now that he's had the surgery, I expect him to be stealing bases at his regular rate once again. That's always a positive. Again, PODS said that he had some mechanical flaws in his step at the end of the season. Whereas he was wasting one step towards second every jump he got.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) WR: 1. Martin Nance Miami(OH) 2. Santonio Holmes Ohio State From someone who went to Miami and is a huge OSU fan. I couldnt disagree more. Oh and I think Calhoun is easily one of the top 3 RB's in the country.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) Yes there is talk of Josh playing 1st and he played one game at 1st last year when Rogo went down with an injury. I also agree his footwork is still a big problem and I hope he improves this season because the guy can hit and did show some flashes of brilliance at the hot corner this season You would know better than I. Heres to hoping for some improvement.
-
QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) His footwork got better at the end of the season one thing Josh has working for him is the arm which bailed him out of what would have been a lot more errors. Bottom line is give Josh this season at Charlotte and see if his second half success at the Grand Canyon (aka the Hoover Met) transfers over to AAA ball I didnt say anything real negative about his offense as I know he cut down K's and improved so I will edit that out. His footwork is still an issue from what I hear, and his arm was bascially the only thing he EVER had going for him. It helps him overcome some of the mistakes he makes. But at the major league level, that will not be the case. He needs to have professional footwork and glovework to make it on this team. And at this point he is not close. You didnt say whether or not they were talking about moving him to 1B at one point so I will assume that was true.

I think Cubs management had put out a clear signal: We will continue to fill the ballpark, and if the team on the field gets lucky and makes the playoffs, so be it. If they dont, well, we will fill up the stadium next year.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 08:26 AM) Also Brian Anderson had metal plates removed from his wrists. Anyone know what that is about? Thought I share. Anderson About half way down, talks about his surgery.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) I think you need to look at some video and some stats yourself.... Fields really struggled in the 1st half of the season but in the 2nd half he adjusted more to the pitching and starting hitting much better. Which is the main reason he is going to AAA. He did the same thing his first season too, struggled at first but than adjusted to the pitching and starting hitting really well. Thats good and all, and maybe he can fix some of his k's. But what about his poor defense at 3rd? His bad footwork? Wasnt it suggested that they even try him at 1st some this year?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Thinking of Josh Fields starting for the Sox in the future makes me ill. I second that. Defensively we would downgrade hugely.
-
QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:36 PM) Brought up that he was babybearsomethingsomething and we use to argue but i don't really remember it. Has inflicted voluntary amnesia about my owning of him with a previous SN.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) And we care why? How many people actually watch this? The olmpyics are a joke IMO.. Obviously some people place emphasis on competition and representing your sport and country. I skiied competitively for years, and I respect and admire the athletes who have the skill and drive to compete for the US. In short, I do.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Isn’t it supposed to be LasMediasBlancas? As for my name... plain and simple. I am the greatest Jedi Master (one of only two Jedi that survived the destruction of the Jedi caused by a young pupil that went by the name of Darth Vader) and am currently living in Gary. Which, in fact, is a downgrade from the swamp where you used to reside.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) My mom had XM for a few months, and I thought the quality was great. I can't speak for Sirius though; I've never heard it. xm is good for several reasons 1. I think the portable options are superior 2. MLB games. I would want this over EVERY sport and every talk show 3. Big Ten Football games 4. Sound quality 5. Larger, more stable company at the time.

Yes overreaction. He is basically our only real hope at a gold for the men.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 09:28 AM) I had a friend who had sirius installed in his car, and it sounded like it was coming out of a tin box. Right there I decided that they were going to have to do much better then that to get me to pay for that service. My Ipod will continue to be my commercial free music radio and sportstalk will continue to be my source of info and comedy. My XM sounds great, almost like a cd
