  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) yes. I see him being a player in the Heisman race if he can stay healthy. he is that good. Most experts agree with me. He is ranked in the top 5 by several publications. im still in awe with this comment. Can we file this under the Kyle Orton appreciation thread?
  2. Here is ESPN's take on next year http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/sto..._pat&id=2281099
  3. Hart isnt even the best RB in the Big Ten, let alone the best RB in the country. Now Josh claims he just may be the best PLAYER in the country.
  4. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) yes. I see him being a player in the Heisman race if he can stay healthy. he is that good. Most experts agree with me. He is ranked in the top 5 by several publications. Whoa dude, did you just say Hart for Heisman??
  5. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) HE WAS HURT LAST YEAR! AVERAGE THE NUMBERS WHEN HE PLAYED HEALTHY (5 games) he averaged 125.2 yards. Put that up for 12 games and it is 1502 yards. Look at his first season when he had 3 consecutive 200 yard games. Hahahahaha. Yeah that makes alot of sense, because every teams defense is the same. When he was Healthy he barely broke 100 yards against a MAC team!!! He had one of the lowest yards per carry of any RB, and running QB's in the big ten, how in the hell does that translate to that many yards???
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I don't. Albert Young and Calhoun will each be better. Minny still has depth at RB despite losing Maroney and there system is very strong when it comes to rushing the ball. Josh has a Michigan hard on and over-rates anyone that played for the Big Blue. Although he does underrate Henne since he blames him for everything. Look at how long it took Brady Quinn, its rare to see young QB's come in and excel at a very high level from the get go. Calhoun and Young are extremely productive. Of course being a homer I like Pittman to have alot of yards based on an improved offense, but he is nowhere as good as Calhoun at this point. Calhoun had 2 5 td games this year correct?
  7. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) I said in 2006. Going into 2006. Most experts would agree that Mike Hart is an impact player. And I think Steve Breaston is OVERRATED! Going forward huh? SO you see next year Hart being the top RB in the big ten?
  8. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Hart was also hurt for a lot of the year. When healthy (in games he was in for the full 4 quarters) he had 626 yards. He also hasn't fumbled in 363 attempts. If you don't think that Hart is an impact player you are blind and haven't seen the difference between Michigan with him and without him. Watch the MSU game in 2005. Well, usually a starting running back is a difference maker. If the only think you can tie him to is one game, then thats fine. He has a good amount of rushing attempts, and his stats were as good or worse than most of the running backs in the Big Ten for the same amount of attempts. His yards/carry were subpar. He is a good running back, but you are overrating him here. Saying he is "proven" because of one good season is ridiculous, especially when you downgrade another RB who had one good season equal to that of Hart.
  9. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) they might say finish college. He will be a top 10 pick either way. not if he tears out his knee he wont.
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) I don't think Sutton is better and Maroney=He Gone. Sutton has a problem with fumbling the ball. He is an explosive runner but I don't think he is as proven as Hart. Maroney was the best in 05 but he entered the draft. Mike Hart when he was healthy gained 626 yards in 5 games. He is an impact player. He also hasn't fumbled the ball in like 363 rushing attempts. How is he not as proven. Hart had 1 good season, his fresh year, and Sutton had one good season. How is Hart all of a sudden this "proven" RB? In his second year he had 150 rushing attempts, 662 yards and 4 TD's roughly the same stats as Chris Taylor from IU. s*** heres something for the U of I boys, Pierre Thomas had less rushing attempts, more yards and more TD's.
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Texas is still getting a top flight lineman in the country coming in next year and Bush is not returning to USC. He's made that known already. If Young is back, Texas is #1 without a doubt. My bet is that Young bails. He DID change his stance from definatley coming back to "talking it over with my family." Want to know what my family would say, "I would like a new Lexus, a new house, and a vacation, have fun in the NFL, I will be in the hot tub."
  12. Josh, just for kicks, would you like to compare Santonio Holmes and Jason Avant at the WR position?
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) who is better. Wait i guess you hate Michigan enough that you can't recognize that they have a very very good player. Hell Troy Smith is probably the best QB in the Big Ten. Nah Kyle Orton is better. According to QB ratings yes, Troy smith is the best QB in the big ten with his 162.66. If you were thinking Henne, he was ranked 7th. Running backs that were or are better than Hart Since you will proabably point to Hart being out several games, so we cant use full season compiled stats to debate that, so we could use Yard/Carry. Hart was ranked 18th, even below Troy smith. Hart DID have 150 carries and there were players that had less and compiled more yards and TD's.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Which just goes to show that the bunny has more on his mind than Rock does nice
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) Just a random question: If Troy Smith played the whole game against Texas, are we talking about OSU as national champs today? If smith didnt take the money, there is no way they dont beat Texas. Hart being the RB in the big ten-ha!
  16. I still think they have alot more holes than can be covered up by signing big names. Their pitching rotation, aside from Pedro, is still pretty damn weak.
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) let's look at fairly. Yes they stunk however they didn't have Mike Hart for most of the season at 70% health (whether you like him or not is an impact player and one of the best RB's in College Football). If they had Mike Hart they might of won the Wisconsin game and won the Notre Dame game. The O-Line was banged up with a ton of injuries. If they remain healthy and the defense continues to progress they will be a top ten team next year. Yeah, and if the cubs were healthy they would win the world series. Mike Hart is not the difference maker you make him out to be. Top ten they are not, top 25, maybe.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Are those pancakes on his head? buttermilk.
  19. Typical Overrating of Michigan. They ended up unranked this year, and somehow are going to be in the top 10?? Joke.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Actually, at least based on the info of the APA, I'm not sure that's true...there is some data saying that many homosexual couples are just as fit to be parents as hetersoexual couples, and that their children are just as fit emotionally as children of heterosexual couples. As far as I am concerned, the sex of the parents has no bearing on raising a "well adjusted" child. The way they treat the child goes alot farther. Of course the data may be biased however, because you have to know there is no possibility of gay parents having a child by "accident." Most gay parents have to adopt children and they go through an extensive pre-screening process in which the couple is either determined to be fit for a child or not. If this same process was performed with heterosexual parents, im sure the data would be different. Some hetero parents that have children have no interested in having the child whilst gay parents usually seek out and go through a process which shows how much they really want to care for another.
  21. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) The "Choice", as you put it, comes in when the homosexual person has to decide if he/she is going to actually live that life. The drama teacher in my high school was married for 25 years and had two kids before he came out of the closet. Was he always homosexual? Yes. Did he choose to live that life? Not for a very long time. Personally, I believe that it is genetic in some way. Thats where we will disagree. We can debate it all night long, go into nature vs nurture, cite sources, etc. But I think its better left to agreeing to disagree.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) in other words, he has to scour the message boards for more rumors and "info" nice JP.
  23. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) I think there's more than one option. It doesn't have to be either or. People join death cults because they're looking for somewhere to fit in. People end up in Psycho wards because their chemicals are messed up. I agree. We all need to be respected. Black, White, Republican, Democrat, Homosexual (there's no such thing as being gay unless you've got a smile on your face), Straight, Married, Unmarried, Christian, or Agnostic. that's not the case in almost all of those examples. No one respects each other in this world. That's the bottom line. There's tolerance, but not respect. Great points PA. Trenchcoat mafia kids were looking for acceptance within a similar but oppressed peer group. But at the same time, some kids are so chemically imbalanced that they are equally as insane. Its almost impossible to tell the difference from the surface. On your second point. Even though I dont believe in being "gay" without choice, I still have good friends who are gay, and I do not treat them with disrespect, nor do I discriminate against other memebers of the group. There are people who are gay that are good people, and there are bad people that are straight. Your sexuality has nothing to do with why people should respect you IMO.
  24. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Here's something interesting to toss around. If a gay couple adopts a baby boy. Will he grow up to be gay, because of the acceptance of it? Can two gay guys raise a heterosexual boy? See I think it has to do with genes. When that kid hits 11 or 12 he is gonna see some girl and be like whoa!! It doesn't matter that his dads are gay...I think his body will tell him what he likes to see and what he doesn't. edit: BTW, I was trying to take this away from a s*** starting thread, into a legitimate discussion. Sure, its possible. just like in any child/parent relationship, the upbringing COULD play a role in their sexual preference. If the child was somewhat neglected or seldom loved, maybe finding a common ground (sexuaity) to relate and feel closer to their parents could be a way to go for the child. Of course, they could feel so comfortable and open with homosexuality, that they could grow up knowing it exists, but also knowing that they are not gay. We are animals at the root of our being, and our existence IS based on mating with the opposite sex.
  25. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) http://fsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=7010...920d&id=5226986 overrated big time. Hotter girls here in chicago and that doesnt say much. Girls who go to school in FLA have nice bodies as a standard, her face is sub par.
