Seriously though, how many people think Joe Pa is actually coaching? I really dont think he knows what year it is. It seems to me that he is an image, a public figure and the assistants are doing all the real work. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) I used to like Ruth Chris.. but had a bad experience in Mexico and can't get past trying them again. There really are so many good steak places out there. I dont like that place because I cant fathom why its sitting in so much butter. I like Phils because of the bone in ribeye, but for my money, i prefer a prime rib.

I can see it now "Sources at Soxtalk.com report Migueal Tejada was aquired for Joe Borchard, Arnie Munoz and Kris Honel. The deal is dependent on physicals."
-
lets give some reasoning behind it

I had a pretty lengthy debate with a co-worker today about where the best steak in the city of chicago is served. Much popularity goes to the Chop House, but I find that many people have bad things to say about it as well. being that I have eaten at pretty much a large majority of the steak establishments in chicago, I would have to say my favorite considering all aspects of atmosphere, price, menu, and sides, would be Phil Stefani's followed closely by Mortons. What is yours?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Still, Boston is in desperate need of a CF, and the odds are Dusty still doesn't want to play Murton or Pie in the OF, so it's at least plausible. If I were the Cubs I'd make sure to get some money along with that though. Duh, thats why they signed Grissom.....

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) They do, however when you site a fan message board as an outlet for a "source" for a trade IMO you lose all credibility. Think of all the bogus trade crap and wishful thinking that goes on message boards. Its a crap site, bascially they just make up rumors. Pretty unreliable and a pretty far-fetched rumor IMO.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 07:13 AM) Simple, he said he was worried about how Anderson would catch the ball. He must've said it 3-4 times in various interviews. AH, you watch too much TV

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) What do you do as Paterno? My Lord, I wouldn't be able to hold in my anger for that kicker. Im under the impression he doesnt even know what year it is. -
I usually go over to the cubs message board for a few funny trade rumors. Tonight there is a ridiculous Troll who has filled their board with spam. I would really check it out, its kinda funny. I assure you this wasnt me, I wouldnt do anything like this for real.

Wow, kicking games really suck tonight. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) You hope. Don't forget, we'd probably be looking to replace Garcia @ the same time. And Iguchi is a FA that year as well. I'm not sure about Uribe & Podsednik. Not to mention you know the cards have their Eye on him, as well as the Yanks, Boston etc etc etc. He will be an EXTREMELY hot commoditty if he ever becomes an FA.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) But not as good as watching Uribe plus Contreras. (Plus watching a top prospect in the minors.) But he blows their first halves away. Collectively, oh and he blows their careers away too just for a bonus.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) Well Rock, I agree KW loves Anderson but I also think this poster brings up some very good points, I don't believe he is arguing just to argue but be that as it may. Here is my take, even with all of KW's faith in Brian Anderson, his manager IMO is not completely sold. I do believe Anderson will get a shot and play a lot. On the other hand I believe Guillen loves speed and defense. When I say speed I mean stolen base speed. Ah Jimbo, I cant let this one slide. Where do you get that Ozzie is not sold on Anderson? Anderson was the first Rookie to really get a shot at filling in as a position player, not really any other minor leaguers (except Jenks) got a shot at that. That speaks alot for the coaching staff and KW's opinion of Anderson. I wouldnt doubt that Ozzie is a backer otherwise its possible Anderson might have been included in a deal. You agreed with me during the season that Ozzie has some personel input, I believe that this major change in players, and putting faith in Anderson, does reflect Ozzie's opinion. And just the fact that they traded one of the most loved, and Ozzie-ball type player, relying on a Rookie to fill in, gives me a ton of faith in this decision. Sidenote, you said that Ozzie loves speed and defense-well all things be told, it has been said that Anderson is an even BETTER Cf'er defensively than A-row, therefor increasing our defense.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) hey, thats the price we have to pay for winning the world series agreed. And im cool with that. IN fact, im excited. But Im just saying that IMO I dont mind having less people now and again. Its nice to have some space to watch the game and speak with usually more die hard fans. And be able to get whatever you want when ever you want, not having to ride the EL spooning with other people. Its ok with me, thats all. I like it both ways for different reasons.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) Probably because Rowand's offensive numbers were pedestrian (and unlikely to improve) and because Pods could play CF if they really needed him to. And it's likely that KW didn't want to get rid of the defensive studs in his infield. And they have nobody in the minors ready to play C in the majors right now. Hell, I don't even know if there's anybody at 3B, SS, or 2B that's ready to make the jump at this point. Even without BA, Rowand was the logical choice. Which of the starters are you going to trade away before him? Crede? A.J.? Uribe? Tad? No way. You love to argue just to argue dont you. Seriously, his confidence for BA is evident everywhere. Trading of Rowand, the trade of Reed, the trade of Young, not signing another Of'er. BA has been on his board as the starting CF'er for years. If he wasnt they would have moved PODS to CF and picked up a corner OF'er. BA was KW's boy when he was drafted in the first round, and every level that he has excelled. The reason that A-row was expendable in ANY trade was because he believes that A-row was just taking up BA's spot until he was ready. Look at the signs man, its VERY obvious.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) that was the original thought, but with his phantom arm problems last year there has been a lot of questions about it. The best thing I heard someone say about it (Maybe it was Stone, I can't remember) is that pitching is just a violent motion and no matter how sound a pitcher's mechanics look, there is always a lot of stress on the arm. Prior has some of the best mechanics I've seen. His arm problems last year were becuase of A. His leg problems adding to the stress on his arm and B. A freak line drive off of his elbow.(I was there) Seriously, Mark Prior has some Cy Young seasons ahead of him, and i would trade anyone on our roster that they wanted straight up for Mark Prior. The guy is a flat out ACE.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) Grissom hit .212 in over a 100 at bats. If they are giving him a major league contract, Jim Hendry should be fired on the scene. I would rather watch korey play than this old fart. At least K-orey may have some promise to improve, and is relatively cheap.

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Maybe if the people that went to those games actually cheered and paid attention it would make somewhat of a difference. I've heard louder libraries than Sox home Wed. games. Worrying about bathroom lines is the last thing I'm concerned about when I am going to a White Sox game. I wasn't forced to go when there was 10,000 and I am certainly not forced when there is 40,000. Ohhhhh, now its the volume of the game that concerns you...ok :rolly Dont know what you mean by forced to go to games, but when you go to roughly 40-50 games a year, bathroom, food, entrance lines are something you deal with all the time. I dont mind having a little space once in awhile.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) ^^^ Except there would be about 50x as many numbers. Adding wind speed and barometric pressure to the mix as well methinks.
