  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Exactly, I'd be in no hurry to move him. I think the positives far outweigh the negatives. Plus, if were going to pick up a reliever, I'd probably rather deal our own mionr leaguers for one and than let Garland get us some stud prospects because thats better value on the most part. Thats unless were talking about a big time closer that we'd have the rights to for more years. Like if the nats were crazy enough to deal us Cordero. Its a possibility. Im starting to think that its better to keep him for now unless we are wowed by an offer. Its much better to keep him and make our team better THIS year, than move him for the future.
  2. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) wow. I love that idea. Maybe Cooper could convince him to start throwing the fastball more. When did he fall so in love with his curve ball? its the slider he loves.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Not the higher ups. The key players at McDonalds (ie the guys in the corporate office) are getting paid very well I'm sure (plus there are more key players involved in McDonalds than MLB). The highest paid CEO in chicago is MCD's FWIW
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) I know that the biggest fear I have, as well as RockRaines, is that KW is so set on trading Garland, that he might take a lesser offer just to get rid of him. If KW is just set on getting relievers, then we're not going to get full value for Garland. You know I agree with that. Everyone knows he wants to deal him now. And if he has his mind set on that, then we may be in some trouble. Consequently, if he hangs onto him what are the positives and negatives: Positives: Bullpen is better with BMAC Pitching staff is better with Garland Maybe increase his value at trade deadline May increase offers May open doors for more extension talks Negative: May only get draft picks May hurt BMAC's dev He may regress into the Garland of old.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) It was extremely sarcastic and I agree with everything you just said. You know, besides the dumb part And if this guy actually said that about the DC snipers, well good riddance. we dont know if that was really his myspace acct or if someone else made it up. But it looks to be originated a little while ago meaning they didnt make it after his death.
  6. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) mcdonalds is a billion dollar industry and their people make 6.75 an hour is it possible for this thread to get more off topic.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Actually Id lead that honor to Jonathon Quinn/Craig Krenzel. Shane Matthews makes that all star team as well.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Idonno if that was meant to be in green or not but it was kind of dumb anyways. I feel bad for the Dungy family but in my opinion someone who commits suicide is pathetic and if they value their life that little dont deserve to live. Especially a kid that probably has had almost everything he ever wanted since Dungy has been raking in the money. It sucks for the family that their child passed away, and Tony is truly a class individual. But knowing nothing about the son other than what I read today, my ASSUMPTION is that the apple fell far from the tree.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) I really hope Ruttu isnt turing into Daze 2.0..... Lets hope not. Daze is a freakin ghost at this point.
  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) People, give it a rest and have a little class. Wait for the results before bashing the family, mmmmkay? who bashed the family? Jesus, I didnt say anything bad. Look at the signs, 18 years old, college kid, found dead in dorm/apt. Looks like drugs, that all I was saying. We show a picture of a guy who gets run over by a truck, and everyone says funny s***, but then when a famous person's son dies, anything other than prayers is classless. I was making an observation about what I thought the cause might be, relax.
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) lol rock. bumpity bump bump he was on yesterday too
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) How can you not like the very creative Jizzcaino! :banghead :banghead Gas-caino was my fav
  13. Im thinking Bruce is talking out of his ass. This doesnt make a whole bunch of sense. Cubs fans seriously are taking this all to heart. And yet another awesome cubs fan trade rumor: don't see it for Tejada. Too much RH hitting. Your bullets are mostly right on though. You heard it here first Phils, Cubs, A's Abreu and Zito to Cubs Hamels and Murton to A's Prior to Phils Makes sense for all with the exception that Zito is a FA next year so extension for Zito is mandatory to pull it off
  14. I still think it is so unlike Garland. He has many friends on this team, including Buehrle, and this has been his only team. Ozzie is also the first manager to really have confidence in him. This situation smells a little funny.
  15. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) shut up hahah nice one Tony.
  16. QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Bruce Levine has been reporting that the Sox will need to rid G-Unit cuz they will be over payroll with him.... B-Mac Better have what it takes to be an every day starter. What a shame...Garland is my favorite starter of the bunch, everyone said he wouldnt have what it takes to pitch in the biggies, i guess he proved them all wrong.....If he does go, I will have to add to my Jersey collection. wow, thanks for that breaking news.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Mark has been our best pitcher, there is no doubt about that but imo Jose will be our best next season. I believe for the next 2-3 years JC will be one of the top 5 pitchers in this league. Obviously the only thing we can do is wait and see, so I'll just leave it at that. True, we dont know what we dont know.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) I thought we were talking about where you would put our starters going into next year? IMO, Jose will be our best starting pitcher, if we were talking about the past then Jon isn't even close to Freddy. Their past is part of who they are. And where they are going. If you were going to ask me, which pitcher has the most legitimate chance of turning it around and repeating this years performance, I would have to pick the most consistent player, and younger one in Jon. As far as moving forward, I dont know how you cant pick Mark as our best pitcher when he finished this year in the top ten in wins, ERA, WPCT, IP, WHIP, and CG.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Contreras is the best pitcher on the team imo, while Mark is 2nd. You can definitely make the argument for Jon over Freddy but Freddy has been a consistant number 2 starter his whole career while Jon has had the one year. I still think Jon is going to be very solid so don't get me wrong but for the next year or two I think Freddy will be the better pitcher. You cant put contreras as the best pitcher on the team at this point. He had a great second half, and a good postseason. But He has posted and ERA of over 5 in 2 of his 4 full seasons in the MLB. Jon hasnt posted a single season above 5 when he pitched full time. And since Mark has been starting full time, he has only broken a 4 ERA ONCE from 2001 to 2005.
  20. Everybody is saying he had a great first half and a bad second half, ha!! First half: 3.38 ERA Second: 3.65
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) Jon dominated one game in the alcs and had a meh game in the series. I still think of Jon as our 4th starter right now behind Count, Mark, and Freddy but I do agree that you can't put Brandon ahead of him yet though I do think he'll be better then Garland eventually. No way!!!! Garland had the 2nd best second half on the team, and the best first half. He is a better pitcher than Garcia at this point, and the only pitcher I would put in front on him is Mark, because its Mark.
  22. QUOTE(Konerko4mvp @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) so on January 27th, Will they be any tickets available for the opening game against indians or will theybe gone by that time? If you wait until the day that it goes on sale to the general public, you should be sitting in the UD corners.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Right now, I would take Buehrle, McCarthy, and the Contreras of 2nd half last season (if he still exists) over Jon. That's including all things, such as Salary. I would take Garland over Garcia in a heartbeat. Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jon had 18 wins, and pretty much helped carry us the entire first half, and in the playoffs was a dominant force especially in the ALCS. You are on crack my friend if you would take a Rookie over Jon. The count is maybe close.
  24. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) oh, if you think that was awesome, this one is better If this deal became: Red Sox get- Murton and Pie Orioles get-Cedeno and Prior Cubs get- Ramirez and Tejada Then I might consider it, only because..... Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Ramirez Tejada Jones Barrett would make the mets lineup look like the royals'. We could give Hill a shot in the rotation and Guzman a shot in the summer, ending up with: Zambrano Wood Guzman Hill Maddux _________________ Matt Murton projected homeruns over 580 ABs? 35.
