from NSBB another flubbies fan gives his take on a fair deal Prior Hill/Guzman Murton extra Bullpen arm low level prospect FOR Tejada Roberts Mora Bedard A little cash
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 04:40 AM) That kind of thing will happen to the Royals regardless. Who do they have in their bullpen who's any good? Andy Sisco? They have at least 3 or 4 guys that throw extremely hard.

This is the best part of the deal. Zambranos agent is.........Borasss. Which means, not only will they lose their golden boy Mark Prior, but when Z is ready for FA, they will lose him too. Boy I love Jim Hendry.

Bump for Josh. -
Oh man how the cubs are getting desperate. As much as Zambrano is a good pitcher, Prior is the most talented and probably most likely to be a Cy Young winner. Eric Bedard? Uh ok, why not just clone Glendon Rusch then Mr Hendry? Bruce Levine said a package of young players, well if you are going to package 2 pitchers I would assume that would be Prior and Hill, and then Cedeno, for Tejada. Wow. Getting a little desperate are we?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) That should say Mark would get a little more than Jon I was going to say you were undervaluing Burls.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Technically speaking, on the open market I think Buehrle would get a little more than Buehrle. wow, who would think that Mark would get more than himself??

QUOTE(quickman @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) how do you know he wants to play on the west coast? VA FAN Impersonation

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Plus if you look at it from the Dodgers perspective, they keep Billingsley/Guzman/Laroche so I think they'd be happy. I must admit, if I could get Billingsley over Elbert in that deal I would (but I think the only way you do that is if the Dodgers are desperate and you have another suitor offering up a good amount). Yeah, I dont see Billingsly going anywhere though, dodgers fans are inserting his name into the rotation as soon as this year.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Your deal for Broxton, Jackson and Ebert was about right IMO. It's a damn good deal. Just most people were expecting and talking about a deal like Broxton and Billingsley/ Guzman and others. If the sox want to "strike it rich" they'll have to accept A level prospects, not all guys who can start in AAA or make the sox 25 man roster. Some combination of prospects should be expected OTOH, a lot of people are expecting a Mulder /Hudson deal as well. Those two had more success than Jon had before they were traded. I think that is a damn good deal and I wouldnt blink an eye. It would stock our system again, and allow us to deal or develop. I like it.

QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Didn't read all of the pages but the problem was he didn't have surgery and elected to rehab instead. I stated before last season when many posters wanted him for the rotation that it wouldn't work. It didn't. He has gotten smart and had surgery this time. He should miss a good portion of the season. He is effective when healthy however. I would think someone like Cleveland would take a chance on him.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:27 PM) I've got nothing against him, but if you're trading a 26-year-old pitcher at the height of his trading value you'd be wise to get some major league ready prospects in return, not a guy in Low-A. fair enough, I think he is fairly heralded however.
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Bingo. The pool of players should consist of LaRoche, Guzman, Billingsley, Jackson, Miller and Broxton. If LA doesn't at least offer two of them, KW would be wise to hang up. Cerb, you no likey Elbert?

QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Seriously, in this day and age, at least I would sell it on ebay and make a profit.

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) I got 7 World Series DVD's.. obviously I didn't need all of them so I wrapped them up and am passing them along. Anyone else regift? Same thing, seems everyone figured that I needed one of those Dvd's, ummmm people, im a die hard fan, I go to ridiculous amounts of games, I went to playoff games, half my wardrobe is sox gear, I post on a sox message board, dont you think I MAY have bought myself that dvd when it came out??? The looks on their faces are the best,"well I thought you might like something like this." No s***, I liked it when I bought it the minute it came out, maybe you thought I hadnt heard or seen that this product existed? RE-GIFT

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) No, the Dodgers converted him to the pen when Gagne was shut down for good. 5 weeks later he was called up to the big leagues. He was fast-tracked so to speak and many scouts believe in the end his home is as a closer. He's basically as highly touted of a closer prospect as there is right now (simply put you usually don't have highly touted closer prospects) and well they are almost always converted relievers. With rare exceptions. Koch was drafted as a closer, Houston Street, Cordero. huston street.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Elbert, Broxton, Jackson would be a very good deal. Elbert ranks somewhere near Gio in terms of a prospect. They both were in the SAL last year (well Gio got promoted eventually) and both have high K numbers. I think Elbert has a better build, but both are potential front of the rotation guys. I agree with everything, I think that a couple of these guys are untouchable though, that why I was pushing for Elbert. He is not quite to that level yet, and not as heralded as their top three, but could end up being s tud.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Why not try to trade Garland for something more then Prospects. you are alive????
-
I'd rather have Brazoban, he tired a bit at the end of the year, given a consistent set up role, or spot relief, I think he could be lights out.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I want Scott Elbert, Brazoban and a MI prospect. I still think this is more realistic. Maybe switch out Elbert for billings, but probably not. Remember, Garland is essentially a one year rental.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Hernandez just signed with the Orioles. 2 posts too late my friend

QUOTE(Adam G @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) Olivo only played 37 games in San Diego last year. Ramon Hernandez is their guy. I'd like to see an offer tendered to Joe Borowski. Ummm, didnt Hernandez sign with another team........

QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) You make it sound like the only guys worth anything in the Dodgers system are Guzman and Billingsley. About the only team that can fit the sox request for two top pitching prospects is the Dodgers. the sox can and probably will make a deal that doesn't involve those two guys. Beck check my post, I dont think those are their only two players.
