  3. QUOTE(Wedge @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Roy Williams, Dre Bly. I'd even say Harrington is pretty good. Those guys are pretty good. I think you'd be surprised at just how fast a good to great coach could turn that team around. There is definitely some talent on that roster that has underachieved. Wow, those are some seriously productive players........Kind of like David Terrell
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) I'm saying the restaurant won't ever be getting any memorabilia from the Cubs going to a World Series since it will never happen. So they had to jump on the wagon and get something from the Sox. Well, since most of his original work came with the sox, his restaurant reflects both teams. Its not justa cubs place.
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 06:05 AM) And that was what 2 games. The Astros tried offering Taveras to the Yanks to help solve their CF problem, and Brian Cashman said no, that should say something right there. Remember all of the "I don't want Juan Pierre because he's terrible defensively with no arm!!!!!!" talk a few weeks ago. Well that's basically Taveras, except for the 103/25 K/BB ratio with a .325 OBP. Even Willie Harris when he led off for us had a better OBP. Doesnt Taveras have a great arm? I recall him throwing out 2 cubs runners in 2 consecutive plays.
  6. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) He is too stubborn to accept that he is a bench player and he wouldn't go to the DWL to learn to play SS. It really is too bad, because he could've been a solid bench player again, good OBP, great defense.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) He's got no minor-league options left, let's see Borchard compete for a fourth outfielder's spot in spring training. I'm not even really speaking from a sentimental standpoint, but, rather from a baseball point of view. He's really the only in-house option for some pop off the bench. Looking on down the rosters, we don't really have any slugger with some power potential coming off the bench other than Borchard in-house. If Kenny decides to sign DaVannon or the like, I'd have no problem with it. But, I think Borchard can play all three outfield positions--albeit, not great defensively--and has that LTP we've all been wanting to harness for all these years. Bring him into camp, let him compete. I actually really agree with this. We drafted this guy for a reason, lets see if he cant put it together at least before we unload him. He has alot of pop and had a decent 2nd half of the season last year. Lets at least see what he can do before we unload him.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Lets focus in on your comment here, shall we. Being successful at one quarter of your opps means either your BA or OBP would be around .250, meaning that whatever way you define successful, you either get on base 1 out of 4 times, or get a hit 1 out of 4 times. Being that Blalock does not have a BA or OBP around .250 I would guess that you are just pulling that number out of your ass. Now you argue that you would rather have Joe Crede, now his BA is just a smidge above .250, and his OBP is around .300. Because Blalock has a higher BA, and a higher OBP, would that mean he is more succesful in your argument? So you say you would not want a player that is successful 25 percent of the time, but you are arguing for a player whose numbers suggest he IS successful only 25 percent of the time. Do you even know what you are arguing for? You said you dont want a player that is succesfull 25 percent of the time, please explain.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) You want a player that is successful in one quarter of the opportunites in which he comes to the plate. I don't, nor will I, so you can just drop it.
  10. Why do you continue to ignore my posts that refute your arguments? Seriously.
  11. JP, Let me give you a lesson on trying to prove your point. PLease respond to post #604
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) At least you dont' talk s*** and go say, "look at everyone else. they agree with me so I am right. You make your argument and I can dispute it." I appreciate that. I can work with that. Not with stuff from Rock and Jabroni. Shut it. Every time I post numbers, or a argument to your posts you ignore the facts. Everytime I attack your statistic manipulation, you decide not to comment. Your argument is weak, your numbers are misleading. You have yet to make a decent point and back it up with facts. You constantly take the worst part about a players numbers and compare them to the entire season of another. When you can actually make a decent argument and allow yours to be picked apart, then you can have a decent conversation. Until then, you have already built yourself a reputation for making outrageous claims about players, and making ridiulous comparisons and horrible statistical references. If thats the way you want to be, good luck to you.
  13. QUOTE(Wedge @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Is Millen really that bad? He's brought in some decent talent to that team. I suspect it has more to do with coaching and that Mooch repeatedly threw Harrington under the bus rather than supporting him, which affected team morale. When we beat them in Game 2, they looked like a team that was totally splintering. Decent talent like............
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Why do people take Bob seriously. JP(bob) was the one that also said last year that he would rather have Buerhle than Johan Santana because at the time Santana's Era was slightly higher and Buerhle had more wins. Santana had a lower WHIP, higher Ks and outside of JP's world everyone in baseball including Mark's mother would agree that Santana is a better pitcher. Mark B is a great guy and all but come on. I told him that if Santana was offered for Buerhle straight up, that before TR said SANTA KW would of said DEAL!!!! In game chat we had a good laugh over that one. Was his argument that Mark pitches better than Santana into a headwind, and because there are alot of headwinds at the Cell then he is a more effective pitcher?
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) You want a player that is successful in one quarter of the opportunites in which he comes to the plate. I don't, nor will I, so you can just drop it. Blah Blah Blah Blah Lets focus in on your comment here, shall we. Being successful at one quarter of your opps means either your BA or OBP would be around .250, meaning that whatever way you define successful, you either get on base 1 out of 4 times, or get a hit 1 out of 4 times. 16. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) You're taking the worst portion of one player's game and trying to compare it to the other player's entire career. That's not really an even comparison, and is a horrible form of statistical analysis. By totally ignoring half of his stats, you're distorting the reality. What's funny is that Crede doesn't exactly blow those splits out of the water. His overall numbers are better, but not significantly so. You keep using that one argument, we're using several. What's worse is that we've come up with arguments to counter that one line of debate, such as that moving from Ameriquest to the Cell isn't that big a dropoff, especially considering that the Sox offense and pitching staff dragged them down a bit last year, or that by switching divisions his road trips are going to change, dropping 22 games at unfavorable parks down to about 9 and gaining games at more neutral parks. Those 3 parks make up more than a quarter of his road trips, and he only hits well at Safeco, and even those numbers came down this year. Yes, but that point has been made several times, and the counter will be--yeah but he only hits at home games against right handed hitters. There is really no reason to respond to the ridiculously wrong argument that Crede is a better player. JP is a statistic manipulator, and when it is done to him, he laughs it off as wrong. It is better to ignore the arguments. BTW good post anyway.
  17. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Don't make Tony cry. Well, worse comes to worse, i have 4. Plus, I can still hold hope for my ticket connection. He has gotten us 8 in the club level the last 4 years...I wonder what will happen this year? Starting to sound bad. I will take some of those club level seats, you dont need them...
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Ignore him, he's lying. Shhhhhhh!!!!! They are all mine!!!!!
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Daily Southtown reports that the next White Sox announcement may be Contreras' contract extension. Cowley indicated talks heated up Monday afternoon.

He DOES suck everywhere huh?
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:31 PM) LOL. Nice. Now you call me an idiot. You know your argument is going to s*** when you start reaching for insults. Thanks for playing. insult??? Thin skin perhaps? You have been dodging my posts the whole time, and that is your reply? Come on.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Whatever you want to say and make up aqbout Blalock you can, but the one thing that is INDISPUTABLE, is that he is good in Texas, but sucks ass EVERYWHERE else. 2005 Fenway-.538 .500 OBP 1.192 OPS the cell. .417 .462 .962 Dolphins .308 .357 .742 Comerica .400 .400 1.000 Citizens .273 .385 1.021 Career Dolphins- .435 .480 1.132 Hiram- .333 .429 1.095 Great American .273 .273 1.091 Citizens .273 .385 1.021 Turner -.385 .429 .967 Safeco- .289 .342 .935 The Cell .270 .325 .811 Kauffman- .298 .349 .788
  23. Blalocks best numbers come in Fenway, The cell, Ameriquest, Comerica, Citizens bank, Mcafee, Dolphins stadium, .
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Exactly. And the reason no one has made some great bid to get him with that great contract is because the only thing that they are gaurenteed is a hitter that has a .707 OPS unless he gets to hit in one of hte best ballparks in the league. Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? He can only be good when he hits in good hitters park. Put him in Cleveland and he'll be lucky to have a .750 OPS. So maybe he'd be good in Texas cause of his solid home OPS. But for any other team they are taking a huge risk because all he has shown so far in his career is tha the can hit at Arlington and sucks everywhere else. THats a HUGE qualification for a "good" player. How do you know that?? How has he hit when visiting other "hitters parks" All we know is that he plays well at home. What other teams has he played for? Huh? Just because he plays well at home does not mean it is park specific. Any idiot would know that.
