QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) I would trade Crede for a package of Blalock and someone else, but I'm not giving up Garland in that deal. That's overpayment for Blalock. Wilkerson doesn't interest me enough over Anderson either. I'd take Chavez, Figgins, Wright, Ensberg and Glaus if he could stay healthy for a year. That's just off the top of my head. It would be more like Crede and someone else for Blalock. Crede is not the player Blalock is dude. You are overvaluing your man crush by ALOT.

Come on Nite, it cant possibly take you that long to tell me to look as his away splits blah blah blah.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) 2)All-Star appearances mean nothing. Robbie Alomar made the all-star game several times, let's go get him again since Iguchi hasn't...right. If you don't want to accept those reasons, then fine by me. But Blalock doesn't project to be an upgrade over Crede. I could care less how old each one is right now because they're both around the same age and neither is in their 30's. Talk about age when it's the difference between a 19 year old and a 25 year old. Or a 31 year old and a 25 year old. Wow, comparing a player that is retired with a 25 year old who already has made 2 all star teams. You are digging yourself a deep hole today arent you? Would I take Alomar in his mid 20's over Gooch? f*** yeah. Project to be an upgrade? Ummm he already is, defensively and offensively. Sorry man, comparing the two is pretty ignorant. Last time I checked we play half our games at home as well. Last time I checked, our park was one of the most hitter friendly in the MLB. Last time anyone with a brain checked, Blalock was better than Crede. Blalock is younger, cheaper, better, and not injured. HE IS BETTER.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) I'd like to compare teams. So, which aspect would you like to compare first? Or would you like to compare just overall team aspects? If I were you, I would stick to break out the parts of the team, because comparing the teams, I think going with the world champs would be a no-brainer. I DO believe our players and manager and GM have rings.

Let me continue my post. The issue is that Litetrain thinks Blalock is not an upgrade. Lets use other sources instead of ESPN and my opinion shall we? How about CBS's player rankings by position. Blalock 6 Crede 19 It also points out that he led AL 3B in fielding this year.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) If you're willing to give up on Field already, then I'm glad you're not a GM. It's been proven that Blalock is nothing outside of Ameriquest and is a horrible 2nd half player. I'm willing to ride out Crede for a year especially since it took Beltre that long as well to break out. Again, I'm not against trading Crede for an upgrade, but Blalock is not an upgrade. Not an upgrade huh? How many times has Crede been an All-star? Has he ever surpassed 100 RBI's? Has he even broken 80? Career Numbers: Blalock .274 .338 .471 .809 Crede .255 .303 .454 .742 thats just offense How about we throw in some comparable players based on Baseball-reference.com Crede: 1.Doug DeCinces 2. Max Alvis 3. Butch Hobson Blalock 1.Scott Rolen 2. Eric Chavez 3. Ken Keltner Blalock is only 25 years old too!!! With a better contract, better agent, better future. Come on.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Yeah and since Crede isn't a FA after this upcoming year, it would just make more sense to ride out Crede and if they are not satisfied with his production or don't want to pay him, Fields should be ready in time and they would get picks for Crede. I'm all for upgrading at 3B. Hank Blalock is not an upgrade, however. It's like trading in your black Lexus for a Silver one. All the same parts, just a different color. Also, Crede got streaky when he first changed his batting stance. Now he's just using the one he had when he first came up and so far it's worked big time. hahahaha. Hmm where should I start. Ride out Crede and wait for a player who struggles in the minors at the position or trade Crede whilee we still have him for somone we would have longer and cheaper? Blalock is a better player-offensively, and this year, defensively, serious, stop with that. Its like trading in a 2 year leased lexus for a different one, for longer lease period, for less money, and less chance of maintenance.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) I didn't say that. I said, they'd be better than this year's White Sox team with no moves. Thomas probably would've been hurt again, Everett would've kept on with his wild swing, no one to protect Konerko, and we wouldn't have gotten the same lucky bounces as we did last year. Would you like to compare pitching rotations, bullpens, defense or offense first to prove yourself wrong? You pick.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) We should sign Brian Giles. For what?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Oh yeah, since you know so much about me, what did I have for dinner last night? Probably something that you thought was going to be really good, then it didnt quite perform up to your predictions.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) This has been said for years that Joe Crede is the next superstar but its been over 5 years now and we are all still waiting for him to be what you say "one of the 5 best 3bs in the game". Also Blalock >>> Crede. However Garland and Crede >>> Blalock. That was never the trade in question. Just something VA made up to start these dumb threads. heres the link VA, Seriously dude, why?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Well one team with a need for an innings eating starter, who has the money to re-sign Garland would be the LAAAAA Angels. Their top starter was injured, and they could really use a starter who could go over 200 innings. That could be Vaz, or Garland. And they have the money for both, and the prospects for us. better option than the Cards.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) I wouldn't trade Joe Crede for him straight up? And I'm sure you could get Crede signed right now for Blalock's deal, even with Scott Boras as his agent. Joe Crede is going to turn into a monster for the Sox in 2006, just like he was in the postseason. Right there you should have stopped yourself... Try not to make yourself look like an idiot, please. Blalock is just as good on defense, is better on offense, even away from his home park, he hit better than Crede did AT HOME. And his agent is not Boras, and he is cheap. Seriously, come on.

QUOTE(LDF @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) mlb, espn, fox sports, cbs anaylsis of trades, let alone some sports writer all mention that the trade favored the other team, but in they know why kw did the trade. i guess most are judging on 2 levels, talent vs talent and then as a side note, how it will effect the team. i don't know, that is how i am reading it. MLB.com article link hmmm doesnt sound like they think its a bad trade Buster Olney of ESPN LInk article is titled in Kenny we Trust ESPN main article Link Here is a piece from an insider article from ESPN.com "Diamondbacks trade Javier Vazquez to the White Sox for Orlando Hernandez, Luis Vizcaino and outfield prospect Chris Young: A tremendous trade for the defending champs, who essentially deal off a broken down, aged swingman, a failed closer and a prospect with potential for a safe 220-inning pitcher. The White Sox won the World Series with pitching and the best rotation in the game. Vazquez slots in as potentially the best No. 5 starter in the game." http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/basebal...tory?id=2259031 Here is a radio clip of Jayson Stark who loves the move Stark Here is an article from the New York times' Jack Curry who like the moves Link Shall I continue with your sources? CBS analysis of trades rates the last one as in favor of the white sox CBS Fox Sports: Headline:Gm giving sox another shot at title Link I think thats enough for now, let me know if you want to quote any more phantom sources.

QUOTE(LDF @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:53 AM) but in all honesty, there are numerous of other reporters who works for the sports magazines have said that alot of the trades that kw has made were in the other teams favor. that being said esp with these last 3 trades, kw went out and address holes that the sox have. sometimes it is good to over pay in trades, if the key element is what is needed. i like the final outcome of the trades, but i am wondering if he could have gotten more, or was there another option. which gets me back to what i said. when kw gets fixated on a player yadda yadda ......... Links????? Please Every story I have seen says that we won out on all of the moves. So please, enlighten me with your sources.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Baltimore was until Raffy f'd up, their pitching went down the sh*tter and they didn't want to make the proper moves for a strong run. You're telling me if that team is any other divisions minus the AL Central or East, they don't make the playoffs? I'll beg to differ. They would've made it in any of the other ones. Toronto would've been a better team than us next year if we didn't make any moves. They get Halladay back for a full year, with Burnett, with Chacin(a year under his belt), with Ryan, and with Overbay. soooo... Baltimore was good until they played bad? So basically they just werent good enough to make the playoffs? That would make them a bad team, or NOT a playoff team.
