I just recently bought a new condo in the loop. And I am in the process of buying all new furniture etc for my place. The logical next step in my process is picking out a new bed and mattress and box spring. I go to the mattress store and begin looking at what looks to me, the same bed with 100 different names. So I beging to lay on them, sit on them, bounce on them. The salesmen asks me if I can feel the independent springs supporting my back and hips. All I feel underneith me is an overpriced version of the bed I just sat on 2 min before. He takes me to different brands, sizes, firmness, they all pretty much feel the same to me. He briefs my on the latest technology, wrapped springs, titanium frames etc etc. I cant even begin to decide!! I guess I will just go back again today and lay on some more models. -end rant

QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) Honestly, I believe that the next game vs. Pittsburgh will show the Bears that they need to bench Orton in favor of Grossman. Hey, quick question, what is Orton's record? And just to compare, what is Grossman's? Yeah, bench him for sure. :banghead

QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) so hes the most hated man on soxtalk because he gets good $ for his clients. sounds like some people on here are unappreciative of someone being good at their job. i could hate dell for selling the most computers, but i dont, because its business, and they're damn good at it, otherwise they wouldnt be #1 in the industry. its exactly the same thing. You are like the guy who knows nothing about baseball trying to equate your life with that of professional sports. He not only gets his client overvalued contracts, but because of his hamstringing ways, he makes the sport even more polar in its spending and talents levels, and makes talented players not available to teams with out the deepest pockets. This is not success, it is one of the main weaknesses of baseball. The polarity in the spending is driven by Free Agency, and Boras is one of the main violaters. In any business job there needs to be ethics-driven people who will keep the playing field level, and will operate within the realm of good business. Scott Boras is the person who does not adhere to these rules, and makes hte environment worse for the rest of the baseball and professional sports world. Defening him makes you look moronic, in the business sense, and the human being sense.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Wow, thats Jabroni?!?! I never would have guessed. He did an excellent job disguising it and I do agree new Jabs > old. He IS solid on NSBB boards though.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) After hearing that Garland turned down a three year deal from the Sox on ESPN Radio last week, it got The Rock thinking. From the lists of players to be traded the main pitching name that sticks out is Barry Zito. Now with Garland likely to leave in 2007, why not deal him now while his stock is the highest its ever been. Adding another lefty to the staff would be a great addition and from what I can tell Billy Beane loves good looking white pitchers (Zito, Mulder, Harden, etc). So I suggest trading Garland for Zito and securing Zito to one of those patented 3 year 20-some million contract, what do you guys think? dude, walk over to your tv, bend down, press green button, turn off xbox. Trade FA pitcher for FA pitcher and expect the pitcher with the best resume to accept the lowest offer? Dude, come on.

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) They did need bullpen, help and they got that. They also need a leadoff man and a outfielder. Pierre or Damon would fill both of these needs. overpaying for two middle of the road relievers isnt really a good move by the cubs. I would say the only good move that they could of done for their team wouldve been furcal. Every other player they are looking at now will still leave some serious holes.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Looks like the Yankees just got Juan Pierre for Scott Proctor and some other guy, per Quickman. Quick is now posting through you?? Looks like it could be true. Pierre

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) You must be disappointed. You seemed to like Pierre a lot. f***in Castillo was had for a song, we couldve gotten pierre for basically nothing as well. I didnt want him, but seriously we could've traded him to the cubs for pitching or a couple of guys from the diamondjaxx.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) I'm pretty sure that woman won't be too receptive to any parenting tips you might give her. More than likely you'd just make her angrier and she'd treat the kid worse when she gets home. Unless it gets physical, stay away. Pretty sad. Say a prayer for the girl - and her mom. 12 years later, that girl will be in porn.

good pic, she is decent looking.

I will tell you what, I would have loved to make this deal last season. Castillo is seriously more valuable IMO than Pierre. He is a better contact hitter and is more consistent, also a better defender. If he was had for 2 minor leaguers, why cant someone get pierre for the same price?

DOnt forget, Wickman is our b****.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I understand the significance of the last ball/curse being broken, etc. tied to this ball, but I don't really understand why someone would want to see it. It looks like every other ball that was used in the WS. It isn't mystical. What do you do, make a pilgrimage to see it, look at it for 10 seconds, and say "Wow!"? Then what? Both the Red Sox, and DM should look at Konerkos actions and compare it to theirs. Look in the mirror and wonder what kind of a person are they.

Phils fans are saying Abreu for Schmidt TIFWIW

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) lol but why would I want that I like my trio of Delmon Young, Felix Pie, and Ryan Sweeney And anyways this is baseball you really cant guarantee anything and a lot can happen in a season and I have never betted on sports and never will. You dont want to get rid of your Cubbie sig huh? :headshake

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) He wants to be a starter next season, and I think there are a few teams interested in giving him the starting spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go back and start at 2nd base for the Royals. where are you getting this info? Did you speak to him directly? I would like the link where he says he wants to be a starter.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) A deal would be made, if another team is involved, so be it.. But I think Webb would be great in a SOx uni.. I wanted him last year when most wanted Johnson. NO thanks, I would rather have Garland.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) Link Jim? I would really like to hear that...... In assessing his plan to move Juan Uribe and Tadahito Iguchi in the order, Guillen hopes batting second will make Uribe a more disciplined hitter while allowing Iguchi to drive in more runs from either the sixth or seventh spot. Moving Iguchi from the second spot "will give us a very good shot to see who he really is," Guillen said.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) This I would be against, let me tell you why. Owens looks like a blossoming leadoff hitter, the age thing doesn't mean much with this guy because he'd been away from baseball a few years. Less baseball miles on his body. Leadoff hitters are harder and harder to find and develop. Owens is a perfect replacement for Podsednik at some point if Pods gets expensive or injured. They want Owens to improve his walk rate, although as Keith noted he's got good strike zone judgement already and bat control as well. The thing is he's best suited defensively for LF. Chris Young is a potential high impact player who's best suited for CF. Sweeney is a potential high average great arm who's best suited for RF who'll be ready right about the time Dye's contract expires. Interesting that on Guillen's conference call yesterday, he "guarantees" they will have a new #2 hitter. Hmmmm ... Perfect assessment. All odds and performance point to Owens being a player similar to Pierre, but cheaper, possibly better defender, and maybe better hitter. I think Owens, YOung, Anderson stay in our system for now.
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) If your talking about Jerry Owens then I think it's a bad idea... Honestly I'd rather they just put a guy like Chris Young out there and just let him figure it out as he goes along... I think most likely to play CF next year: 1) Anderson 2) Young 3) Owens 4) Harris At least those are the in house options... What makes you think Young is more ready than Owens? Was it Owens batting title, or his dominance in the winter leagues?

If the cubs were smart they would offer Kerry Wood for Abreu, maybe they would bite on that.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Boston wants an ace pitcher in return from what I heard. That means Manny is staying in Boston. I can't see any team giving Boston what they want. I question Philly though because I would've done Manny for Abreu straight up. Philly said they want a top of the rotation starter for Abreu.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) That free agent list makes me cry...what a horrid list. I hope you are kidding or drunk. Compare that with this years crop...please I would take at least 4 LHP in that list.
