  1. I just finished closing on my first residential purchase. I just bought a condo in the west loop downtown and it has been an interesting experience. From negotiating, to inspection, to the closing table, you have to be prepared for things to go wrong at all time. Although im extremely excited for my first home, there are still hiccups along the way. Anyone have any good stories of your first purchase?
  2. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) I wish there was an other, because I like going to my families, having my world series championship hoddie on and just having a big smile on my face when we start to talk about baseball....yea, almost my entire family are cubs fans...i guess i was one of the lucky ones You are the only one not born retarded. Revel in it!
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) Quick question: Why do people think Marte and a mid-level prospect will be enough to get Pierre? Cocaine is a hell of a drug.
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) we're just dumb college kids, all we care about is beer remember? im not even in college and thats all I care about. Oh yeah, nice sig.
  5. The food-I fast for a day before just to fill up as much as possible. I will be deep frying a 15 lb bird in my parents backyard, couple that with my sisters famous stuffing and we have a winner!!!!
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) I agree. I emailed him and am waiting for his response. In the meantime, i'm celebrating or atleast planning to when it becomes official. Great trade for the RS if you ask me. Although, what happened to Hanley being untouchable? Do you think that was just Theo's opinion?
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) I want whatever it is that the Phils are smoking, cause its some good stuff. I'll hook you up.
  8. Does anybody REALLY expect crede to be here long term. Did you forget who his agent is?
  9. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Can someone explain why blisters are a chonic condition... I mean unless he has herpes of the hand they should heal... This just seems like a load of bulls*** to me... Sure, his are because of the continuous pressure he places on the fingertips because of his pitches. If you ever play golf, some people will continually get blisters in the same spot because of over use. Basically he needs to learn to grip the ball different of have Alou piss on his hands a couple of times to harden the skin.
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Does anyone think that GMs actually laugh when proposals like this are made? I really wouldn't know how to hide my laughter and/or disgust. Yes Phils, I will give you my ace of the second half last year, and a top tier defensive OF'er for your injured slugger who may not have any good at bats left in him, and who you need to move to make room for your phenom. Yes, sounds like a deal.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) It was Bruce Levine on ESPN Radio. Remember, this is the same Bruce Levine whose record of diarrhea at the mouth is only matched by the Wind Sock at the Sun Times. I wouldn't take it too hard... yet. Bruce Levine is also trying hard to rejuvinate the fan base of the cubs' faith in their org. If it sounds like the sox are making bonehead moves, maybe it will make people come back to the cubs. Bruce is never accurate on sox moves. In fact, his accuracy on the trade from yesterday was pretty off as well. For the cubs sake, I hope he is off on their offer to bobby Howry, jeez, overpaying two ex-sox players? Whats wrong with you Hendry?
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) My fault, I didnt think anyone would argue Juan in rf. I apologize.
  13. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 02:18 AM) They are starting to look like a NHL team.. they have me excited. I will tell you what is not exciting, the performace of our "stars". Daze, Arny etc real dissapointment.
  14. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) I disagree. There's not much room to cover on the corners & the alley ways are very symetrical. Symetry is a best friend to speed. It makes adjustment a LOT easier. You might disagree but I felt as the season drew on Pods got more accustomed to LF at the Cell & started to play some stellar defense. As much blame as the White Sox get for the Cell they should get equal praise for creating one of the best diamonds in the majors to play in. What does room to cover have to do with arm strength? So he makes a good catch or pickup in the RF corner because the symmetry is good. Then what? Do you really think his arm will keep a runner from tagging and advancing to 3rd base? What if there were no outs? Would that cost us a run, a victory? That OF of JP a-row and PODS makes me want to trade in my tickets for next year, that is the lightest hitting OF in the game. If this is the case, our offense is SEVERELY doomed next year. In case you werent aware, this team is dependent on power and HR's.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) For the record Pierre had 7 assists last year and Aaron had 3. Yes, that is correct. Of course we are talking about when Juggs said JP in right field, which would mean you would compare JP's arm and assists with that of Jermaine Dye. Your comparison was good and all, just didnt fit the argument, thanks.
  16. Juggs, arm strength means ALOT no matter what ballpark you are in. Do NOT make me bring up the OF assits numbers again from last year. Not only that, but Dye keeping the runner from advancing to 3rd has saved us many runs in the process. That OF would be the least productive offensively and the weakest throwing in the business, no thanks.
  17. QUOTE(Fingish @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) What would you think of us trying to get involved in getting Beckett himself? We could involve Garland in a trade, maybe w/ more than 1 team. I would like the looks of a: Beckett Buehrle Contreras Garcia McCarthy Finglish, if you would like my opinion I will give it to you. I like the rotation of MB Garland Count BMAC Garcia way more than the one with Beckett. I see Beckett as inconsistent, oft injured and soon to be overpaid. Garland is much more consistent, and eats more innings on avg.
  18. Jim, Heres my post with emotion attached to it. Juan Pierre can take his .326 OBP and his .354 SLG and go to a team that will overpay for his ass. We dont need him, there is no fit, and we would be a worse team offensively and defensively with him on our roster.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Just because you don't like it or agree with it doesn't mean it won't happen. Again, I am taking emotion out of it and listening to what the manager has said, and we both know he has lots of say so in terms of how the team is made up. Yes, he said more speed. Never did he say trade starters to take on an overpaid clone of our lead off man. Also, taking emotion out of it, when has KW picked up a sought after FA? How about one that makes 4 million dollars and is basically an overpaid version of a player you already have? Also, is KW usually interested in pplayers who will become FA's soon? Yes he said more speed, but there are alot other "fast" players out there, the only reason you are thinking of Pierre is because the cubune and this message board topic. If you really think about it, it doesnt make sense for this team. I personally think Gooch is a more effective #2 hitter than JP would be anyway. PLUS we have a JP in the making absolutley TEARING up AA and the fall league as we speak, and for much cheaper, and much less risk. The odds of bringing up Owens are greater than that of trading for Pierre, and that Jim, is the bottom line here.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) I do think something is in the works though. When Guillen says he wants more speed at the top of the lineup and a #2 hitter so he can move Iguchi down ... to me that points to Juan Pierre - especially since Guillen knows him really well. I guess I'm looking more and more at the realities here vs. what I want as a fan. K, so what part of our winning formula says trade some starters for an overpriced clone of a lead off hitter you already have? Just because he has speed doesnt mean he is a fit. If you would really like a slap hitting speedy OF'er with questionable defense next year, why not move up the cheapest option in the form of Jerry Owens. Cheap, affordable, can be moved down, doesnt sacrafice any of our peices. Trading for Pierre is a moronic and unrealistic move for KW. It just wont happen. There is no place for him on this team, and frankly it may hinder the offensive production more than help it. Not to mention overpaying him a bit is not the whitesox way.
  21. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) I wonder if the Sox could be involved in this trade? http://www.palmbeachpost.com/marlins/conte...rlins_1120.html Marlins get Hank Blalock, Damaso Marte, Aaron Rowand, & a pitching prospect from the White Sox Rangers get Josh Beckett & Mike Lowell White Sox get Adrian Gonzalez & Juan Pierre Ummm, dont you think we are getting a bit ripped off there? We are getting a minor leaguer who hasnt proven a thing and a player who is going to be a FA and really had an off year. The Rangers get a WS MVP and a starting player, the marlins get one of the best LH pitchers available at a good price, a top tier starting CF'er and an all-star GG caliber 3B who mashes the ball, and a prospect? I hope your xbox didnt fry when you input this trade.
  22. im willing to bet that we dont get Juan Pierre. He would be a nice additon offensively, but defensively, I would see him a good fit. Then signing Kong would be a must as well, because we are losing many RBIS. I really dont think he is a fit on this team. I would however take Lowell and Becket and then trade the COunt for a bat. but thats another story all together.
  23. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) I don't care how good Blaylock is, I don't think you ever should trade good young pitching like Beckett. Particularly since this would leave 1 of 5 pitchers from a world series team two years ago. If the Marlins trade Delgado or Blaylock for another starter it makes a little more sense. But Blalock is ALOT more consistent than Beckett. You dont think he is still just riding his performance in the WS a bit? It seems to me he is oft injured and a little inconsistent. I could see where FLA is looking for young offense. Cabrera and Blalock would be an extremely young 1-2 punch for the next several years. With castillo in front of them, and whoever is leading off, that is a pretty tough lineup to face, not to mention then having Delgado...Not a bad move IMO.
  24. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Yes, Ronnie Woo-Woo. If there was capital punishment for being a Cubs fans, I vote that we start with Ronnie. Well you have to admit, its pretty nice of the cubs organization to glorify a homeless crackhead.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 05:13 PM) That's the name that jumped out at me as well. Maybe the Sox are serious about bringing along the knuckelballer. That's so f***ing cool. Man, I hope he flat out dominates in the minors. I would Loooooove to see us using a knuckler
