  1. Someone tell this guy that Daigle is no longer with the sox organization, thanks
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Ahh. My gold mine is coming then. Actually, I'm not sure how it can - but I'll explain that in a later post, if any of you care. It can RESEMBLE S-O. But it would be more civil law vs. a felony, say. PM me on this, I would love to hear more. And other stuff about what im doing vs what you think.
  3. There is a street the runs east west, but is one way going west. Its about one block south of the park. There is street parking for free, its just south of the lot. Nobody ever parks on the street because nobody knows you can park there. But it almost entirely empty every time I go to a game, bulls or hawks. I wish I could remember what it was, it might be adams.

Out come the video games and the cheese curls.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Oh hell yea. Especially where I am now. I see a tremendous business opportunity for a niche to help consult companies going public how to upgrade their stuff to be S-O compliant. Wanna go into business? And no, not the green-weed business. We could really use someone with that knowledge, it would be a lucrative business. As of right now we are still in the process of almost giving away the spreadsheet control product to get some references, but my company is a huge player in the market and its just going to grow.
  6. Def making the trip to Great American to see us whip the Reds, my national league team.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) I would call it chronically injured seems like different kinds of injuries to me, lower, upper, side. Are we just saying that anywhere in the back makes it chronic? Because then rotator cuff and tommy john surgery would be the same thing since its in the arm.
  8. Paulie is simply not worth that contract. He had a great end of the season, and his postseason was good as well. BUt frankly, his playoff hot streak will overshadow his struggles during the year and his dissapearence in the first half. He is prone to having to correct his swing many times of the course of a season, and this leads to inconsistency and makes him prone to off years as we have seen. Honestly, Paulie isnt nearly as good a player as Maggs was.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) True, but I have been around this type of discussion many times while everybody was getting high. You were at my apt last night too?
  10. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I'd have a field day offering you stories and opportunites, both from a large corporation setting to a "private" small company setting. Private is not technically applicable to sarbanes, unless they intend on going public. Oh yeah? Right now we are focused on the public companies and the extreme focus on spreadsheet control going forward with 404. It seems that everybody is using too much manual effort when one piece of software will satisfy all the requirements.
  11. No way we go beyond 5 years. If thats what he wants, we wont pay it. I really dont think its worth that many years. People seem to forget that kong can have horrendous seasons.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) We're in the middle of selling off a division so they are being extra careful to dot all the "i's" and cross all the "t's". It's a pain in the ass because I can't run closing reports until they say all is good to go. They've been here for 4 months.. haven't found 1 mistake. Good to know there hasnt been one mistake. I have dealt with bad and good cases. i tell ya, its a headache for everyone.
  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) I never said there wasnt a market for a closer. If anything, I would say there is little to no market for a closer with a chronically injured back, and that the teams that you mentioned would be foolish to trade for Hermanson given his injury history and current salary. And dont get me wrong, someone could be very foolish and take a chance on him (did anyone think that the Cubs were going to be able to unload Todd Hundley?), but I am certainly not going to count on it. I wouldnt call it chronically injured. I wasnt aware that he had issues with his back having surgery his whole career?
  14. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) They still suck. I know it. I sell enterprise software, but my niche is analyzing sarbanes and financial auditor costs and headaches. And I sell solutions to close the books faster and now spreadsheet control for sarbanes compliance. Im always curious to the process and the problems people have.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) I'm bored waiting for the damn Auditors to get their s*** together and leave so I can close October. sarbanes auditors or just financial?
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Why does it matter? 8A belongs to Brother Rice. hahahahaha, how is brother rice even in 8a?
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Pirates will keep going back to the well for Mesa until he retires, Tigers will keep trotting out Percival next year until his arm falls off again, the Cubs actually do have a closer, and paid him to be a closer, the Red Sox will have Foulke, and the Royals have that Ambiorix Burgos kid, Mike Macdougal, and Jeremy Affeldt. It isnt as cut and dry as you think it is, and I dont think any of the above mentioned teams are willing to take a chance on a bad back, just because they dont have 40 saves on their staff So we can agree there is a market? Cause you only tried to dispell a couple of teams from the running. Even though the Bucks prob wont keep mesa, Percival is done, Foulke might be as well.
  18. Teams that dont have closers next year: Royals Reds Pirates Tigers Mets Red Sox O's Mariners Cubs ( they think they do) Marlins Most of these clubs had under 40 saves last year. We were tied for first in the league in saves. This is what makes up a market for a closer.
  19. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) His 2005 numbers. But his bad back and possible need for surgery negates them. It doesnt negate them. And there is a possibility that he wont be back to the form that we saw him this year. You put a player with his saves on the block, someone will bite. There are many teams that dont even have a semblance of a close, let alone one who has saved as many games as Hermy did. And 3 million for someone who may close over 30 games is a bargain IMO. You better guarantee that someone would be willing to take a chance on him.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Once again, how do you propose we trade Hermanson when you admit that he may need back surgery and he will be owed $3 million next season? Just curious. Let me answer your question with a question, how many saves did he have last year?
  21. Bulls are gonna be missing Curry this year.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) Do you advocate spending $8 million per season? I dont advocate spending any money, but thats why they cal it a WISH list, not a "realistic interpretation of needs in the offseason relative to budget and chemistry" thanks for the info the other day BTW
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) He would be a waste of money for us. We need more offense now, not pitching. Other than trading Marte and signing a lefty like Scott Eyre or Mike Myers and possibly trading El Duque, our pitching staff is pretty much set. -this guy doesnt think it would be a waste of money. I think he would make the staff unbeatable, and I also think that we trade 1 of either marte or hermanson as well.
  24. BJ Ryan, bar none. Would strengthen our pitching staff immensely.
  25. ESPN didnt learn from picking the tribe to beat us last year, guess they havent learned their lesson yet, lets just repeat then.
