Politte's option exercised, Everett's Declined
RockRaines replied to Goober's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Ah, ok. Thanks for the explanation. Makes sence. But I thought Giles was close to inking back with the Pads? From what I know about the Cubs (not much honestly), they have Patterson, Murton, and Ben Grieve in the OF and Burnitz is a FA. Those are some big holes. Grieve is an overpayed stinker, Patterson is, well, Patterson, and Murton is an up and coming prospect I believe. Giles is definitely an upgrade but do they have enough to lock up Furcal and Giles PLUS the contracts of Ramirez, Lee, and the starters. Hmm. I think Pie is their best bet instead of Patterson. i would unload patterson if I was them. I dont see the cubs getting any of the top FA's, just based on some of their track records. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) If you consider it being Neifi Perez and Todd Walker you would be right.... but it started off being Nomar and Walker.... which is pretty good... both good offensive players neither are really that good defensively but not horrible. Nomar=FA Walker=butcher defensively. Their team is so terrible. I dont even know where to begin. Some of the worst fundamentals I have seen since, well, the sox in 2003.

It looked like it just snapped out of nowhere. Methinks he isnt long for the NFL, that wasnt a bad step, nor a bad hit.

Do you know what is Bullshit about the Illini

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) It is that they won't even be going bowling for another 2 or 3 years. Yet Ohio State doesn't get suspended from any bowl games when they have the most dirty program in College Sports. Not only did one guy Clarrett get caught getting free benefits, Troy Smith and countless others did. Yet they didn't get punished at all. This is complete bulls*** and this is not because I am a Michigan fan. Who knows whether A.J. Hawk got payed for coming to OSU. It is possible he did. STFU you little b****y Michigan fan. The most dirty program, come on. If you want to talk about sports in general, didnt U of M get a title taken from them? Do you think maybe there is a reason that other schools get punished, oh yeah they get caught cause they are stupid. If you think that only a select few schools give their players benefits you are dead wrong. EVERYONE does it. I will tell you our big QB at my school (I wont name names but he plays on a NFL team based in pittsbugh) definatley got his share of freebies. In fact my buddy who was a nickel back got a ton of s*** from the school. The morons that get caught, get punished. -
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) i wanted ideas on what the TATTOO should get like. Not your opinion on if I should get one or a spelling lesson. my best friend has the batsman from the 83 logo. its pretty cool, but also seems to be a common tatto.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) Thanks for playing this week's version of "I'm a moron because I like to blindly use statistics to gauge a prospect's ability" is this really necessary?

I think alot of people are under estimating what Carl did for us in the first half of the season. He may have fallen off a bit at the end, but it was understood considering it had been some time since he was fully healthy. But he was about as clutch as anyone can be in the first half driving home some ciritical RBI's. Not to mention being there when Frank couldnt perform for us. Carl splits April .280 .330 .818 May .198 .275 .583 June .350 .344 1.028 He drove in around 20 runs in April and June, really helping out an offense that was struggling. Thanks for everything Crazy Carl! -
Zombie-italian night of the living dead knock off, worse than any of those The audition-honestly probably the sickest movie of all time.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) I love those e-mails...I can't believe I'm a Reinsdorf lover...WOW! He brought 7 titles to chicago, its hard not to love the guy.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Billy Beane could hold a gun to my head and I wouldn't even consider that deal. Yeah, I would never take a perennial gold glover and all star 3B for a 4th starter.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) This type of thinking fails to take anything other than hesitancy into account. "the only solution"??? So, we're afraid to take a chance now? We're afraid to trust our scouting and player development people? We're afraid to replace a disappointing offensive player with one who has a higher ceiling but may struggle initially? We're not replacing our heart of the order. We're replacing perhaps our weakest offensive player, here. I agree with you on letting Anderson get his shot. But A-row should have the chance to prove that last year was a down year, especially because his presence in the clubhouse.

Downers Grove North with a first round shutout. Looking to beat the crap out of Barrington to advance once again. -
QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) What about Eric Chavez? Everyone knows he's a better defensive player than anyone in the league. Hes better at 3B than crede, sorry.

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) I can honestly say i don't care one bit about the cubs right now. We won the arm's race. What are they going to do? win the world series......TOO? I just dont get where this confidence is coming from. I mean, you have an overrated pitching rotation where a grandpa was your best pitcher this year. Your OF is one of the worst hitting, worst fielding I have ever seen. You middle IF is probably one of the worst in the game. Your catcher is known for calling a terrible game. Your bullpen is filled with has beens and never will bes, and your freakin closer is Ryan Dempster? A pretty average pitcher as a whole. I mean, except for maybe 1B and 3B, every player on the sox is better at their position. Any one of our bullpen arms would be the close on the cubs staff. Who is their fifth starter? Glendon Rusch? Pear shaped body, no arm. That team is so bad on paper, how can anyone be confident about winning. Especially when they look even worse on the field. Bad coaching, horrible fundamentals.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) Id put my money on the sox again next year cubs have a long way to go, but you never know How many teams that finish 4th one year in their division, come back to win it all the next year?

Simply put, you dont know what you dont know. Anderson could outperform A-row based on his numbers and his talent level, then again, he could be much worse. What we DO know is that A-row costs more, seems to be coming off of an extremely dissapointing year offensively, and is an asset in the clubhouse. Anderson is a mystery at this point. Would I like to see BA starting? Yes. Do I think he is going to be better thatn A-row? Yes. But we dont want to just replace A-row with an unproven player. The only real course is to use BA as a 4th OF'er this year, and let them play it out. Thats the only solution.

QUOTE(juddling @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) Joe had an incredible post-seson and his glove was steady all year long but man i'm really getting tired of watching him hit .230 all year long...especially when he'll tease you for a couple of weeks with .350 hitting only to go back to his .230. Yes, because players never go above or below their BA pretty much throughout the season, they stay at their avg all the time and never waiver. Come on man, what do you think stats are for. Do you think Paulie hit his avg all year? So soon you forget him hitting under 200 for alot of the time. Thats why they call it an avg, because its the avg between your highs and your lows.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) On top of all of this...let's also not forget that a lot of people were saying the ideal trade bait for a guy like Chavez would be BMac. I would still do it.

Manny wants a trade again....to the ChiSOx
RockRaines replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(rventura23 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) We do NOT need Manny Ramirez. He is a phenominal hitter, but hes lazy, complains too much, and is bad for the clubhouse He has a ring that proves this isnt such a big issue. Manny as a DH would be phenomenal. -
I hate Farmer too. Goodbye to listening to the game on the radio.

writing a professional letter and using the words "boobs" and "pissed" will usually hurt your credibility. Just a thought....

QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) the obvious key to being this damn good next year is resigning paul, no questions asked. Do that and everything else is gravy in my book. wow, that sig is man love overload
