QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) I think they can become competitive again 7-4, 8-3...they are and never will be a premier football power. But it is inexcusible to be this bad when you have the city of Chicago in your backyard. Ferentz recruits heavily in chicago, and is getting alot of the biggest recruits. I think its going to be a uphill battle for IL.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) yeah and their leading rusher last year rushed for 200 yards. Drew Tate can't carry that team by himself. Last year? I didnt know that last year factored into this year's team.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) because they have been putting up scary numbers on offense. That won't last much longer. Michigan's defense has actually been solid this season. They haven't allowed that many points. They also have the best receiver in the Big Ten in Jason Avant. He is in the top ten in the Nation for almost every important receiving category. He leads the Big Ten in Receiving yards by a large amount. Their defense is solid? They have been giving up points like its going out of style. Wisconsin is a one man team, stop the run, stop wisco. They couldnt stop the run. Face it, this team was ridiculously overrated, they miss Edwards, the defense looks slow, and they are reeling.

shes an endless source of humor for me.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) They're are a lot of irrational Illini fans, so of course they did... This year means pretty much nothing. Zook has almost none of his own players...he is left with a lot of slow, talentless, Turner recruits. Give him time to get his guys in there...and then you can judge Zook and his lack of defense. Notice how Notre Dame is now winning with Willingham's recruits...he was never given a chance with his own players, which I think is a bunch of baloney. Just wait until ND plays with Weis's recruits. Ill is not going to be a football hot bed. IOWA out recruits IL in its home state and its largest city. I dont see Zook making a run at the big ten title any time soon.

The defense looked pretty damn good. Orton just had one of those days. You can expect at least 7 more of these losses, dont jump ship yet. They have the lowly browns next game.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) no they won't. They still have an outside chance at the big ten tittle. I ain't sold on OSU. Also Iowa has NO running game. Purdue always finds some way to blow it. MSU has a flawed defense. Im not saying it's going to be easy however don't count them out. How many yards/point was IOWA averaging until they hit the bucks d-fense? MSU is dominating good teams, and frankly will beat Michigan this year. If you arent sold on OSU, you havent been watching. They gave the game away vs Texas, and just punished IOWA this weekend. Negative 20 rushing yards.

Yankees. We suck out west, and dont play well against the bosox. I feel like the yankees have the weakest starting pitching. Although they have been extremely hot.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) I'm nit sure how many times I have to call this plan: A ) Stupid B ) Asinine C ) ludicrous before people stop saying it. YOU DON'T BRING UP PRIZED PROSPECTS AND SIT THEM. ESPECIALLY IF YOUR CF'ER IS A .750 OPS PLAYER WITH INFERIOR DEFENSE TO THE PROSPECT! Sheesh. Guys, if anyone is going to be the 4th OF'er next year, it's Rowand. Get over it between now and April 1st next year... PLEASE! I have yet to see if he is worthy of a starting job in the MLB. I am still in favor of trading Dye though and starting Anderson in his place. I think Dye is at his peak performance and durability level and it will save us money to sign some FA's.

The more you are pounded inside, the more you want to try and turn on a fastball. Then the outside corner looks like it should be a ball. When you see the inside constantly, you will look at several pitches on the outside corner. its something we havent been doing lately at all.

Did Illinois fans really have expectations for the team this season?
-
They have fallen out of the rankings. The first time since 1998. Impressive streak, Lloyd Carr, your train is boarding.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) ... or they will g to arbitration with him. Why sign a below average player to a muti year deal unless you expect him to make more in arbitration than the long term deal. He has three years of arbitration left and i expect them to offer it to him for two more years ( if he sticks around) and then go from there. I dont believe Joe is below average. I have seen him make strides in my mind of the past few years, and I think we are spoiled by having someone reliable at 3B. Imagine having pablo there every game, cause thats about what we can hope for. If anyone on this board thinks we are going to sign a big name FA they are mistaken. Nobody is going to change my mind on this. I think Joe is about as reliable as they come at the hot corner, and I would hate to see him go.
-
I disagree, I think we lock him up in a multi year deal. He has plenty of pop for a bottom of the order guy, and has a great glove. He is just fine by me. He will never hit in the middle of the order, and I've accepted that. But as far as bottom of the order hitters go, he is above average. Unless we can package him and some pitching for Bonds???

AH, its just guys having fun. Its not like hes sleeping with them in the pics. Not to mention that player's wives know what they are getting into when they are with pro ball players. You get a nice car, nice house, nice jewelry and sometimes a faithful husband.

thats pretty damn funny right there

I just started looking to buy a new condo in chicago. Im planning on closing in december and moving come spring time. What a horrible process!!!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) I think a big part of the defense on Sunday is going to be blitzing DBs. The couple times we brought Harris and Brown on blitz' we really got to Harrington, now if the Bears can implement some blitz's from the outside using Tillman, Vasher and Azumah, we could seriously raddle Palmer. Also, delayed blitz' Urlacher off the right side of the defense on the left Gaurd worked very well, with Brian picking up 2 sacks and forcing an INT on another blitz. The fact that we can successfully blitz anybody on our defense at anytime is a huge headache for the offense. The fact that we can blitz anyone in our secondary at any time should scare some offensive coordinators. There is nobody we wont blitz and our scheme allows us such.

QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Actually I just found out it says Who Covered 85 ?? Next to each corners name it has Yes or No. I thought it said something about 85 yards. What does a corner have to do to merit a checkmark? "They have to stop me one time," Johnson said. "That's it. One time to bat a ball down within four quarters. That gets a check in their box." He is a really good receiver right now. But I dont think he is ready for our d at this point. We will get burned a couple of times, but we will also lay a nice hit on you every time you touch the ball. Palmer hasnt seen a pash rush like ours yet, and hasnt had anyone blitz from the angles like we do. Harrington had no trouble sitting in the pocket against Green Bay, but when it came to our scheme, he didnt know who was coming from where.

The knicks have nothing we need. Curry is just mad that he has to prove himself again this year. Any team that takes a chance giving him a long term deal at this point is f-in retarded. He could Hank Gathers on us in the first game for all we know. He needs to prove himself this year, let us sign him, and then keep the team together.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well put. This kid is the real deal, no matter how much run he is getting on the national radar. He'll prove himself in time. Hes been pretty good this year, and i think he will take a huge step next year. The guy has amazing sutff and poise.

When will the Sox score their next run?
RockRaines replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is it really that much out of question to sit Carl and let Brian Anderson have a stab at it. Carl has looked downright awful lately, and I think I could strike him out on a pitch in the dirt. The guy doesnt even watch the ball hit his bat anymore.
