  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) I know this is simple and may sound arrogant, but I just want my closer to get 3 outs without allowing a run. Contrary to popular belief, a leadoff double has a much greater chance of scoring than a leadoff walk. I know leadoff walks always seem to kill teams, but a double not only avoids the double play, but it allows the other team to execute well and get a run without having to get a hit. True that, but I would rather him just retire the side 1, 2, 3.
  2. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I never get shotgun... I'll give you shotgun, buts thats only cause cause im goin inside.
  3. QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Man, I'd love me some split season club level seats. Also, steff, are your seats 1st row behind OD circle? I had those seats once on the visitor side once, probably the best seats I've ever had. I would second that. I would love to split some club seats for next year.
  4. QUOTE(shakes @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) You may very well be right. It was just phrased very poorly. I hate walks as much as the next, but I think Hawk and DJ harp on it a little too much, at times. IMHO I think he presented it the wrong way during the game, but I knew what he meant. I would rather get beat trying to attack the hitter than walking him and having him score later.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) You can split them.. I know they say you can't.. but you can. Give Joe Jung a call for me then, cause he gave me the no no on it.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Last time I checked, a walk isn't a guaranteed run. A homer is a guaranteed run. Also, a double puts the opposition in such a better position to score, as they don't even need another hit to get the runner in. Yes, but his point was put it in the strike zone where we can at least have a chance to get an out. And if he homers, fine, then we are tied. If he doubles, fine, then he beat you. But at least attack the strike zone and give us a chance to beat them, instead of giving a free pass.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Full season behind the OD circle (where we are) for 4 is 15K with the Stadium Club, so 2 would be just over $7500. You can split everywhere in the park I believe. Quick and Jim would know about the club level for sure. Ribbie knows about the UD, and Zach23 has bleacher seasons so he would know about those. And Rock, I agree about the CC. But waaaay too much $$. you cant split the club level, that full season only. And the premium lower deck are full season only as well. Only past the bases and the OF and uppers can be split season. I had bleachers last year in 160 row 1, and I have first base line this year. I hope to get the club level next year. Steff, I had a guy tell me he had CC for last game, and I figured, sweet im getting a deal. He was like, its only 350 a ticket.
  8. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Without hearing anything on this topic during the game, I would assume he meant it as he would rather give up a shot hit by throwing strikes as oppossed to walking someone. You can make a great play on a well hit ball. The walk has no defense. That is exactly right. And I agree with that line of thinking. He wants to at least give the defense a chance.
  9. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) I don't have any idea what RockRaines is talking about, nor do I care, because at this point nothing he says makes one iota of sense, but I did make a poster for balta and a couple other guys. I dont get how you can say Crede is one of the worst players in the league, and you still hate him. Yet you hold belhorn close to your heart. He got cut by his own team, and is obviously not as good as Crede, yet you hate crede. THAT makes no sense. (among the many things you have said, like trading rowand, etc)
  10. QUOTE(farmteam @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) What do full season season tickets (2 seats) cost, assuming you're in the "season ticket section" (i.e. right around home plate)? No way I could afford them, but I wonder how expensive they are. buy the split season tickets then. It very affordable and its more than enough games for most people. 27 games is alot if you have been a season ticket holder before. And steff, the CC is downright bad ass. Makes the club level as the Cell look like upper deck.
  11. yes, private bathrooms pretty much, no line for concessions. Awesome lounge, you have waiters. I prefer club to sitting below
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) You've sat in EVERY seat..?? Having season tickets we roam before the games.. and I would not pay to sit in the 400 level. JMO. you should try it. The view is actually really good as long as you are within 20 rows of the front. I have sat in the top row, all the way to row 5 in the 100 level. They are ALL good.
  13. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) One hit, albeit possibly the hit of the year, doesn't change how I think of Joe Crede. Mark Bellhorn, Bill Mueller.. all those 2004 Red Sox hold a special place in my heart, as im sure Crede will in yours. ummm it was two hits. And saying he is one of the worst players in baseball and then mentioning a player who got cut from his team as being special to you, is pretty hypocritical
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I wasn't part of that argument so I can not elaborate. I wasnt trying to argue, I was just trying to say that I think every seat in the stadium has a great view, that is all.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) There aint nothing "lower" about section 444. And it's in the north corner. you cant argue though, that pretty much every seat in the stadium is a good seat.
  16. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) But the Mets have Royce Ring! that coulda been Nick Swisher
  17. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) It's not the type of hat, it's how you wear it. I wonder how come baseball players don't wear their hats backwards? Maybe because they're meant to be worn forwards? sometimes it fits better backwards. When i wear my hat forward its a baggy and weird looking in the front, but when I wear it backwards it actually fits my head.
  18. I would rather have zambrano. He was downright dominant last year, and is good this year. The guy is impressive.
  19. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Shotgun! I would like to point out that im already riding shotgun, and I called no challenge.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Must. . . resist . . tasteless joke . . . come on, you know you can do it. Slight disclaimer: I used chewing tobacco and "dip" for over 8 years. It was one of the toughest things to give up, but I have seen the mouth and throat cancer that comes from it. Dont start using it, because you might not be able to stop.
  21. Dont forget that Wickman is gone. They are saying Betancort and Riske are going to be shipped in the offseason. Belliard will be gone. They are going to get raped in FA.
  22. Joe looked at a ton of video while he was on the DL and changed his stance. I have never seen him swing like he did on that last homer last night. He was short and quick and got the head out on the ball. Usually he has to get extended to hit the ball out. It was a great swing.
  23. wow, if I had 4 tickets instead of 2 I would make that trade in an instant
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) It's a junior high look my friend, per the attractive ladies. did they have hats when you were in junior high? I have gotten nothing but positive feedback, maybe its because its a sox hat.
