  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Man I didn't even know that stat...great work while I was gone Jose please go away again, jinx
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) Would he have injured his foot playing in USCF? Never know. based on his previous history, yes. 5 days after we traded for him, he would have been hurt.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) I think that will be a long running hit show. no doubt. Lets hope its with the sox.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) No doubt, if Jose pitches half as well as he did in August he should be our number 4 guy in the playoffs. you are correct, but I would rather have BMAC than El Duque. And I have no qualms about getting rid of el duque next season.
  5. Prayers and condolences. Im sure everyone on here feels the same way.
  6. man, you know its a slow day when were are debating sucking vs not sucking
  7. does anyone know what our second half record is?
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Sox owe Lima a rough outing tonite, let's hope so. I thought that Yeast guy had a Brando-esque quality to him, unbelieveable he's so clueless as to keep coming back and getting bounced. I mentioned the name Brando to him and he seemed to clam up a bit. hmmmmm
  9. thanks SSI, I LOOOVE that pic.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) lol that could work too. Or turn him into the batboy. the bat boy DOES drive a durango
  11. I would like to see what he can do as well. Either that, or just make him carry all the gear. At least get a little return on your investment.
  12. QUOTE(Wedge @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Every Michigan board I've looked at is at best apprehensive about this coming game. It feels good to strike fear in the hearts of man, once again. Michigan is going to get a large reality check real fast. They lost arguably the BEST receiver in their history, and all they can talk about is Avant and Breaston. Come on. Not to mention that they defense is not nearly as good as it has been, and they are swiss cheese when facing mobile QB's. Cant wait to see OSU beat Texas this weekend.
  13. Anyone need tix for sat? Garland vs Colon? Face value+4 bucks for the transfer fee

  15. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) As much as i'd like them too I don't think that the Indians are just going to roll over and play dead... Which means that as long as they keep matching us win for win we won't clinch for at least another couple of weeks... I fully believe that the Indians peaked mostly due to their constant playing of TB. I think that with their series at Min that just ended, they have come back to earth a bit, and we have started to pick it up. MLB is all about who gets hot, and when. And I think we are starting to ramp up at the right time. On the topic, I fully expect Borchard to get some swings against KC if we can win the first two games.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) Anyone who has confidence in El Pukee is crazy. I don't want that guy touching the ball during the postseason. I was all for it, but after watching his last several outings, I now know that he is always good for 4 runs. So, we start him in a playoff game, he shuts them out for 4 innings, then gives up a 3 run bomb, and 2 doubles making the score 4-0. We are facing the yankees and they have Mussina on the mound. He shuts us down for 7 innings with only one run. Then they turn the ball over to Gordon and Rivera. the game ends 4-2. With ANY other pitcher on the mound, was there a better chance for us to win?
  17. I got my first car on my 16th. My parents paid for everything. But it wasnt s stellar vehicle. I didnt get a nice car until I went away to college.
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) So, we're gonna give the ball to a rookie who has had 2 good starts and zero playoff experience over a veteran who has a pretty good post season record? The question is, when was he effective in the postseason. El Duque postseason pre-2000 5-0 1.02 ERA 2000-now 4-3 4.03 ERA
  19. I see no reason why we shouldnt try El Duque in the pen. Hermy is hurt and we need another quality arm in there. El Duque only gets in trouble when his mind is not in the game. Brining him in for late game situations may trigger that "clutch" aspect of his game, no to mention really set up the batters for k's vs Jenks. I think the El Duque could be a set-up man/closer for another team next year, as his age is becoming a factor, and he has lapses of concentration.
  20. Im actually anxious to see Borchard get some playing time. It looks like his numbers took a nice turn about mid way through the season in AAA, and I would like to see if he made any significant progress. If he could hit 270-280 and 30 hr's, we would make a nice player in the bigs. We shall see
  21. Borchard, Anderson, Bajenaru join team today September 6, 2005 BY DOUG PADILLA STAFF REPORTER Advertisement BOSTON -- The second wave of roster additions is scheduled for today. Right-hander Jeff Bajenaru and outfielders Brian Anderson and Joe Borchard are expected to be recalled. For Borchard, the Sox' first-round draft pick in 2000 (12th selection overall), it will be his first trip to the major leagues this season after playing with the Sox in each of the previous three seasons. Borchard is a career .182 hitter in 95 major-league games with 12 home runs and 30 RBI. The switch-hitter's longest run of playing time came last season after Magglio Ordonez was injured. Borchard batted .174 in 63 games (201 at-bats) with nine home runs and 20 RBI. On Aug. 30, 2004, in a makeup game against the Philadelphia Phillies, he hit a 504-foot home run off Brett Myers, the longest home run in U.S. Cellular Field history. Borchard had a strong second half at Class AAA Charlotte and batted .261 with 28 home runs and 66 RBI for the Knights this season. Borchard suggested earlier this season that he might be better off with a fresh start in a new organization. Anderson made his major-league debut for two weeks last month while Scott Podsednik was on the disabled list, and the highlight was his two-homer game Aug. 26 against Seattle. Bajenaru was recalled for two games last week and pitched a scoreless inning. He was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA in nine games (81/3 innings) in September 2004. BREAK TEST: Joe Crede is expected to give his broken right middle finger a stern test this week to better gauge when he might return from the disabled list. He is eligible to return Friday, but there are indications he could be out much longer. ''We don't know anything about it,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said. ''Right now, we're still waiting. We're going to make the decision and see how he feels. He has to feel real good to be activated because I'm not going to activate him just to have a body. Hopefully, he will feel better.'' NO FREE PASS: The Sox still were irked Monday at the erroneous report last month in the New York Daily News that they had voted to forfeit Monday's makeup game instead of losing one of the few days off they had remaining. ''Whoever said that should be punished,'' Guillen said. ''He put the integrity of this team in a bad spot, especially with Major League Baseball. That's funny, but it's not funny because we can get in trouble.'' SHOW TIME: Starting tonight, Orlando ''El Duque'' Hernandez could have as many as six starts in the final month to prove he is deserving of a potential postseason spot in the rotation. Hernandez, who faces the Kansas City Royals at home, has lost four of his last five decisions. He gave up six runs on six hits in five innings last week against the Texas Rangers. ''He had just one bad inning [against Texas], and he has thrown the ball real good since coming back from the [disabled list July 18],'' Guillen said. ''We just haven't scored any runs for him.'' LONG LOST: Jermaine Dye would have his 28th home run in his back pocket by now if rain didn't halt the Aug. 14 White Sox-Red Sox game before it was official. The Sox were leading 5-2 at the time, but all of that was erased and Monday's game was played from the beginning. Also lost from that game were two hits and an RBI from Carl Everett, a two-run double by Paul Konerko and an RBI double from Chris Widger. Widger's double would have been the 100th of his career. He has not had one since
  22. If anyone thinks that Gload will EVER be a starter with this organization you are mistaken. With his already terrible status, and his recent comments, it is almost assured he will not get that chance with this team.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) If anyone has an update on the situation with Walker, please post it here. yeah, there is exactly 0 percent chance that we are getting Walker. There it has been said, lock the thread. Because it is not happening.
