QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) We are getting Ken Griffey Jr, I'll stake Bruce Levine's reputation on it. Bruce Levine is about as accurate as.....forget it -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) He was also only 32 games over .500 in his career funny that Nolan Ryan was an avg pitcher

this is enough info for me You can't get a good grip with the knuckleball when it's raining and the balls are wet," Barons pitching coach Richard Dotson said. "When it's dry, Charlie has been real consistent. "He's got the talent that he could take that pitch all the way to the major leagues. He's been one of our better pitchers since he's been called up. He's still a young kid and is still learning about himself and how to handle the knuckleball and when to throw the fast ball and slider. He's done a good job for us."

Man, its times like these that I wish we would see a prospect from AA come up and contribute.

FWIW, I wouldnt mind picking up todd walker from the cubs. The guy would be a ncie offensive addition, and gets on base at a pretty nice clip. -
Loaiza=NL Count=AL Loaiza would not put up those numbers in the AL, in fact, we already saw that alot of hitters figured him out and thats why we dumped him. He is an old castoff, period.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) Thank you very much. He has a noodle arm. I'd take Uribe over him in a second. People forget that one reason this team has been so damn good is that we have Juan and Crede on the left side. In the past we had Jose Valentin clogging up space on the left side of the infield with his inadequate glove and well, our defense sucked. Uribe and Crede are our two worst hitters. It's easy to pick on them for lack of offense. Funny how few are willing to give them their proper due for their defense. Im not, this is the best dp combo we have had since Ozzie and Joey were ranging the middle infield. I dont want to move Uribe, he is young, he plays great d, has a cannon, and is showing signs of improvement at the plate. I like him a ton.

This is one of the best places to watch a football game. You are extremely close to the field and the viewing angles are superior to the old field.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) He is pulling this out of his ass. There is absolutely no truth to what he is saying, and he should honestly be fired for it. im not sure we couldnt at least get the deal considered again if we wanted to take his whole contract. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Hence why he needs at least another good season at least in the minors working on it. egg-zactly

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) That's gonna be about a $5 to $7 mill diff right there. Fields even though his 2nd half of the season has been good, is likely to repeat in B-Ham before moving up to Charlotte. I doubt we'll see him until 2007 at the earliest, maybe even 2008. Fields is a butcher in the field still.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) I don't see Uribe going anywhere. He is a brilliant defensive shortstop and for a guy hitting 8th or 9th in the lineup, we can't expect huge offensive numbers. I think it would be foolish to give up on Juan after the year. Plus, his contract is not outlandish and fits into our budget for next season. In fact he is perfect for a bottom of the order hitter, especially with scoring runs with sac fly's. He has also become much more patient at the plate, and I think if he had this approach all season his batting stats would be closer to what we would expect from him. I think he got in a funk early and is learning to hit another way. I think he is not going to leave SS any time soon. Anyone who is wishing him gone obviously hasnt watched much of THIS team THIS year.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) As do I. When we plan dinners with all the family it's always a chore. I want to go to a burger place with a bar, etc.. (i.e. Hooters or the like).. they want to go to Gibson's or Luigi's where the tv is in the bar a half mile from the table. I NEED a TV when the Sox are playing.. otherwise I am staring at my cell phone the entire meal and I get called anti-social. TFB I say. We see everyone way too much as it is anyway... all the time in the world to go out to dinner in the winter. wow, im in the same boat. My cell phone ESPN gametracker is constantly on no matter where I am. Now I have XM radio, and I can take it with me and listen whereever, even in other states, and the scores pop up automatically.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Benedict Arnold makes some of the turncoats on this board seem honorable. Before yesterday Timo was 6 for his last 48 and was rightfully being loathed by the members of this board. One game makes a great player not! Three or four good games does not make a great player either. If that were the case, Greg Norton would be in the Hall of Fame for hitting two Homers off of Randy Johnson. My Position stands: OMIT TIMO Bat Ozuna lead off! Im with ya, I still think he is one of the biggest wastes of money in sox history.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Amen, brother. I'll go out on a limb and say we tag this kid tonight only to be limited to 3 runs for the remaining two ballgames. I think we tag the s*** out of seattle for the whole series and our pitching really steps up and keeps shutting teams down. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Like I mentioned, the rumblings I have heard are that Baj wouldn't be part of the 40 man call ups. Things could change though and the Sox would be stupid to not have him up. its becoming more and more obvious that Baj has stepped on some toes in this org, and will get his only real chance with another team. That is extremely sad.

I think the donations should hold some sort of status with it. You will get more people to donate that way. Maybe make it be some sort of a membership upgrade, etc. I dont know, I just want to give you the best chance for the most money.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) I was thinking that, but I have a feeling that Ozzie/KW like him too much. It would be interesting if a team tried to make him a closer. Personally, I'd like to see Viz get traded, as he'll be making a decent amount of money, and he doesn't seem as the type of guy who will maintain his stuff over time. Viz is going to have a shut down year next year. Look at his career numbers, he is an every other year player.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) I know you're being sarcastic but: Struggling offense+Young phenom pitcher we haven't seen before= :uhoh I didnt read any farther into this thread, so if someone said it already, thats cool. But he have seen this kid, and we roughed him up for around 6 runs I believe. I think that they will TCB. -
Maybe Burke can play 3rd????? wow, I had to edit this one

QUOTE(infohawk @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:03 AM) Scott definitely adds value to the team. The Sox offense averages 5.2 runs in games when Podsednik reaches base at least once. When Scott doesn't reach base, the Sox average 3.1 runs per game. In games where Scott steals at least one base, the Sox average 5.6 runs. In games where he steals multiple bases, the Sox average 5.75 runs. wow, excellent first post, great info. welcome

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Oh yeah, I don't disagree with it. I just think, that KW will cover all of his bases and won't trade Marte for the sake of trading him. Cotts is better against righties anyways. If KW can go out and sign say a Scott Eyre (dunno his status), then Marte becomes a very valuable trade chip to those teams you've mentioned. Marte is also only good vs righties, they are pretty much the same pitcher at this point. With the emergence of Cotts, Jenks, we have major chips to bargain with. No to mention possibly call ups of Baj, Tracey, etc we may be able to fill some of the gaps from within.
