QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) He's played 3 games. Give the guy a freaking chance. thats not what im saying. I think that Anderson will be the 4th OF'er next year, but there is no room for Young and Owens. Dont try to make it into an argument that its not. The debate was whether or not Young would come up and start.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) How does Anderson prove he is ready to be a starter? He was the only bright spot on the whole Charlotte team in the 1st half of the season and has hit the ball well. So what else does he have to prove to be ready. establish himself as a starter caliber player at the ML level. Success in the minors doesnt mean anything, you have to prove you can play with the big boys, and he hasnt done that yet. And frankly, as much as I like him, I think Dye, Rowand, and PODS are all better.

Chicago Blackhawks Offseason Bonanza Thread
RockRaines replied to CWSGuy406's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This opens the door for Anton to make the team.. i love his shot, and I hope he makes it. -
I had to write ESPN at least a small blurb on why I was not happy with their telecast last night. I am extremely upset with your coverage of Illinois last night. The 50 states in 50 days telecast should celebrate the positive aspects of the state, and in our case, Chicago. Instead I see images of Bartman patrolling the airwaves. I look at the votes casted for most popular events and teams on YOUR website and see the White Sox as the favorite team in Illinois. Yet no mention AT ALL of them in your segment. MJ's 6 titles gave way to Bartman and loveable losers. Your segment proves, once again, your bias towards all things Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs. The White Sox have had years of futility which are being re-written by the team we are watching this year. They have had the best record in the MLB for most of the year, whilst the Cubs havent been more than a overhyped 4th place team. It sadly disspoints me as a long time ESPN viewer and a loyal baseball tonight fan. Your sporatic coverage of west coast and "second tier" teams is losing you viewers and watering down your network. ESPN was started as a rebel station designed to provide the viewers with an un-biased sports only telecast. Now the fluff has taken all of the substance out of your station, as well as the credibility. I now sadly turn my sports attention to our local Comcast network to gain actual coverage of my first place White Sox, as well as honest coverage of the rest of the sports world. Im sorry to say that you have lost a long time viewer.

Taylor st, Al's #1 beef, by far the best in the chicago land area if not everywhere. They are highly revered for their beef and sausage. If you havent eaten there, you havent had beef.

QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) Those who were alive and thriving in the 80's.... How does El Felix compare to Dwight Gooden in '85 stuff/command-wise? Roger Clemens? Pedro? Brando, He is along the lines as the early Gooden, but we truly wont know how good he is until he matures a bit and they let him throw all of his pitches. But his curve his very remminicent of Gooden's.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Unless Dye goes to first or someone is traded or injured. Again, I haven't proven anything other than Anderson is ready now, will be starting somewhere in the OF next year with the Sox or someone else, and Young, if he continues to evolve the way he has thus far, could very well force himself into the picture in the spring or very early in the season next year. As I said before, I wouldn't be surprised to see Dye or Rowand not in the OF for the White Sox on opening day next year. Heck, Dye could be the DH. Until Anderson proves he is ready to be a starter, he shouldnt. Dye, Rowand and Pods are all better at their positions. Anderson could be a fill in for a short period of time, no problem. But Young is not ready and needs another full season in the minors before he is ready to start. LIke you said, there is no reason to make him sit the bench when he could be playing everyday at AAA.
-
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Yep, they need to be seasoned so they can rot on the bench in the majors instead of playing everyday... GMAB :banghead In two years they wont be on the bench, they will possibly be starting with Dye, and Pods possibly being gone, Young and Owens will fill it when they are ready. Next year if you bring them up they will be rotting on the bench with much better and experience and costly players in front of them. You proved my argument of not moving them up next year, thanks.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) You obviously dont know much about the minor leagues to compare Anderson and Borchard....... Yeah, Borchard was the "cant miss" prospect.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) I know Randar got on you for this one, but it's so absurd that I have to add my own knock on you for that one. That's just dumb. Try running a baseball franchise like that and you'll be driving it into the ground. How so? What makes you think Anderson will be starting? Dye, Pods, Rowand, done. Young and Ownes havenet had experience above A until this year. They arenot ready to come up and contribute next year, nor is there room. Keeping and seasoning prospects is how you run a franchise, apparently you missed the bus on that one.

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:14 AM) As you can see I don't even know how to arrange that lineup, it's just soo good and soo cheap. Obviously this is all ridiculous and would never fall into place like so... but it's a sweet dream. Wait, Anthrax is posting under a new name? -
QUOTE(Yeast Confection @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Sox will go 24-17 the rest of the way. (Could do better but they will be sitting the regulars.) Can Tribe go 30-7? Fathom and Co. flick forth a resounding "Yes!". Others disagree. the real question is, how quickly can you get banned again

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) My playoff rotation would be Contereras, Freddy, and El Duque. I don't trust MB or JG in big games, even though they are our top two starters. ok jonnie come lately MB-13-6 3.07 FG- 11-5 3.65 JG- 16-7 3.43 JC- 8-7 4.08 OH- 8-6 4.75 Mark is still our best pitcher sorry. You guys are too focused on his last two outings.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) And Anderson? Rowand has had a .750 OPS and has played very good defense, but Anderson is NOT a defensive downgrade... Rowand can get you help and he's just starting to make some coin... Meanwhile, they have 4 young OF'ers within a year of making the majors. What would you do? Not to hijack this thread, but .750 OPS is utterly replaceable. We all know Anderson is due, and I think he take Timo's spot in the offseason, but we cant assume that AA players should be brought up right away. Maybe in 2007 they will be ready to step in and start, but right now, next year is a stretch.
-
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I would not be surprised to see them trade Rowand. with at least one of Young/Anderson opening in CF in 2006. Hold your horses there chief. That is one thing that is NOT going to happen. You just dont trade your yong Cf'er who is just coming into his own to bring up a AA player. Young, owens, sweeney, all have at least 1 more year in the minors ahead of them.
