QUOTE(thedoctor @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) i actually prefer to sit back, relax and strap it down, but if you want to cinch it up and hunker down, you go on with your bad self. thats pretty damn good right there.

Why cant they have the babe ruth rule where Frank can bat, walk to first and touch the bag for a pinch runner.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Griffey would pull a hamstring. I think Rock would take him Regardless. 808 SB's baby

QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) Rock, in regards to your sig, would Griffey wear 30 with the Sox? that is Raines number. I would suggest they have a race for the number.
-
QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) I don't think Griffey would have any problem playing LF. No way in hell do you move Rowand out of center. Griffey plays LF until Pods is healthy, then platoons with Everett at the DH and gives Pods, ARow, and Dye days off every few days...He'll get his ABs and, more importantly, the Sox will start winning all the way to October. I wouldnt put KGJ in LF because it is harder on your legs to play corner OF positions, not to mention CF is his only real position. He would be more than ok until PODS gets back and then put him in the DH role and leave Carl for spot duty and PH.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Remember the ovation Freddie got when he first came out to pitch his first game last year? Multiply that by a factor of 8. You want to welcome a guy into the clubhouse? Let us do it. Very well said. PLus a few opposite field hr's never did any wrong.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) No. Not really. He has 2 less HRs than Everett. He also has +30 points on his OPS and +30 on his BA. This does not solve all of our problems. Neither does a 35 year old pitcher with a partially torn rotator cuff and a team that would want a s*** load of talent for the two. Ibanez and Guardado would be great pickups they however would not cure all problems for this club and would cost more than should be given up for them. f*** it, send me the bill.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) What does Hawk say... "He's trying to be too fine out there" its harder to pitch when you are losing from the first inning on.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) The Columbine goons were into THE MATRIX and they were wearing long trench coats, I think it is easy to make a connection there. If this idiot had been placing a crown of thorns on his head, or had been singing hymns outloud and professed a connection to Jesus through this, I am sure it would be getting mention. Dahmer was obsessed with The Exorcist, so obviously there is going to be a connection with it. When a "normal" book becomes the unhealthy obsession, it also becomes the center of attention, as Catcher In The Rye did with the Lennon killing. BTK never gave any inclination to anything other than being beyond f***ed up. Is it too hard to believe that the people were already messed in the head, and then in turn, liked those things because of their mental state. I refuse to believe that the programs or music had any effect on them prior to their dementia. The BTK killed was very disturbed, and he may have been drawn to the church's spiritualness and almost obsessive focus on beliefs and rules. But I dont think the church made him how he was. I think he was just drawn to certain aspects of religion. Same way with Dahmer, and the trenchcoat mafia.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Yes...that was already discussed. Does the fact that I was in attendance for both of Hermy's Blown Saves change the total at all? Can they be negated by my suck factor? It has been said you are one of the suckiest sucks that ever sucked, but im not sure that effects the saves category.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) Statistically, he is better than Hermanson in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY. more appearances, innings, saves, wins, strikeouts, less walks, lower ERA, much lower WHIP and lower BAA. But they are similar? If by similar you mean slightly worse I agree with you. Not the blown saves category.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:33 AM) Actually Hermanson shouldn't be a Cy Young Candidate with 26 Ks and a 1.76 ERA. Santana was the best player in baseball last year, best in the AL by far. If you come on and have an absolutely f***tacular year for the first time in your career and dominate (such as Loaiza 2 years ago) then you should be considered for a Cy Young, Halladay won his for the first time after having an amazing year and Santana last year was by far the best pitcher in the AL. That wasn't much of an arguement IMO. And I was talking about no love from the media, not from me or anything. Agreed, just wanted to bust your east coast biased balls. BTW, check out my sig

heres Kong at 3B I believe

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) But Hermanson has never been this good before so he gets absolutely no love. Oh yeah, Hermy has 2 less BS than Rivera. I didnt know a Cy Young was awarded on past performance, because then Santana wouldnt have won s***.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) I should've put a disclaimer on it. If the Yanks make the playoffs Rivera will be the Cy Young. My reasoning is simple. To me the Cy Young has always been about dominance. No starting pitcher this season in the AL has displayed dominance for long periods of time. Garland has the best chance to win it because if he can get to that magic number of 20 wins he will get alot of votes. But right now, the most dominant pitcher in the AL this year has been Rivera. How has he been the most dominant. His numbers are similar to Hermys for god sake

QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Yeah. Actually they said it yesterday after the game on AM1000. They also had Mark Buehrle quotes after the game where he said the guys are just not having fun. its hard to have fun while in a slide. They need to play like they did at the beginning, hoping on people early, pushing the game constantly and having a good time.

Greg Couch Article on current slide

everyone skids, we just need to make sure we get hot at the right time. BUt we also need to be the aggressive team that we were the first 2 months when we were killing people. We need to push the game at all times, bunting, hitting and running, making contact. Come on, stop it with the flyball s*** people. -
It would be a nice addition, but....we need a bat alot more than we need another closer. It would be nice to have 6 closers in the pen and all, but the fact is, our lineup sucks right now.
-
WE ARENT PLAYING THE WAY WE PLAYED WHEN WE BUILT THIS LEAD. WE ARE NOT ADVANCING RUNNERS, WE ARE NOT PLAYING DEFENSE, WE ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE. WE HAVE LOST EVERY BIT OF THE STYLE THAT HAS MADE US GOOD. NOW THE TWINS HAVE IT ON DISPLAY, REMEMBER?
-
Both the pitching and the hitting has sucked lately. We arent taking it to other teams, and we arent playing aggressive ball like we began the year playing. Now the twins are doing it, and THEY are doing it better. This should be the glimpse of how we USED to play, and how our record got so good. Ozzie should try and remember how to play ball.

We need to admit that we may be seeing the beginning of one of the largest collapses in sports history. How pathetic.
