  1. First inning runs people. Its how we win games. PLease please please dont let Timo lead off again.
  2. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Ya, Reggie Abercrombie, he's a mid-tier OF prospect for Florida at least he has a career in retail to fall back on.
  3. it looks like its nothing at this point. If we learned anything this season, its to stop listening to the rumors. Otherwise we would have Chavez, HUff, AJB, Schmidt, Wagner, Baez, Guardado, Overbay etc.
  4. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) Do you seriously think anyone would claim Timo Perez?? If they do, what a bonus!! I'm ready for some young blood in the lineup. This team needs a spark. It is dragging seriously. They may..Im sure Ozzie thinks so, because he is such a prize for our team that we are starting him and leading him off.
  5. QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) Or someone could drop him off at Wrigleyville. Then Timo wishes he was in the middle of the ocean! Are you kidding, nobody would recognize him there, they dont even know their own players. f***, I dont think I would recognize Timo on the street. He is a nothing.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) Whoever made that Chaveztalk.com banner needs to make a Griffeytalk.com one this one?
  7. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Well we should start by playing Anderson instead of Timo Perez. I don't think Perez should do anything but occasionally pinch hit or pinch run. But I also don't see automatically why Young or Owens couldn't contribute. We need an infusion of young blood to keep us from tumbling, frankly. Look at Oakland or Atlanta. How many rookies have they called on? We have Tadahito Iguchi, and now Bobby Jenks, who has helped us a lot out of AA. I would like that, but honestly there is not a ton of room up here. Unless we DL Crede for his back, I dont see any moves soon. I would REALLY like Anderson to play well so when PODS comes back we can get rid of Timo. I would love to see Owens try the lead off role and young play some as well, but for now, I am happy with watching Anderson. Side Note: Saw BA in person for the first time last night, the guy is a BEAST.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) It seems that everyone but you thinks differently.... ins someone in denial or just in love with Konerko? Everyone? or just two people. In fact, if you check my posts, I am all for letting him go, as I dont like him at all. But to accuse someone of being lazy when they were playing smart baseball is ridiculous. He could of walked to 1st for all I care, the key was him waiting for the throw to gauge whether or not he could go to second. He waited in the right spot, advanced to second, and was safe. There is nothing else you can ask for in a baseball player. It was a smart play, I was sitting right there, and I think he should be congradulated by Ozzie for his smart and aggressive play.
  9. Under your scheme we should test out each of our young guys to see who can contribute? I am for that, but only after we try and stretch our lead instead of watching is tumble.
  10. Well, it was rumored that Honel may be included in the deal as well. He is looking like the pitcher of old, but still I do not know if he is worth it. What they should do is pick up our good position players and flip them for some arms. Its all about value.
  11. Griffey is an old star on a rebuilding team. If they wanted to not only move the team forward, but give themselves a little flexibility in the offseason to go for a pitcher, this would be the way. They need to keep adding young talent and filling in with Good FA's ( Not Milton).
  12. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I was there too and Paulie was not busting his ass. I absolutely love this team and how they built this record but they are not doing those little things right now. Paulie and the rest of the Sox do not have enough talent to win on talent alone. where were you, cause maybe you were not paying attention to the runner, and more to where the ball was, and what Carl was doing. Because it was a smart baserunning move by Paulie advancing to 2nd, and his approach to first had nothing to do with him making 2nd, he had to wait for thr throw either way, and he waited in the correct position. Build a bridge, get over it.
  13. QUOTE(RDriesen @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) he is an idiot, but as i said on the main board, that isnt the reason he wont trade him. hes selling the team and he wants to A. have the team have as much star power as possible to make more money on the deal and B. allow the new people to decide what to do with the players welcome to Soxtalk fellow Reds fan here.
  14. Man, I even brought out the monkey humping a robot, and still this thread goes on....
  15. QUOTE(RDriesen @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Reds fan here, unfortunately , just wanted to clear up some things ive read on here, from the reds point of view, of what i have heard. first - the reds have not denied the trade. they have used the famous dan o'boring non denial. instead of saying, there is no trade, we are not talking to the white sox, etc, they just say, we havent talked to griffey about it, etc. second - the owner is a f'n idiot like you guys say, but thats not why this trade hasnt been accepted. rumor is he is selling the reds or at least part of it (man how i hope he sells the entire team and gets the heck out here) and this is why no major player was allowed to be traded. he didnt want to trade any major player on the team, and let the new people do what they wanted. the only 2 players that were allowed to be moved were aurillia and randa. now, supposedly that stance has changed. he has supposedly told our dumb fo that if they think that trading jr is the best for this team and if jr and his agent call him personally and tell him he wants out, then he will okay the trade Welcome to Soxtalk!!! I love the Big Red Machine
  16. Oh, and I know whats coming next: Only at Soxtalk, or This is why I come to Soxtalk, or, I expect this from Soxtalk.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) A disloyalty? Are you freakin' kidding me? I come to Soxtalk for the peanut gallery, and today I definitly got my moneys worth. You two are f***ing pathetic. And for the record, you are disloyal in my book. Being that you are a "die hard" Red sox fan. Picking a team to cheer for that directly competes with yours is pretty stupid IMO. Moving towns does not force you to conform to the city's fanbase. With today's TV rights, and national broadcasting, we have the freedom to watch our team even from another area. Being that you are still very young, maybe it was a youth thing. Its a good things you are a White Sox fan I guess, but for me, one of the best characteristics of the WS fanbase is our devout loyalty to our team, not the conveinence of it.
  18. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Why dont you just let the guy just do what he wants? You f***ing tools. Troll huh? He can do whatever he wants, it makes for great comedy and great sig material.
  19. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) Ozzie has to go with Anderson, who might provide a spark. Timo is 2 for 26 in his last 9 games. It is actually unbelievable, when the Sox are loaded with minor league outfield talent, that Timo Perez is still holding down a spot. I blame KW for this, as he could make the decision to cut Timo or send him to AAA. Ozzie, if given the option, plays him, and that is a mistake. I would take Brian Anderson, Joe Borchard, Jerry Owens, and even raw Chris Young over Timo Perez right now. The Sox can't screw around. We are very vulnerable right now, and the Twins I'm sure can smell it. Here is the problem, Timo is out of options I believe, and would have to clear waivers first. Secondly, there is no excuse to keep playing him in the lead off role. Ever A-row would be better in that spot. Fact is, the guy is a pinch hitter at best. And not even a good one at that. Owens, young, Anderson, are all better options than Timo at this point. At least give Anderson a shot at playing, he is fast, plays good defense, and may prove a better hitter.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) I think the hesitation between 1st and 2nd was becaue he wasn't sure where the cut-off throw was going. Once he saw that the guy threw to 3rd he tried to sneak into 2nd. But again, the whole problem with the play was that he was lollygagging to first base. Ozzie is being a hypocrite for letting that slide. Letting what slide? A smart piece of baserunning and a horrible call by the ump?
  21. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Ramirez is just awesome on defense though. I know he is an awesome SS, but his hitting is below average. If he didnt play for the Red Sox, then we wouldnt know his name.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) Paulie wasn't running to first. Hawk even said it. He just slowly started jogging to first, watching where the ball landed. What he did between first and second isn't my issue. I dont care what Hawk said, I was there, I was 15 feet away, it was good, smart baserunning, and he was safe. It was a bad call. Period, end of story.
  23. Wow, everyone needs to take some Midol. Baseball 101. He did not coast, it was not a sure double He only advanced to second because of the throw to third. He actually pulled up and slowed down until he saw the direction of the throw. Secondly, he was safe. Its clear you are b****ing about something just to b****, but make sure you actually watch the play first.
  24. Timo=lead off hitter: The KC Royal Organization You cannot put a already horrible bench player at the lead off spot. His BA and OBP are worse than most reserves in the AL. He does not belong EVER starting a game with that pathetic stroke of his. If we want to win a WS title, it will not be with a lineup made up of overpaid pathetic minor league throw-ins.
