Official game thread for August 10th

man I hope Pods gets out of this funk soon -
QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Doesn't get any hits either. aint that the damn truth. At least Dransfeldt would have gotten some hits by now.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) If it happened at our park, he would be dead. There is no net over that area, just the support wires for the screen behind homeplate. He would have landed on me in my scout seats last weekend. I meant in theory, when they had the net over the area.

I already have tickets to the game but plan on hitting up the patio party for some serious arguments, and beers. I owe/am owed several that I know of.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) I was about to say exactly the same thing. And at least on occasion, people might not want to pitch to Borchard. Anyone out there who thinks Timo can scare any other pitcher (except maybe Radke)? If we have 2 guys who are hitting .200, but for 1 guy, 1 out of those 2 hits per 10 at bats leaves the yard, that's not good, but it's better than .200 all on singles. Borchard might be taken up at some point this season. Not only to showcase him a bit, but I think KW was taking a look at his progress last week. I know it sucks to think about since he pretty much blows. But maybe, just maybe, he can come up and get hot, hit some bombs, and gives us some support until the rosters expand. I dunno.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) Well, he is in New York. Couldn't expect anything less. :headshake If that happened at our park, the articles about the stadium not being safe would be all over ESPN and the Trib. The ligues would be shown again, as well as disco demo.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Still it seems kinda wierd that she didn't say ANYTHING into the radio to her husband for help. I don't wanna blame the guy, but wouldn't you: a. be on a cell phone with her the entire time? Even just to kill the boredom of the drive. b. Have her driving in front of you, you can give her directions via radio. c. And would you even for 1 second let her car out of your rear view mirror? As far as C goes, even with a non-pregnant significant other, you always worry with a woman behind the wheel and would keep her in your sight. In HER case, it seems weird he didnt.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) To be honest, I think that's a rumor that goes around every campus. Allegedly, my school was ranked two in a similiar playboy thing. I think it's the college equivilant of an urban legend. . . it was though. They had a party for it and everything. I have a t-shirt from it.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) Who said they lost transmission? And who said he pulled ahead of her? The article: She was following him, she didnt respond so he waited. If he waited, he obviously was ahead of her, and couldnt see her in his rearview, hence he pulled ahead. I have been on many road trips with Radios and this is a common occurence.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) "talking about a 97 mph fastball and a curveball from hell." - Ron Gardenhire talking about Felix Hernandez. As much as I try, I cant seem to read anything you say with that sig on there. Im sorry, I forgot what I was going to write.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Some of us have forgotten it already. I completely ignored it. Did he say something?
-
I always feel comfortable when i dont watch the games, im a jinx
-
Blum kinda blends in. He isnt real distinctive looking and sorta just fills space.
-
firefox no question, then netscape, IE is last on my list and always gets infected, always gets pop-ups, always gets spyware.
-
Its extremely fishy, why did they lose transmission, why did he pull so far ahead of his pregnant wife?

QUOTE(TimB @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Thanks Southsider, That's interesting. I could have completely misinterpreted Stark (I'm not in the best shape at 7 AM...) although I do know he was convinced Griffey wouldn't move. welcome to soxtalk biatch
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) If the deal that was rumored is the basis of the new deal, then none of the minor leaguers the Sox would be sending to Cincy were on the 40 man roster, thus they wouldn't be subject to the waiver rules. The only player that would have to survive waivers would be Griffey Jr. This is correct, and I was wondering why Stark did not mention this on the radio as well.

ugh, dont let Ozuna beat us -
They were saying that his fastball looked like it had more movement on it then when he was with the yankees. I think he is coming around a bit, but will always have those lapses where he falls in love with the forkball and walks in a ton of hitters.

Jenks to get into the mix at the end
RockRaines replied to southsideirish71's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Heres the thing about Bobby. Just when you thought you had seen his stuff, he drops a 88 MPH change in the strike zone and the batter looks confused. Then somehow he dropped a "slider" down in the down for a swinging K. The guy is downright befuddling hitters. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) I'd use Jenks in any other closing situation, but not at Yankee Stadium with the game on the line. Maybe they just wanted to rest those 2 for tonight as well, and give the other relievers some work. could be a possibility. I just would rather have a 99 mph heater float over the plate than a 92 MPH aimed fastball drift over the plate.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) Ok so let's see here. A 2 year old manages us last night. Does he or she do a better job than Ozzie? Cotts hasn't. You don't put Jenks into a situation like that at Yankee Stadium, it'll crush him mentally if he fails. Cotts and Jenks both pitched well the night before. In fact, Jenks was lights out. What does it do to him if he is successful?

Oh s***, I hope this assclown doesnt jinx us, I liked it better when he thought we werent going to win 80 games
