From a cubs message board I'm 100% satisfied with this trade. Sure we didn't get to see what Gerut was capable of, but Lawton is a bonified leadoff man, one of many things this club desperately needed. I'm still kind of pissed that Hendry didn't get any bullpen help and is relying on Wood and Williamson to come in and give the pen a boost (didn't he learn his lesson in the offseason by relying on what he already had?), but this deal is defenately going to have more of an impact then Soriano would have had in this lineup.

Anyone look at MB's pic on Gameday?? Its creepy.

They did seem to be having a pretty good time on saturday. They showed the show of us dancing in our Dugout, then the O's just sitting there silent in theirs. Pretty big difference maker IMO

According to baseball tonight, us and the A's did nothing to get "as good" as the Yankees and Red Sox.

Kline is still going to be available if we need another Lefty, he has playoff experience. Also I still think there are going ot be bats going through the waivers once teams start to drop out in the next few weeks.

Its a good pickup. You get rid of Willie, who doesnt really fit in on the field or in the clubhouse, and pick up a more experienced utility man, who can spell crede and Kong. Not to mention the Blum has been called a gamer, and a great guy in the clubhouse by Widger. I think fitting in on this team is a major plus, and I am glad we didnt get fleeced by the sellers. This year in particular, the sellers on the market were some of the worst GM's in baseball to deal with. TB cannot make deals with other teams, they feel they have to come out on top every time. Pit only deals with the Cubs, and I think FLA did a GREAT job picking up Villone to solidify their bullpen. All in all, the fact that no one else improved, gives us the upper hand.

Blum for Meaux was a good deal IMO. We didnt give up much, and need the depth.

Upset, we could have had Villone for next to nothing.

Nice sampling. I guess its the effect of being the dominant team out there, everyone expects you to make 50 deals. But in all seriousness, this is beginning to hurt the team morale, and I just want the next few days to be over with.
