Dye is a beast lately, I dont know why everyone is thinking of just throwing an aquired bat in his place in RF.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) I'm confused why this guy is being met with such hostility, he hasn't insulted the White Sox at all and people talking s***, kind of odd. First of all you sensitive people that was not hostility. It was sarcasm, I like the f***ing brewers. Im not sure why everyone is so damn sensitive all of a sudden.

QUOTE(cragi @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I didn't say they got fleeced, I said from a brewer fan's perspective, they got fleeced. The Brewers were desperate to dump Pods in the offseason and were also desperate to acquire power. For that to happen, and to get an allstar out of the deal, was better than anything brewer fans could have hoped for. Obviously the trade worked out perfectly for both teams. You can tell the brewers fan thanks for OUR all-star and possible MVP. Oh yeah, and 31 games over....

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) He has a team option for next season at about $1.3 million. For such a good reliever at this price, I can't justify including him in a Burnett deal (especially if A.J's a rental). Polite is probabky our best arm out of the bullpen. I dont think its worth trading your best bullpen pitcher.

Konerko, your plane is boarding. Overbay can take over for overpaid Kong in the offseason.

SO, based on their needs, we would have to give them Josh Fields and either an arm, or Anderson.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) And if you had made it, all of your stalkers would have been attacking you, and then PMing me to save them once you snapped. Damn dude, you are right on pace to break 50,000 soon. -
It looked like he pulled something, then Coop started to call Widger, and AJ said, im going back in.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) OK then we should have never resigned him after he elected free agency after the DSC was exercized. Samething. By these peoples logic, Frank Thomas should have been gone 5 years ago. Didnt know Thome came up with our org?? Thats the only reason we keep bringing Frank back

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) has a nice look to it! Right under the Headline: Griffey to DL

A-row will not be traded as he is one of the top defensive CF'ers in the game, and one of the major reasons why we are where we are this year as compared to last is our defense in the OF. Everyone has short memories and dont seem to recall when Carla was roaming CF will Lee in LF and maggs in right. Even Timo played CF. We are NOT going to sacrafice defense for a bat, especially in the most important OF position. Ozzie would not let this happen.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) haha im calm, im not like upset about it, i just think its a weak nickname. btw ass licker would be fine too Its used in the ball park, everytime he is at bat. Why do you think they keep playing that stupid jamaican thing, so you can say A-ROW!!!!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) How is trading a minor leaguer a "success"? The kid is costing us nothing at AAA, and isn't taking anyones playing time at all. Because hes got about as much worth as my old garbage pail kids cards.

Big, old, Surgery. You do the math. Im out

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) You regulars are seriously more anal about thread space, organization and posting style than possibly any other bulletin board in the history of the universe. I understand many of you have a certain way of doing things. When I have a thought, sometimes I put up a new thread before sifting through every single post in every thread on the first page. To me, a thread is no big deal. It's just a thread. If people don't like it, I expect em to ignore it. To some of you, it seems a new thread must be of a certain standard to be worthy of being in this forum. To my way of thinking, that's just not what boarding is about. On any topic. -
If KW can unload Borchard on someone before the trading deadline, I would already call it a success.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) If El Duque goes down, god forbid, Jon Adkins can step in and provide better insurance than BMac did. You were lookin good until you stretched it at the end there. BMAC is better than Adkins as a starter.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) i have a problem when people say stuff like "is known to be lazy." i have heard that, but i've also heard people say he works his ass off. the lazy stuff came from people theorizing that a poor-offseason work ethic was the reason for his hamstring problems. that was a theory, though, not a fact. i totally disagree with the clubhouse thing. i know people who work in the clubhouse and they have all said he's one of the best teammates to have. he doesn't get along that well with the media, so perhaps that's where that perception came from. Griffey is not the leader or the work horse that A-row is. A-row has based his career on his work ethic and tireless offseason work. Griffey has made his career on early talent, and now, injuries. A-row is better defensively, is a vocal leader in the field and in the clubhouse, has a better contract, and is one of the faces of this organization. NO

They have to dump Huff sooner or later, he doesnt fit on a team that is bringing up its young studs.

ESPN Insider Fish hooked? Jul 26 - According to South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a Marlins scout was in Syracuse, N.Y., over the weekend, where top White Sox pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy tossed six strong innings for Triple-A Charlotte. McCarthy, 22, has been mentioned frequently as a key cog in a White Sox offer for A.J. Burnett. He is just 3-7 with a 5.17 ERA this year in the minors, but reports on the 6- foot-7 strikeout artist remain strong. The top hitters on the Charlotte roster include outfielders Brian Anderson, the White Sox's top prospect, and Joe Borchard, a former No. 1 overall draft pick.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) no, i wouldnt, because bmac + contreras = no backup if el duque goes down. schmidt adds alot, and i dont want to hear the crap about "schmidt only has a 4.7 ERA in a pitchers park in the NL so contreras must be better since his ERA is 4.3" schmidt is an obvious upgrade. as far as vizquel, upgrades are obvious on O, slightly worse on D than uribe, but not enough to make a significant difference. I wouldnt give up both pitcher to the Giants for Schmidt. They need youth all around, and I think its going to take BMAC and Young +one more to get the deal done. Omar would be a great fit hitting, basestealing and defensively.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) i would have to at least consider that. i love rowand, but salary aside he is not as good as griffey. I think he is better defensively, I dont care what Griffey was, A-row picks up his teammates and has been gold glove caliber this year. And he is the man in the clubhouse and is a work-a-holic, which is the opposite of Griffey who is known to be lazy. No thanks

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) I figured out the key to complaining around here is finding guys who are having break out years and comparing their contracts to guys who have done it for years before signing a contract. Example: I can't believe we are paying Buerhle $6 million. I'd rather have a couple guys like Garland at $3.4 and use the rest of the money to fill holes. Buerhle just isn't worth $6 million when you can have a guy like Garland, with more wins, for $3.4 million.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) I was flipping channels last night at work and went past Comcast. Saw Schmidt pitching for the Giants... I stopped and watched Schmidt go into his windup, throw the pitch... WHAM! Michael Barrett hits it onto Waveland. I changed the channel. So you saw the ONE run he gave up, would you like a cookie?
