  1. No way I would give up A-row to get Griffey. No way in hell.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:25 AM) Pretty sure it's been mentioned Huff has declining bat speed, hence the lack of home runs (even though he has 6 this month). Like Mike said, Chuck LaMar is an idiot when it comes to trades, so don't expect anything to happen. Hitting Huff often is described as a professional hitter, as much for what he does and how easy he makes it look, with good mechanics that produce a natural sweet swing. He has done an excellent job learning to hit lefties and to stop chasing pitches off the plate. Huff knows he can hit just about any fastball and occasionally will sit and wait for one. The Rays want him to look more frequently for breaking balls and changeups and hit them too. April .271 .350 May .206 .291 June .283 .320 July .295 .329
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) and pablo isnt?? anyone in here ever take a look at pablos track record. 45 ERRORS IN THe MINOR LEAGUES ONE YEAR! 45!!! EDIT: IN 133 GAMES! they both arent great, but Huff is worse.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:49 AM) Pablo isn't exactly a sage 3B himself. Yeah, and he is better than Huff at the position, which says alot
  5. Schmidt looked great last night. Got in a few jams and pitched his way out with his changeup dropping for strikes. I have always liked him, and I think he would really help in a stretch run. I still think AJB will have the bigger upside, but Vizquel may be a large missing piece for this team. Uribe can then spell crede as well, and we got deeper in a heartbeat.
  6. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) personally, im suer the sox interest has increased since thomas is gonna be out. i like huff alot. before his subpar 1st half, i thought this guy would eventually have a year or two of MVP type numbers. he still may. i think he is absolutely the perfect fit for the chisox, because he can spell crede at 3rd, he can spell konerko at 1st, he can also play the corner OF. not to mention he is left handed, and his acquisition would mean that the sox could afford to not have to pay konerko this offseason and can let him walk. this guy is a pure hitter too, can catch up to any fastball and has a sweet stroke from the left side, something we need He cant spell Crede, Pablo would be a better option, he is brutal at 3B
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Doubt that. thanks for your input, but these are innings that Damaso could have used to get back in the strike zone. He usually warms up at least in this situation. But we bring on our long reliever???? hmmmmmm
  8. I said it before the game. If we dont see Marte in the later innings, even warming up, the deal is going through.
  9. BMAC for Young would work for sure. He fits our mold exactly
  10. I think the fact that none of us knew we were bidding on Tony G and Randa shows that we dont know s*** when it comes to KW's dealings.
  11. Anyone forget how sweet Dye is? PS Jenks will get some work tonight, here comes some gas. And if Marte doesnt get in at all..........
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) If the Giants were to make that trade then Deivi Cruz would fill out the year for them at SS & they would want a guy who could challenge in ST for the starting role. I think they would be looking at 23 yr old, Angel Gonzalez. The guy is top 30 in avg & rbi in the Southern League. I'm not sure where he ranks fielding wise but his numbers hitting wise are too good to overlook. The trade from their perspective enables them to say they are still going for the NLW title this year & building for next year. From our perspective we strengthen our bench with Uribe (goodbye Ozuna), we help fill our weakness vs RHers with Vizquel, & of course we have the best .500 pitcher $ can buy in Burnett I'm sure KW will get Villone to replace Marte if the Burnett trade gets done. I'm not worried about Hermanson tiring out before the playoffs because once the White Sox clinch the division (MN down to 54) I think Ozzie will try to groom Jenks into the role & use Hermanson sparingly. If KW gets all that done then I would say we're the favorites to win the WS. I dont think I could've agreed with you more.
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Contreras+BMac+Marte FOR Burnett+Vizquel. Add Villone to the pen & I think KW's done the best job he could. I like the way you think. What prospect would we send them then, Lopez??? I would be for that situational trade because it makes the bullpen just as strong if not stronger, makes the rotation better and adds a much needed consistant bat.
  14. According to Buster, these pitchers are on the trading block: Jason Johnson Millwood Wickman Glavine None would be dealt to us, and I wouldnt want really any of them. just an FYI in addition to AJB
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) I just get a kick out of when he hits 99, then 99 and then once again 99, then breaks off a sick curve. After we picked up this guy from the Angels last year I was curious if he would ever regain that velocity. Boy has he ever. I remember seeing him on ESPN when he was drafted thinking, man I want a power pitcher like that. Then seeing we got him, then seeing his throw, then seeing the curve fall off the table. YES!!!!
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) I love Aaron in the 2-hole. That's where he'd excel IMO. I was talking in the chat the other day and here was my ideal lineup. Pods A-Row Everett Dye AJ Konerko Iguchi Crede Uribe Actually, I like Gooch in the 3-hole but thats just me. I agree with A-row in the 2-hole, he excels there, unfortunately, so does Uribe......
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Welcome aboard. Jenks Rocks He was awesome in Sandlot!!!!!! I forsee him getting some action tonight, cant wait to see him break off a Curve on someone.
  18. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) The Phillies will be lucky if Thome is able to play again this year, he has nagging injuries like the Big Hurt does. The Phils wouldn't trade for PK because they have Ryan Howard. I live in the Philly market and everyone is raving about him, so they have no need for PK, and Thome wouldn't fit on this team. If we really want to spin for Wags, even though I dont think its possibly, the Phils need a SP, extremely badly. JC or AJB would do it. BUt I would rather give them JC for obvious reasons.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) The Sox have the 4th best Avg. against lefties in MLB. We're currently hitting .291 vs. left handed pitching. I would say that is our strong suit on offense, definatly not where we're lacking. Oh come on, I spend all that time on that post and you attack a sidenote????? I guess my mind was locked on paulie and his .182 against LHP.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Join the club im in dude.
  21. tonight, it will be announced. Watch for Damaso to not see the mound tonight.
  22. All Signs point to yes!!!
  23. QUOTE(Bonkeymutt @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I see absolutely no advantage in acquiring Burnett. Why give up a hot prospect (McCarthy) and a decent lefty (Marte) for an over-rated arm we don't really need. Marte hasn't been as good this year, but I really don't think we need a trade right now. Have you guys forgotten that we're 31 games over .500 right now? Why in the world would we want to change anything? Hot prospect who has been nothing short of Garbage at the major league level. He is not ready to contribute yet, and we still dont know if he ever will. He hasnt proven anything and contributes nothing to the team at this point. Marte is the worst arm out of the pen at this moment, and can be replaced by the starter who will be displaced with AJB. AJB has more quality starts that JC and EL DUQUE and is showing improvement in his first full season back. He has the power arm that is coveted in the post season and can dominate. Lowell will spell relief for Crede as well as be an effective hitter against LH pitching, which we have lacked.
  24. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) LOL, no. He can't even figure out how to pitch with 100% of his stuff. He is a thrower, not a pitcher. The guy is flat out living on his rep after one unbelieveable game. He is worthless, and will continue to be so.
