so....AJ Burnette????
-
SO anyway, why dont we get back to the topic, since arguing opinion isnt really relevant right now.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Thats what BA says, but it ain't accurate. BA hypes the hell out of velocity. He rarely dials it up. Maybe he will add some velocity with age, but I don't see where he will get it. He's not what I'd call a projectable player in terms of velocity (ie tall and lanky where you add velocity when your body fills in). A actually, I've never read BA, so I guess thats not what made my opinion. As far as overrating velocity, seems they were spot on with Jenks................

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Gio doesn't throw that hard. He's not consistently in the mid 90's. He's a low 90's pitcher (this is not a knock). I'm just saying that he doesn't dial it up. Low 90's and mids on occasion. And with age and growth I expect it to climb

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Of course I don't rate him anywhere close to Bmac. I think Bmac is bar none the best pitcher in the system. According to what? Cause the stats arent there. Is it just postive thinking? HIs performance last year? His performance in ST? What is your rating system.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) Pre-surgery Rauch looked like he was going to be amazing. Problem is he never regained his stuff after hurting his labrum. Pedro is nothing like Gio. Pedro is a power pitcher, Gio isn't. Gio does dial it up though, BUt his curve his much better than Pedro's breaking balls.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) No, your telling me that Gio is better than Bmac right now. Thats completely wrong. Gio has been pitching very well, but he has a heck of a lot more weaknesses than Brandon (part of it is deservingly so, less experience, etc). However Brandon is a very very poised young pitcher who flat out has dominated every level he's been in. And he has a plus changeup too, people are starting to say its better than his curve. The Sox just haven't used it much this year for some reason. Nobody said Gio is better than BMACM right now. But BMAC isnt better than what we have right now. Hes not even the best guy on his team at the moment. Since we dont have any room for him, its a better investment to trade him because his value is higher than our other guys. Gio is a much more heralded prospect, was chosen higher, has better "stuff" than BMAC and has a better upside being left handed and with his pitches. BMAC was a good pitcher in the lower minors, and was decent in ST, but has been exposed in the majors and is not going to be ready yet. With the time we will wait through out existing rotation, BMAC wont get the chance he deseves. By the time we need to bring a guy up, Gio, or Ray may be ready. I understand everyone's attachment to BMAC, but look at the facts and whats better for the organization as a whole.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Burnett looked good against a pathetic Giants lineup. Marte looked pretty bad again today. Nonetheless, my mind hasn't changed. If the Burnett deal is intended to flip him for Wagner, okay. That fixes the bullpen. And Contreras looked pretty good against a Boston team that is supposed to own him, while El Duque looked even better against them yesterday. I'm fine now with El ContraDuque as our 4th starter in the postseason, especially if the pen replaces Marte with Wagner. I would not be happy giving up Brandon McCarthy, however. Oakland is riding young pitchers like that right into the Wild Card. BMAC is not quite what Oakland has, and has had. I dont think he compares much to mulder, harden, hudson or Zito. In fact, I think he would benefit from moving to a bigger park because all he does is give up bombs. His stuff isnt Major League ready, and wont be for awhile. We have enough arms to make up for his loss. Trade his ass right now, give me another top line player, and lets win the f***in thing.

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 12:03 PM) Im all for Griff, move Rowand to right, and play Dye, Paulie, Carl in 2 of 3 positions at either 1st or DH. You can be all for him all you want, he is not coming to the sox. As soon as Dye is back, there are no spots for KGJ in our lineup.

Goodbye Marte, hope you like FLA

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#

now KW can announce the trade..... -
Bruce Levine isnt accurate, and I dont believe that AJ will be part of our rotation and im not sure Damaso is worth it if we dont get Wagner.
-
Glendon Rusch is better than 2 of our starters.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) San Diego will not want Konerko. They won't be able to trade Nevin. hahahahaha you just got owned by reality
-
What a horrible thread and a terrible idea. He is the best we have had in awhile and has had a great success rate. You have got to be kidding me.
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) be honest, how much do you know about bmacs mechanics? have you watched him throw. I cringe everytime I see his elbow bend like that.
-
Seriously AJ needs to stop pulling everything. His power alley is in left center.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) If that's the case, Buster deserves to lose his job. Brandon McCarthy for AJ, the most coveted pitcher on the market, Burnett straight up? It's laughable. Also, for those of you only projecting McCarthy to be a #3 starter at best, ask Mr. Garland the difference a year makes. Garland was much more conveted than BMAC. And its my opinion, but im not too impressed with BMAC's mechanics and the movement on his fastball.
-
I just want some pitching. Right now the rotation of MB, Garland, Freddy and El Duque looks good in the playoffs, but is a question mark down the stretch. Not to mention our bullpen is going to get worn out if we keep using the same guys every day over and over. I really think we need to address any and all pitching needs before we go for a bat.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) Agreed, I like B-Mac and think he will be a solid pitcher, but he is no more than a future #3. You can find FA to do what I think B-Mac will eventual do. I agree, I see him as a solid#3 possibly some day, Kip Wells-ish maybe. But he doesnt have the stuff or the mechanics to be extremely consistant. I would trade him in an instant because I think we can FA a new pitcher if need be next season, and then wait for the rest of the arms to age. I fully expect a knuckleballer in the rotation in the next 3 years.
-
Buster seemed to think that it would be BMAC for AJ straight up. If thats the case, see-ya BMAC in my eyes. I think he would prosper in the national league anyway. I think if we can do that, we still have more bargaining chips on the table to get Wagner etc. If it takes dealing JC to someone, we would do it and be MUCH improved. I honestly do not see BMAC as our #1 pitching prospect.
-
Well, heres the thing. I dont see us hanging onto all of those players. If KW makes this move, he may be turning around Lilly and Hillenbrand to FLA or SF, or even LA.

Shenanigans

I hate Bruuuuuuuuuuce
-
Im not sure Lilly is an improvement over any of our starters right now. He gives up alot of hits and runs. I dont think I would want him.
