QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) I don't say this about a lot of places I have been, but Cleveland f***ing sucks. Its horrific, but Slyman's corned beef is the best in the world. http://www.slymans.com/

So casual on Hulu is pretty darn good. Funny and interesting.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Which creates demand. Same reason people pay more for a clearly inferior cell phone, versus a superior PC. Maybe some of the processing power is superior but portability and convenience weighs in on whether something is a superior or inferior gadget.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) How much is a flagship-level laptop though? A MacBook starts at double the price of an iPhone. A bargin-bin laptop is comparable in cost to a bargin-bin smartphone. Macbook pro's are more than twice the cost of an iphone for sure.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) Just pointing out additional costly items that are included. A laptop streams movies and can hold multiple HD res movies and TV shows, plus play them back on larger (more costly) displays. I've been meaning to call one of my old buddies from my components days to see what processors are selling for nowadays. But unless something has dramatically changed the margins on cell phones are 5x other consumer electronics. SS2k5 hit the nail on the head. Demand. People will shell out $800 for a new cell phone. Watch demand slip and prices will fall in a hurry. The costs aren't hundreds of dollars more to build a cell phone. Shipping costs are less. A dvd player is like 20 dollars and is made for much less. People also use and depend on their cell phone alot more than a laptop or personal computer. Thats why the demand is so high.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 2, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Ditto. Toughin it out until fall. Taking charger with me everywhere. Do a restore and it should fix it QUOTE (Tex @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) The display is smaller, less memory, no dvd player . . . Volumes for cell phones are greater so scale also favors the cell ohone in volume pricing. I don't see why they should cost more to manufacture. DVD player? You are showing your age Tex. It streams video and can hold multiple HD res movies and TV shows. It also packs all of that processing power into a MUCH smaller container which costs money

My iphone 6 is stuck in the battery drain/heat vortex. Not sure how it got there.

The fistfights will be back this year vs the Cubs and its so not worth it. The fans at those games are usually the lowest common denominator

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
RockRaines replied to TaylorStSox's topic in SLaM
Technically in the book it was Mance that marched on Winterfell to kill Ramsey and save Jenye Poole -
His walk rate is up a bit higher than his career average so not sure how sustainable it is. Maybe he's turned a corner, but most likely he will regress a little. His defense has been very good and should only get better with consistent play at 2B.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 2, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) Yeah, based on previews next week looks like it could be even better. So stoked for ToJ R+L=J about to be made real -

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) i do not loathe Duke. Tonight that was one horrific moment but I have some faith there. In an ideal world he moves down to the Jennings role of course and we trade for a special player One horrific pitch

Why do analysts keep saying the Bears need a guy to learn under Cutler? These are the same writers who call Cutler a mental midget.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:16 PM) With all due respect, I think you are crazy. A grown man with convictions doesn't change his mind on an issue like that five weeks later.Eaton has been great this season offensively and defensively. I like Frazier and Lawrie as well, especially Frazier, but what the heck are you talking about?? Lawrie had a huge error the other night. Are you saying Eaton won the leadership battle that night? Please admit your post was a rare horrible one. You can take a Mulligan you know? I've had my share of awful posts before but your take on that seems pretty wrong to me. Nope. The guys who have taken over wondered why a kid was taking their spots in drills when they needed the reps. They want to win not play in a country club. Eaton was loyal to his buddy but he knows now that this team needed an attitude change. That's my last post on the subject. I mentioned it when it was going on, I've exchanged many PMs on the subject and I think I'm proven right. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) I feel like this needs its own thread so I can just gush unabashedly but if Eaton keeps this up the Sox are going to get like a bajillion dollars in excess value out of that contract. Seriously. Is there anyone on the planet who was like "Adam Eaton could be one of the best rf'ers in the game"

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Is this a joke? I didn't see the humor. I guess you were mocking the situation and praising Eaton for taking the right side on that issue. The players who hated Eaton over that should be liking him now. That was a great bunt, a true team-oriented way to get on base and that catch in right was a hand-woof-em as Hawk would say. Nice grab. No it's not. The new leadership on the team are who complained about it and they were right. They've taken over and this team finally has leadership. Eaton is a good guy and backed his buddy but he knows it was the best thing for the team, now. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Well yeah, it turned Adam Eaton into Jason Heyward at a fraction of the cost which is super cool. His value in RF is higher than I ever thought it could be
