not worth it while anthrax is trolling around. We will get nothing but unmentionable drabble and all around board spam.

JD has really heated up. I called that bomb yesterday, his hot zones seem to be growing everyday. Low and inside, low and away, high and inside, he has been the man.
-
On another note, I read today that Billy Wagner is asking for a trade to a contender because he is contimplating retirement.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) First of all, I may be in the little yellow school bus, but it's running you over. Second of all, Burnett will probably (opinion) want to check out the market. Because, he will probably (opinion) command more than the money that you think we will offer him in an extension. Freddy wanted to play here, for Ozzie (fact), and was willing to sign a competitive offer. Sorry, can't compare the two.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead For the people who rode the little yellow school bus... If we traded for AJ we would sign him to the deal that he would request before seasons end much like we did for Freddy. So he would not go to the FA market. There is no way IF we trade for him we give up that much and not resign him..It be pointless, much like JS Source? Freddy gave us the Ozzie discount, and AJ will command more money, not to mention we arent going to get him in a trade since FLA wants a major league ready young cheap pitcher, who we dont have. They are speaking with the O's for Cabrera, I already told you that. Stop it with your terrible speculation. You already said you realize we wont get him, so drop it already.

Seriously, this "trade" thread has gone into Anthrax's personal im an idiot look at me thread. Can we ignore this ignoramous and get back to the REAL baseball talk.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Then it can't be risk=reward. There's much less risk in dealing an unproven minor leaguer for the proven major leaguer. Sticking with the team we have now is a much bigger risk. No one thinks this team can continue this pace (except for us Sox fans of course ). Getting a Schmidt or Clemens or anyone that is "proven," is a watering down of risk. Wrong, in your eyes its risking the future, and I say its going for the immediate reward.

I liked it better when he was arguing that Renteria was better than Tejada.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) No that is the point.. 10 mil for JS or a younger verison of JS.. I'll take the younger version please. of course neither will be on the sox with their asking price so all this arguing is pointless... Yes, so stop arguing for your opinions, we wont get him in a trade, and we wont in Free Agency.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:42 PM) yes we all know its maddux, I would love to see him turn out 1/2 as good as that. But something is wrong with him and they need to fix it.. even in triple-a he sucks. dont hate him because he is older than you. The only thing that is wrong with him is his fastball lacks movement. He needs a cutter or a two seamer to work in on righties. He needs to throw the change a little more as well.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) And how much is that option for? 10 million, about the same that AJ will command on the FA market.
-
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) I understand what you are saying, but players can put it together. Whether it's an arm angle adjustment, a batting stance adjustment or a headspace adjustment, sometimes things click. Jenks could be that guy. Baj could be that guy. Or not on any of them. You still have to decide who is worth keeping and who is worth trading to get what you need. But to say that everyone is available and we should trade them because we don't know what they will do...that will just decrease their value. Might as well not have a farm system at all then. And im saying that aquiring a proven major leaguer is a better bet than trying to fix a minor leaguer who is unproven.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) That we would want AJ burnett, over an Unhealthy Jason Schimdt.. And that AJ would be an easier Sign for us that Jason would... We already covered this, we dont have the players that FLA required in a trade for AJ, they are talking with Baltimore because they are a better fit.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Just give it up, I could explain it to you but it seems that you would still miss the very simple point I made. Its really not worth the time to explain. What I simply (as always) state the facts, Can I not help it you don't like them? Your point was that you think OC will be a better second half player and pick up his crappy stats. And by mentioning KC you tried to prove that the second half is more important than the first. Your point would make more sense if you compared OC to another player, instead of a whole team, that had an average first half of a season. Is that simple enough for your little mind? Its funny how you hold yourself to be such an intelligent person, yet cannot express yourself as such. Your arguments are insufficient, and your posts have no substance. I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Nope You just said you were comparing your man-crush OC to the Royals, isnt that comparing a team to a player? Did your parents not love you enough? Do you need a hug, because this inner turmoil is turning into poo on the message boards.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) How can you say that playing on the Sox, would not help OC stats playing in the Cell? Or Lowe's numbers would be better with the better defense behind him? Well, Lowe has crappy stats in a pitchers park, so saying he would improve in a hitters park is a stretch, not to mention he pitches against weaker opponents in the NL West. As far as Cabrera goes...come on dont go there again. With your two salaries say bye bye to AJ, Iguchi. Say hello to Willie Harris and Jamie Burke, Chris Widger, and Ben Davis
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Actaully No I wasn't, I was comparing the KC to the stats of OC and Colon..Gwety,Rowandd and yourself made the mistake of asuming that I was comparing the 2... So you were comparing individual players to a whole team in terms of statistics??? :headshake
-
He is the most untouchable player in our system for the next several years. He better stay with the sox until he is in a walker.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) What does it matter I was not comparing the 2 teams... It was used as a visual aid.. That it seems most are sitting like a deer in headlights wondering what is going on. you were comparing the two teams, you said the sox were just like the 03 royals, page back one and see it.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Its called being a realist, most people here are in fairyland, and think things are great before this season. We still have # 5 starter issues since OH can't stay healthy, we have Garland and Marky playing their asses off, and Freddy showing signs of his former self. B-mac looks like Felix Diaz part 2 so far, granted the kid is young, but all that hype and never was able to get it going in the majors or triple-A.. I like where we are at, just think things could be better, sorry If I want to fix the flaws that we have in the sox, and not just settle for a playoff berth. But you have to admit, if we put together your dream team in the offseason, we wouldnt be as good as we are now, because those players really tanked, as well as your ideas. If fairlyland=best record in the MLB, i'll take a one way ticket please.
-
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) But there has got to be a percentage of prospects that make it to the big leagues and contribute. And, yes, you don't know if a prospect will pan out. But, you also don't know if they will. In other words, you have to pick and choose. Sometimes a GM makes the wrong decisions. But to give them all away because you don't know what they will cripple your team if they are needed. BMac had an awesome spring. How were any of us to know he wouldn't carry that over to the regular season. I dont care if he carries it over to the season sometime soon. I want to win now, and the guys in the minors arent going to help us unless its in a trade. This is the best sox team we have ever seen in our lifetime, its time to capitalize on that.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) :banghead As always you miss the simple points.. well...KC's record was what after 81 games???
-
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Only three NL teams have scored more runs than the White Sox offense we b**** about so often. I think he'd end up pitching somewhere between Mark and Garcia right now (similar to Johan's numbers last year). . As for the minor leaguers, there's no guarantee there either, but is it really worth making sure we have no one who can contribute for at least the next two and a half seasons? Where would we be if we had dealt Buehrle, Garland, and Rowand a few years ago? McCarthy isn't even 22 yet and has played about half a year over A ball. Give him a break. How many AL teams score more runs than us??? As far as pitching between Mark and Freddy, he is the BEST pitcher in the NL right now, probably in the whole league. How can you say he will just be ok if he came to the AL. The guy is flat out dominating people. His ERA is under 2, that unbelieveable. And for the minor leaguers, you entirely missed the point, im saying you cant guarantee they will pan out, for the MB Garland and A-row, we have tons of highly regarded prospects who have failed, how bout Borchard, Olivo. There are 2 sides to the coin. Im saying i dont care about the next few years, I want us to have the best chance to win now, if we dont, then fine, we lost. But I want KW to give us the best players to get to the WS now.
-
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) All I have to say is KC in 03... And their record after 81 games was???? For trying to be a guy who backs up arguments, that was a pretty s***ty one. As far as picking up a starting pitcher, im not sure where KW is going with it, but I cant seem to think of one that makes feasible sense when it comes to the way he thinks. Word has it that KW was looking for some bullpen help and has his eye on Mesa and Baez, I dont like either so I hope that wasnt true. If it is starting pitching he is looking for, im still not against Zito, Clemens, or Schmidt.

QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jul 5, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) ide rather not risk it though.. Risk=reward. Not risking anything will never get you a title.
