Green seats???

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Ok, I also dislike Mariotti, but I'm a little confused. There is all this anger for putting up a website against The Hawk, making profit off someone else, and trying to get someone fired. Yet, you are willing to do it for someone else? hypocrites. Make sure you put your names, phone numbers and address, so everyone knows who you are (on the site). PM me and I will give it to you if you like.

I posted on the message board. I dont understand how its bad for the home team announcer to be rooting for the home team. Thats why they are the home team announcer. If you want to hear the game from your own announcer, tune into your local channel.

nobody wants to help???

I was saying it all along that all he needs is his breaking pitches for strikes. He has started to do that. He doesnt need the side to side break etc, just change pace, put the hitters on their heels, game over.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) I basically agree with you, except the word around the league has been that I-Rod calls a horrible game and doesn't handle pitchers very well. And if that is indeed the case, I'd prefer to have AJ based on how he's handled our staff. That doesn't make him the better player, just the better fit for the Sox. Where is this word??? Did you watch the unbelieveable pitching performance of the staff in 2003??? They didnt get a ring because of their offense.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) I've said it before, but it bares repeating: Buehrle's productivity at this stage in his career is comparable to McDowell and even Hoyt. That said, he's even more valuable, since it seems like he could enjoy a career twice or even three times as long as those two. Buehrle seems like he could be the new Maddox. Tommy Maddox???

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Im not as big of a Baj fan as others, he sounds like a great person and all but i mean player wise... But in all honesty he cant be worse than Vizcaino. In fact, hes better than Gas-caino, they just wont give him another shot.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) That is not the funniest thing ever, bloodninja blows that out of the water. are you speaking of the legend of bloodninja??

Yeah, we used to do it on hard objects. You just rub the bat against it until it gets all smooth, it compresses the outside part of the bat and makes it harder.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Getting a little ahead of yourself eh .......well i am hopin too.......Kenny pulling out Freddie last year was huge, but if he could get the best 2 pitchers on the block 2 years in a row.....WOW and I tend to do that, I already penciled in Chavez as our 3B when I heard about that rumor. Im just saying that KW is going to pull off something here, he sees the brass ring, and ANY success getting to the postseason or in the postseason includes $$$ for KW as well.

I guess El Caballo is happy being under .500
RockRaines replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The trade worked out for both clubs. If we still had Lee we would be the same team as we are now. Scotty is the best player at the top of the order in the league. I will always love CLEE -
im on freddy

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Well, I'm not saying he is going to trade for Lilly but why is there a Sox scout looking at him then? Lilly isn't better than El Duque but would he be a better 5th starter than McCarthy? Yes. Did the scout say he was scouting Lilly, its all heresay. He could be there for Koskie for all we know, anyone. I'll put it this way, so everyone can understand. You are getting ready for the state track meet or basketball game, I think you get my drift. You have been looking good all season, things are working for you, conditioning, strength, you are the best out there. All of a sudden you tear one of your shoes. Not disasterous, but in track, this could be a large deal. You then know you need a new pair. Do you 1. go to the store and buy a used pair that is somewhat like your old ones, but not as good, but will give you about the same chance of winning. 2. Spend more money on a better pair, that will help your chances of winning. Because this may be the only chance that you perform this well during a season and have this good of a chance of winning.

Im still pissed about JD, but im in on the pitching staff, who is not taken??

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) All we need is a 5th starter if El Duque can't stay healthy. Our top four guys are all good enough. I just dont see KW making a trade for a 5th guy that is worse than our current guy, it just doesnt make sense giving up prospects for that, he is better off giving up more and getting more.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Does anyone know AJ's history with Jason Schmidt? I know Tomko has it out for AJ, but what other Giants pitchers "hated" him, if any? If Schmidt/AJ's relationship was good, that could lead to something happening... former battery-mates seem to hook up if they get along, and I guarantee KW is looking into that. You bet AJ would have some input on that. It seems to me that MB, AJ, A-row seem to be the mold that KW is going for, and you know they will have input on players.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) You are assuming that El Duque can stay healthy. Kenny isn't. Yeah, and I have mor faith in Kenny, that is he has to pick up a pitcher, it will be an improvement over what he has now. Not something that is the same or worse. If El Duque IS hurt, KW will pick up someone who is better than him, because we have to give up players and pick up salary, you need to get value to give value.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) That might be true for an average pitcher.... But I dont consider Schmidt an avg. pitcher and i would expect his era to be in the 3's if he has returned to form. Fully, he is an Ace of a staff that hasnt had much bullpen or other starting guys as well. I fully expect AJ to help him return to form, at least as good as he was last year.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Ummm, he got rocked against the Sweeney-less Royals. Lilly isn't great but he would probably be a better 5th starter than McCarthy at this point in their respective careers. I dont think he would be better than El Duque, and if you need someone to spot start, and it means trading away players AND picking up salary, you are wasting your money. There is NO value making a trade for a lower tier starter, we already have 5 good ones, why add someone who is not as good?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) It's not just that. It's the pitcher's spot being a nearly-automatic out. One of the guys at ESPN did the numbers on this a few months ago...I can't find the actual link, but his number was that on average, almost every pitcher who goes from the NL to the AL sees his ERA increase by over .9 runs, and the exact opposite is found when they move the other way. Tell that to Mark Mulder and Tim Hudson.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) i dont see why "some" (not sayitaintso) are shooting down the whole idea, he could alternate starts with duque, giving them both rest and both could throw a little session in the bullpen, IMO, it would work BMAC could do that just as effectively, and without getting rid of players or picking up salary. No thanks, Lilly is a second tier starter and is worse than anyone in our rotation right now.
