  1. Jesus, I just tried to post in the pale hose forum, and i couldnt find anything worth talking about, unless you count the Mike cameron thread
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) And you believe him? Saying he won't trade Everett is one way to get teams to offer more for him. Frank has 2 pinch-hit homers already and needs to be our DH everyday. That would leave little playing time for Everett. Although, it's nice to have Everett as insurance in case we have an injury. Exactly, not to mention your left handed pitch hitter off the bench would be: Timo
  3. QUOTE(southsidefan @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) After watching the first few innings last night I was wonder if someone zapped Pablo's brain. He errors and mental mistakes could have cost us the game. I know he can play 3B and 1B but is he really worth it? What about sending him down and keeping someone whose head is in the game up in the bigs? And that magical person would be???? I say, no
  4. I just think that alot of people come on here and get real agressive early. There are alot of opinions, and just because yours gets shot down initially, you can defend it and then agree to disagree. Lately there have been new people starting numerous threads about things that flat out are ridiculous, and it makes people think less of the new person. I dont think I started my first thread for at leat 500 posts. Not to mention I try my best to look at both side of the argument and at least part acknowledging the other persons point of view.
  5. QUOTE(56789 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Exactly. I cant count the number of times ive typed something out then erased the entire thing because after thinking about it for a second i realized it might not be too smart to say that. 10 times today at least.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Of course they do.. although I'm sure they don't go around calling Neal a "effing piece of s***" when he gives up a run. Or call Rooney an "effing homosexual" beause they don't like the way he calls a game.. Just a couple examples.. but back then there were plenty. And it's effected them returning. Can i make fun of Neal for the shiny shirt I saw him wearing a coupla weeks ago???
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) The twins were winning a few years back, picked up Stewart and he gave them the spark to win the division. If you think that KW will not make a trade just because we have a great record is not looking at his history. In his history, we have never been this good, nor had this much good chemitry on the field, nor had this complete of a team.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) Actually, maybe the thread should be called "More Discussion on the Sox's 3b Issue". Does that mean I can get back up on my soapbox and cry for Chavez some more????
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) You're not the only one. Pitching, defense and timely hitting have been our strong points this year and have been the reason why we've won so many games. Shea Hillenbrand is not a butcher at third base he's just not great. He would be a down grade defensively but not enough to ignore his bat. Im not in favor of any downgrade at all. Ozuna is a slight upgrade offensively from Crede and we saw what happens when we sacrafice defensive ability. Im not for it. If we bring in anyone to transplant Crede he better be equally of better defensively.
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) I would take Hillenbrand in a second. I thought he was a butcher at 3rd base but he made some nice plays against us in our series at Toronto. He could even move to 1st base after the season is over and we could let Konerko go. So is everyone willing to trade our fielding ability for an upgrade offensively? I for one am not. I think our fielding is the only thing that has kept us from losing more games. Now that our offense is picking it up, I see no need to degrade our strong point. It makes like easier on our pitchers and gives them confidence to be able to throw ground ball pitches. I dont see adding a bat at the expense of denfense an upgrade to our team. Am I the only one who feels this way?
  11. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) You better believe KW has worked the phones heavily for a 3B and he's OBVIOUSLY had to have talked about Feliz. Crede is as good as gone, a Corpseball Boras guy who has proved to be a collasal bust. If we had Feliz as our starting 3B instead of Crede, our team would be worse. No way. He is not as good in the field and very close to Crede in terms of hitting at this point. I dont think it makes that much sense to make a move just to make a move, if KW makes a move to improve the already BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL, its going to be something that makes sense, not trading your starting 3B for a utility guy.
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) I completely disagree with this. At this point I would have Garland going #3. The way things stand right now, I see Hernandez being the one going to the pen unless he regains his control by playoff time. Its hard to say who would go to the pen, I would see Ozzie even starting Duque in the first game as he did against the twins when it counted. He has the ability to shut down opponents in the playoffs moreso than anyone that we have. We will have to see who is performing well late in the year to make any decisions about who goes to the pen.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) You do know that Edgardo Alfonso is one of the best fielding infielders in baseball right? Yes, I was talking about Feliz. Who i dont think is an upgrade to crede.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) You've done an admirable job stating the other side of the arguement seeing how the guy who started the thread gave up after 1 post. hahaha, so easily shaken, I have to admit though, I did say early last year that I thought he looked like a great prospect, particularly because of his OBP, which i think is a great gauge of how well a prospect will fare in the bigs. Its pretty hard to teach someone strike zone judgement. And if you look at some of our players, Kong, A-row, this theory seems to hold true. I think Rogo needs to move up soon to see if he has what it takes. And I also believe that Anderson is ready.
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) No one else thinks that Alfonzo is worth a look-see? 3.5 mill + Alfonzo for Willie and a low SP minor leaguer might do it. so we can throw in some worthless players for a starting player?? come on. I dont see Feliz as an upgrade to Crede anyway, this team is built on pitching and defense people, stop trying to add instand offense, the trade has to also make sense for both team, why would the Giants want to get rid of some of their more productive players for less productive players, how does that benefit them?
  16. QUOTE(shakes @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) In 2002 it looked like Aaron needed more time. Hey, im with you, I think its better to keep Rogo down this year and give him time at AAA, but someone has to drive the other side of the argument.
  17. QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Rogo stats below. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG 57 211 37 68 17 2 5 33 104 25 52 10 4 .395 .493 His stats are good, but he isn't ready for coming up to the majors yet. what part of his stats make you think he isnt ready for a back up role yet??

  19. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Take any perceived slight with a grain of salt and respond in a humourous way to show that you are not upset by anything moderately outrageous said to you. That always help. I like to use the smilies to make sure everyone knows that I am typing with a smile on my face or tongue in cheek. Almost everything i say is with a slight bit of kidding.
  20. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) No, i'm not implying i'm a baseball god...but i have been keeping score at games for a few years and have always paid attention to how things are scored and for what reason. And you are correct in saying that if there wasn't a double they wouldn't be earned. That's why you have to think about errors and runs after the inning is over. Official scorer would be a great job.
  21. SS'er Word to the wise on here as well, even if you get into long argument's with people on the board, try not to dwell on it, or take it too far. You never know when you will meet people on the board, and debating in person is way more fun that on the board, because it involves beers.
  22. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) I hate KW thats more accurate.
  23. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) I'm just sick of people slinging s*** at me for no f***ing reason and mods moving my threads because people start s*** with me. This board does not welcome newbies at all. I joined this year and I am fairly new to the board. People beat up on you in circumstances where it is somewhat warranted. How many threads have you started that lead to no real discussion? If you want to be a respectable poster on the board you have to go through the pains of being new, including getting ignored, having your opinion torn apart by stats and people not posting in your topics. I have a decent amount of posts, and I like to think I contribute in some way to certain topics, but I still get my ass handed to me 90 percent of the time. Its a part of being new to a community of crabby ass sox fans.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) In the first, the error allowed Sullivan to get to third on the steal of 2nd. Helton singled - so it was ruled that Sullivan would have scored on that hit anyway - therefore the error had no difference on Sullivan scoring, so it's earned. In the 2nd, the error on Ozuna had a run score and a guy move to 3rd. However, remember that it was a single with an error. After 2 strike outs, there was a single and a double, so it was ruled that those base runners would have scored anyway, and the extra bases that Ozuna game them were irrelevant. Hope that makes sense. Many times you have to figure out the impact the errors had AFTER the inning is over. It can't always be ruled that "those runs will be unearned" right when an error happens. are you implying that you are a baseball god??? You are spot on in your explanation. If there hadnt been a double, the runs would not have been earned. The scorer at the game was bad in my opinion when they gave the rockies a stolen base in the 9th however.
