QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Gload would do better then crede if he played on a regular basis Having Chavez take Kong's spot in the order, and Gload taking Crede's with both being upgrades defensively sounds like a good deal to me. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Pretty elite company if you ask me...but thats just my opinion. :rolly

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) If the A's dont eat any of Chavez's salary, than I think at this point you do not trade for him. I think the White Sox could shop a very similar offer around and get a much cheaper player who is doing better this year (Blalock, Hillenbrand, etc). I am a huge Chavez fan, but $10mil a year is just to much for the Sox to invest unless they are going to raise the payroll next year considerably. SB re-signing Kong and Crede in arbitration would cost just as much. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Let's not forget about the other side of that coin...we'd also be replacing Crede with Gload in the order. So would getting a huge upgrad offensively and defensively at 3B be better than a downgrade offensively at first, but staying the same if not improving defensively. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Just say NO to chavez. Yearly OPS: 1999: .760 2000: .850 2001: .878 2002: .860 2003: .864 2004: .898 2005: .593 His season high for BA is .288, yet he will make 10+ million a year for the next 3 years and the GM has to take special care of his dogs. :rolly I do not want to give up Bmac or Gio anyways. Well...we would basically be replacing Paulie in the order for Chavez so..... 1999: .862 2000: .844 2001: .856 2002: .857 2003: .704 2004: .894 2005: .798 Looks to be very close, but Chavez has a better OBP, doesnt clog the bases as much , high BA, and better fielding. Sounds like an upgrade to me. -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) One reason we HAVE to get rid of Crede some time in the near future.... http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-ssep01.html oh, he will definatley NOT be re-signed for sure. Nobody wants to deal with that ass. -
Frank is one of the best hitters of this ERA. He is the best to ever play in chicago. His multiple 300 BA 100 RBI 100 walks 100 hits 30 hr seasons I believe has only been matched by Ted Williams who did it three times. I believe Frank did it 11 times. I could be wrong, it was in the paper not too long ago. Not to mention that he is a three time AL MVP, taking one away from the cheater Giambi.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:13 PM) Unfortunately we don't have anyone else who can take his spot right now or do the job any better. Exactly, if we had another lefty anywhere it would be nice. But we really dont. I still think we should send shingo down for Baj, but thats just my opinion. Cotts DOES need to learn another pitch, however, his changing speeds just allows hitter to sit on his fastball.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Why do we care what happens to Fields? I can't be positive, but I'm 99% sure that Chavez>>>>>>>>>Fields. My sentiments exactly, I think the Chavez>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Konerko so I think if we could swing something for Chavez, dont re-sign Kong, I dont give a s*** who plays first cause we will have a MUCH improved offense as is without Crede and with Chavez. His 280 30+hr's and 100 rbi's may improve in our bandbox stadium anyway. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) If we traded for Chavez, Fields could move to 1st base and we could say goodbye to Paulsy. Field's defense at 3rd base isn't great anyways. Field's hitting isnt great either. I would rather have Rogo play 1B than Fields -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Didn't he give up a run? I think he gave up 2 hits and a run in the first inning. sorry, it was 2003, he looked as dominant as his line up until the game 8-3 with a 1.97 ERA and 99 k's

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) It'd still be well over 4 I'm fairly certain of that. And for a reliever with s***ty control, that sucks. his control issues and his limited pitch selection make me worry the more hitters she him. On a positive note, I have never seen someone dominate so much as he did in the all start futures game in 2002

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) I'm sure it's a little bit of both. He doesnt want to be Mike Sweeney, who is trapped on a terrible team for years, who basically wont get rid of him. If you were him, would you want to waste your career rebuilding on a team who is using most of its payroll on you? -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) GET VINNY FREAKING CASTILLA INSTEAD DAMN IT If we get Chavez, we will have to trade Fields to some one. By getting Vinny, we create a short term solution for this year and also next year and then we let Fields take over Why spend so much money on Chavez and give up BMac? I would rather have Vinny, trade Crede to the Nats in the process (they will prefer a younger 3B anyways....they have to build for the future) and get Fields ready for the pipeline. Crede is anyways gone as soon as Borass gets a chance to screw JR. Why care about getting rid of Fields, at this point, he is not half the player Crede was in the minors, and we know how well that turned out....... We woud have the luxury of being able to get an all-star on our team, why wouldnt you want that? Giving up BMAC may hurt in the meantime, but remember, there is a TON of good arms behind him, just waiting to come up the ranks. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) I'd say they would want at least B-Mac and 2 good prospects for him. That said, I'd love to have the guy. And I also cannot see them taking Crede as part of a deal for Chavez. I would easily give up BMAC, crede, whoever to get Chavez, with Chavez you would have an improvement in defense and offense. Not to mention if we dont re-sign konerko, he can step right into his spot in the order no problem, he would also have more bats around him and be playing in a hitters park. Man I am drooling just thinking about it. -
QUOTE(BlizzardOfOzzie @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah, I agree. Nothing personal against Walker, but he certainly does not warrant a roster spot on THIS team, I don't think. Getting rid of Perez would be a horrible move. I think Willie Harris, Timo Perez, and Ross G-LOAD are perfect utility players for the type of team we have right now. I'd be open to trading walker for a bag of balls and a new golf cart

thinking about this more and more, I think that the Braves were up there to scout Bob Wickman.

QUOTE(southsider17 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Also, I heard that Lucky Strike on Lincoln (just south of Diversey) is a Sox hangout. I've been there many a time, but never to watch a Sox game. yeah, I drove by there and saw several white sox flags out front. There is some small bars on halsted and diversey that I figured coulld be over run with a decent number of people.

its ok to admit that you live up here, im on halsted and wrightwood.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:09 AM) So...I was just watching Sportscenter... And I couldn't help but notice during the replays of Dye's home run...I believe it was caught (on a pretty nice play) by like an 8 year old kid... and the kid was wearing a Cubs uniform! DAH!!!!!!!!!!! it was the best catch made by someone in a cub uniform all season.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 31, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Am I the only one who despises the Pride Squad. I hate the fact that they exsist. hate all of them, except the blond........

I was thinking about this lately, I live up in Lincoln Park and I was wondering if anyone else lives in the area and does before/after game drinking and eating at one of the local bars. I have a group of about 5 or 6 sox fans and we are always looking for more people to take over a bar. Anyone?

I watch this show religiously, and I have all the old shows saved on TIVO, this is one of the best shows out there, based loosely on Mark Wahlberg's crew from home.

Baj is flat out mowing people down, please please please move him up this year. Gio is tha man as usual that little guy can flat out deal. I hope we dont include him in trade plans.
