QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 20, 2005 -> 11:57 PM) I knew the old man would go down sometime.... but I thought he would make it through June at least.... I guess it makes sense there is something wrong with him after that texas start which was ugly. Btw even though he was 5-1 he was probably our worse pitcher of the season so far. Got out of a lot of jams early which in the long run will come back to haunt you giving up so many hits and walks and he always tired out our bullpen. I think they are just going to give him a couple weeks rest to get him back up to snuff, Im sure they will do this once in awhile. His tired arm will get better for another 5-1 run.

Because he didnt. 5-1 W

wow what a terrible idea. Why dont we trade for Enrique Wilson too, he is pretty good.... You can keep your Zito, we have 5 minor leaguers with better stuff.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
RockRaines replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I, for one, think this is the worst passible thing to happen. Duque is a big game pitcher, and this might be a very big game. Our track record on Major league debuts for pittchers is not very good at all. IN fact, they get shelled. The last thing I want to do is have our phenom tank at wrigley. Im pissed and I dont think this is a very good decision right now. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) As far as I'm concerned Duque has pitched like crap most of the time with the Sox anyway. This past outing was just a matter of time. Guys are on base all day long in his starts and his command for the most part has been awful. 5-1 -
QUOTE(JimH @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Bruce Levine and Harry Teinowitz had quite a spirited on air back-and-forth exchange two weeks ago that was, well, unpleasant. It appears Bruce also has a short fuse when it comes to Marc Silverman, one of the midday guys. I always found Bruce Levine to be very easygoing, he is certainly that way in person ... very accomodating and personable. But for whatever reason, both Teinowitz and Silverman seem to get under his skin. I have shaken hands with Bruce a few times ... never noticed anything unusual about his hands ... but I wasn't really paying attention. That solves it then, cause he right hand looked like it was a baloon and his left was all crooked, but if you didnt notice his HUGE hand, then maybe he had a cast on it or something.

its a good thing that Freddy has a day game, he is crap at night.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 18, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) 2002 season. .272/.349/.498. 20 HR's in 117 games. Not exactly the high average, but good numbers nonetheless. On Anderson, I'll just repost my previous post on him; The high average and his ability to hit to all fields with power shows me that he is not the same as Joe Borchard, he does not have the looping swing like Joe-and he was pegged with this in single A-despite high strikeout ratio he will not approach the 139k's that borchard had that year and 158 in previous. Their stats are actually not very comparable, Anderson hit .388, .319, .270-with injury and recorded a career high 74 k's last year. His career OBP is .386, while Joe's is apprx .349, never hitting over .300 ba-wise. I dont think they are comparable players as they are entirely different at the plate as well as in the field. As far as playing Dye, and Timo ahead of Anderson, if he could reproduce these numbers in the bigs, yeah I would play him everyday before them in a heartbeat. Lets hope it doesnt come to this, but in my opinion, Anderson is on deck.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) What an informative post................................... :headshake Why is it any of our business as to if he has 'irregular' hands? Who pissed in your cheerios. I just wanted to know if anyone knew for sure, because I saw it on TV real fast and I wasnt sure. Im not trying to be mean, just trying to find out the truth. Thanks for your opinion though........

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) You would give up BMAC and Crede for Chavez? I've been a huge fan of his but I'm not sure I would do that trade...Chavez while an extremely 'sexy' player...Flashy defensive plays, smooth lefty swing...I'm not sure hes worth 10+ million a season when our payroll will only be in the 80-85 million dollar range Yes I would, and I will tell you why. I would rather have Chavez than Crede, because of his lefty bat, and proven track record. Second I would give up BMAC because I think that our rotation is set again for next year. This means that BMAC would not be given a real chance until 2 years from now. I believe that within 2 years we will have another one of our A-AA guys ready to come up and break the rotation. I believe in Liotta, and Gio and I think they could be ready in two years. I think that this could be the year we need to plan for, and I would give up a little of the pitching strength we have in the minors because we have some to back it up.

that sucks, we cant we just make it a bye when we play his team

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 19, 2005 -> 08:42 AM) Not a chance. As it stands today, if anyone but Brian Roberts or Soriano starts, its a crime against humanity. Its all about the votes folks, and 1 billion Japanese can really click those mice.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 19, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) Agreed, it would probably take Crede, Anderson OR Sweeney (OBP guys that Beane loves), and a pitching prospect to net Eric Chavez, even with him in a Dye-like slump. I could definately see Beane shopping Chavez though. The A's aren't going anywhere this season and Beane could be looking to free up money for the future. I dont think Beane wants Anderson, as it was stated before, his strikeout numbers are a little high for Beane's taste. I would think he is after Sweeney, or a pitching prospect. BTW, i would give up BMAC.

MB will make it if he continues to have the second most wins in the AL, and Gooch will get the Japanese vote.

one hand was HUGE, and the other had crooked fingers, how can nobody know about this for sure????
-
no seriously, he has deformed hands, anyone know this for a fact??
-
I saw Bruce Levine on comcast tonight, are his hands all messed up? Not trying to be mean, but I saw something was messed up with his hands, anyone know??
-
on CSN sports nite at 6:30 there is a piece on Brian Anderson turning heads in triple A, just a heads up.

QUOTE(YASNY @ May 18, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) I missed the part where Anderson was guaranteed to hit .300 at the big league level. I missed the part when he wasnt

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 18, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Weren't people saying that about Borchard? when was it that Borchard did that in triple A??????
