  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Roosevelt Brown has always been a guy that tears it up in AAA. He's just not good enough for the majors. He is like an AAAA hitter. hahahaha, White Sox, home of the only AAAA team. We could come up with a serious team of career AAA guys who arent good enough to make that last step.
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Wow, I just looked at Sweeney's numbers. It's a small sample size but damn, he is tearing it up along with Jerry Owens. We could have a sick starting outfield in the future with Ryan Sweeney in LF, Jerry Owens in CF, and Brain Anderson in RF. Not to mention our possible rotation with Liotta, Gio, BMAC, etc sick bullpen, Baj, jenks etc IF could be fields, Rogo, Uribe We have ALOT of talent waiting in the wings.
  3. Get Herbert Perry!!!!!!!!!!! Its about as likely as Castilla
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) LOL, if that happens, he will be the man. Also keep an eye on Sweeney, he is en fuego at Birmingham. He is coming along fast, very fast. I saw that, RS has one of the most effortless swings I have seen in awhile, that kid is going to hit line drives all day for the sox. I've said it before several times, I cant wait until our whole OF is home grown, its gonna be nasty.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) I never said Brain Anderson couldn't do a better job than Dead but then again, I don't know for sure either. The problem is that bringing him up would start his arbitration clock early and he would still be sharing time with Dead in RF. It's a similar reason to why bringing up McCarthy would be a bad idea. I don't think the Sox want to bring up Anderson until he is our opening day RF'er. They will give Dead every chance to break out of his horrific slump and only bring up Anderson as a last resort. Probably a very true statement. None of us want to get the clock ticking on our OF of the future, but in all honesty, either Dye or Anderson will not be with the Sox next year in my eyes. As far as BMAC goes, i dont think he is ready, he has had 2 tough outings in a row in AAA, I dont want to see him until next year.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) They aren't bringing Anderson up unless there's a significant injury. You guys can beat that drum all you want and wish and want and hope, but it won't happen. Williams and Wilder want him in AAA to get experience, he is there and not here for a reason. True, but Dye is due for a serious hangnail resulting in the DL soon.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Chances are great that Anderson would not continue to hit over .300 on the Major league level. Just look at that outfield prospect we had in our system last year Jeremy reed who had a .327 career minor league avg. and is now hitting .252 for the Mariners. Strikeouts show that he is still adjusting to the improved pitching that he is now facing in AAA compared to what he faced in AA. Hitting-wise, Reed and Anderson are completely different players, so I dont buy your comparison. There is also a reason why we were eager to not unload Anderson, and letting Reed go was not a tough situation. Strikeouts show that he is being agressive at the plate and letting his hands go. His walks have improved and his BA and OBP are looking better than what people expected. Not to mention his power numbers are improving throughout the system. I see no need to claim that he will not continue this level of success at the major league level.
  8. QUOTE(C_LEE45 @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) id say he cant do worse than the great dye ,but then again i dont know nothing i havent posted 1000 times, let the dye fans enjoy his 190 ave then cry in august why KW didnt get a hitter!!!!!!!!!1 Is school out for the summer? Please dont agree with my posts or quote me, you are hurting my credibility, thanks
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Ross Choad would probably be an improvement over Dead in RF. Dead is hitting like a dog and playing RF like a dog. Ok, so would you say Brian Anderson is potentially a better player than Ross Gload. Also if we could agree that Anderson is a better player than our current RF'er, wouldnt it be beneficial to not only see what he can do, but also raise his trade value if thats what we need to do.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Sometimes I just feel like a lot of people on this board just don't know s*** about the Sox and baseball in general. Sometimes I think you are obsessed with strikeouts and not concerned enough with other aspects of hitting. If we brought Anderson up and he continued to hit over 300, with the same type of power numbers that he is showing at AAA, and kept the same strikeout ratio, would that be an improvement over our current center fielder? I say yes.
  11. We have 3 of the top five pitchers in the AL in the wins category, I see no reason to move. How much difference is it going to make?? He can say he is no longer the 5th starter?? HE said it best, I was only 5th one time this year.
  12. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) I like the lineup. It's similar to one I suggested back when we were playing the A's and I wanted the speed out there. Somebody suggested I was a wacko for having Willie DH, but he has the good speed we need to manufacture runs and we're not losing Everetts bat. I think Ozzie had Willie as DH in a game last week which made me grin with a 'I told you so' smile. I guess you choose your poison with either the Willie in center option or Everett in right and Willie DH. Either way I like that lineup for a few games. If you are hell bent having willie out there, whose speed is a wash because he cant steal bases. Then you can put him in right. CF is the most important OF position, and A-row is not moving from that spot.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) Perhaps a certain amount of maturity will set in with this guy. Looks like Kyle Farnsworth reincarnated.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) Also right now I would consider benching Dye for a game or two and going with this... Pods LF Iguchi 2B Rowand RF Everett DH Konerko 1B AJ C Uribe SS Crede 3B Harris CF Willie in center is a terrible idea in my opinion. Why move A-row from his position to put a below average center fielder in that spot, it makes no sense.
  15. i will gladly take first pick if he doesnt want it
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 17, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) How about Brian Anderson? Drop Timo's useless ass and bring up Brian Anderson...any takers? you know im in on that plan.
  17. million dollar arm, 10 cent head. Could be the next coming of Rocker, or another great closer. Guy can flat out throw, but can he pitch? I for one, would like to find out.
  18. I dont know why you put that in Green. I have just about had enough of Pauly and his "new" stance and the plate. He is in a contract year, and cannot make contact with the ball. Something is wrong with him, and if I was KW, I would be either shopping him around, or definately NOT working on signing him. Paul's approach at the plate is not only worrisome, but lacks true commitment to the way this team is trying to play baseball. K's and dp's do not fit into our offensive approach. I would be fine if he did not see the field in the next few games.
  19. sounds good to me, im ready. PM if we take too long.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 12, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) 2001- 2.66 era. (Long Relief/Spot Starter) 2002- 1.85 era. (Middle Relief/Setup Man) 2003- 2.48 era. (Setup Man) 2004- 3.69 era. (Closer) 9 BLSV out of 45 Opp. 2005- 4.05 era. (Closer) 4 BLSV out of 10 Opp. He's a great Setup Man but has had his struggles at closer. who cares, its not gonna happen, and arguing that Dotel would be an improvement over our set up men is useless. check out Cliff's Marte's and Hermy stats this year, unbelieveable.
  21. BUT, to hijack for a second, I would glady trade Anderson etc for Todd Helton.......
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ May 12, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) That's my point too. :rolly Consider their performance over a period of time. Both those guys were in A ball last year, they have barely got their feet wet in AAA. Hey ... everybody who's doing something decent at Charlotte for the first 5 weeks of their season ... let's call 'em up!! Yeah, great idea. Especially when the parent team is 25-9 or whatever the Sox are. Consider, those two guys are not on the 40 man roster at this moment for a reason - they both need more experience. Anderson is one injury away from being called up. And experience is overrated in my eyes, the longer you stay in the minors, the more likely you will stay there. There is a reason he is raking this year, he is finally healthy. And nothing would cure nagging injuries like someone else carrying your luggage, and long sits in the hot tub in the clubhouse. I cant wait for some of these talented young players to get called up some day. I think some of you are getting a little crabby on the topic. This is a GREAT problem to have, options.
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 10, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Wow.....I can't believe I'm saying this, but that's gone too far in my opinion. I'm sure it was the girls' choice to do that, but that's borderline degrading. I find this rediculous. Once again, I can't believe I'm against it, but I am. In other countries, they expose skin alot more freely than they do here. Sex is alot less offensive in Europe and girls in south america bear alot of skin on a daily basis. Mostly its because our country has alot of extremely religious people who make a huge stink about it.
  24. Personally, I dont see alot of upside to us having either of them at this point.
