  1. Uhhhhhh I was hoping not to see Garland, damn
  2. does anyone know who is pitching on saturday???
  3. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) Crede could be on a shorter leash this year, especially if they feel good putting Ozuna at third at times and he continues swinging a hot bat. I was thinking the same thing last night, I think we will see alot of Uribe or Ozuna at third and the other at short. I actually wouldnt mind that lineup, it has alot of speed potential.
  4. And fact is, no matter how many stats and how much crying goes on here, Burke has been sent down.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) There's a clear pattern in this thread when it comes to Burke. Since you can't make an argument based on any REAL numbers you continue to denegrade the man on the believe that in your opinion there's no such thing as a late bloomer. The only fact you have to support your argument is how long it took Burke to crack the ML's & the ChiSox treatment of him since. How do I know he has a better arm? Because I'VE SEEN HIM PLAY. I'VE SEEN HIM THROW. I've likewise seen Widger & he has a hard time getting rid of the ball. I've not seen enough of Widger in defense of in the dirt pitches to claim he's any better than Burke in that regards. But if he is then I could buy that as a strong argument: Contreras, El Duque, Marte, & Shingo are notorious for wild pitches. Widger looks alot like AJ blocking pitches in the dirt.
  6. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Great news. Hermy is a very solid guy. I can't wait to see Vizcaino though. He's gonna be nasty at the cell. Nasty because he is a flyball pitcher???
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Yep. Chris Widger .242 career AVG Mike Matheny .239 career AVG Now, I'm not saying that Widger is on par with Matheny but this is likely about defensive prowess behind the plate. I think he was hitting the ball well during ST as well. Alot of the times he got screwed on a great play or hit a rocket to the ss, but I think that Widger is a good option considering his defense and his experience.
  8. I would love some loyalty, you can still get tickets whenever you want from guys on the street, but it would be better if we could jsut sell out these games.
  9. if we could get a 3B from a deal involving Ben and possibly Willie, that would be great, but for now, I think Crede is in a holding pattern until Josh Fields is ready
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Widger has a minor league contract. He doesn't need to be sent down. He actually would need to be called up to break camp with the Sox. I was under the impression that we hadnt bought his contract, so if he didnt send him up, he would be able to be bought out by other teams.
  11. I have been watching both in ST, and I personally think that Widger is a better catcher than Burke. Jamie is a decent contact hitter, but it looked like Widger not only looked better defensively, but he was hitting in the correct areas situationally. I think that another factor was that they wanted to keep both receivers, but they CANNOT send Widger down because he will be claimed.
  12. The paper just said there are more than 1000 tickets available for monday. Come on guys, we NEED to sell out the opener!!!! Who is with me
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Honestly the more I think about this, the little it makes sense. Widger is nothing but a bum. Yes, he's a solid catcher but Burke did a nice job at the major league level last year and is Buehrle's personal catcher. He also has a lot more familiarity with the staff. If the Sox are dealing Davis, they better have Burke's ass in Chicago cause he's superior to Widger. On a sidenote, I just don't see where this move makes sense, unless they are getting something that can help them. How about trading Davis who is overpaid, and placing Widger who is close to the same type of catcher, a little better defensively for less money. They can send Burke down because he has options, but they can send Widger down because he can then be picked up by other teams. I dont understand this absolute love for Davis, Ozzie was upset that he came to camp overweight, has been sitting out because his finger hurts, and has under achieved his whole career. He will bat .250 and back up AJ for a million dollars, why not get someone to do it for less than half of that???
  14. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Burke was already sent down, so my guess is that Widger would make the team as the backup. With all of this being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Widger get traded instead of Davis. nobody wants widger cause he is older than Ben. Ben was a first round draft pick that people still think will work out.
  15. Burke has been optioned to Charlotte so the argument doesnt matter.
  16. They previewed the sox, Kruk said that we were going in the right direction, but there were too many question marks in our starting rotation.
  17. so hes not addicted to cocaine????
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I know the whole Retro 1983 jerseys are in right now, but god those were ugly. I was never so happy with a uniform as when they went to the late 80's look and dumped that horrid 83 jersey. disagree imensely. The 83 uni is a classic and clean look that will definatley stand out as one of the best that they have worn.
  19. that is exactly what you dont do in that situation, first pitch, grounder to the left side, come on joe.
  20. The best thing is all the players that hang in there sometimes. I remember seeing Jose V in there last year and just being casual.
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) I think you're right about the Sox hate fest, but I bet they pick the Cubs to finish 2nd, maybe even 3rd. I'll take that bet, Im sure their pitching staff and their "focus on defense and OBP" will push them right up to the top again.
  22. Im in sales downtown. The traveling is good, benefits are great, but to me the only thing that matters is pay, which makes me love my job. Some other people may not agree
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) Nothing personal here, but unless the Virgin Mary visited him, there is no way his calf is back to normal. When he got to camp 3 weeks ago, it was noticably smaller than the other one. There is no way phsycially possible that it is back to normal. I didnt mean that it was normal size, that was an error on my part, but they, and Frank reported that is was back to its normal strength. It was also reported that way in the sun times today as well.
  24. pick cubs for first place because of their "stellar" pitching rotation. (maybe this year they will pitch a few games) They will pick Cleveland to finish ahead of us because of their "young talent" and their awesome rotation and their dependable closer. I think we should trade contreras to the cubs, then they could have the best "potential" rotation in baseball that never succeeds.
