  1. Im surprised she didnt cross out great and change it to "white"
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) How about the team agreed to it? In writing? And now they dont, big deal. Teams ban smokeless tobacco, facial hair, jewelry, music etc from clubhouses every year. He's the one who decided to retire from the entire sport like a baby.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 11:21 AM) Looks like LaRoche and company still going at it: E3 Meat Company ‏@E3Meat 1h1 hour ago Baseball is a game started by a father & son playing catch! @e3laroche #familyfirst He really needs to make a decision and then stop trying to win this argument in the media. His company clearly doesnt get the issue which is he cant be the only one with this special treatment. No other player in the league brings their kids to every single game and practice and team activity. He needs to explain to all MLB players why he is special.

    Having a baby

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Enjoy the last few months before he's running away from you Then immediately talking back
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:48 AM) No it's not. LOL, yes it is. Being on his side means supporting his actions, which means retiring instead of talking, or working it out or demanding a trade or ANY other option.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) I would hope if my dad had $13 million coming to him in the next 6 months he wouldn't walk away from it because his boss didn't want to see me so much. But he did. Who are we to judge? I am on LaRoche's side with this, but if I was him, I wouldn't have retired. So you arent on his side then. His side is to leave the game of baseball because of it.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) I've been in the White Sox team hotel many times. They would have zero problem avoiding the Drake at the hotel. That wasnt the point.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:09 AM) you are still not getting it. Regardless if he is playing the kid is around all the time. The batboys and girls are not in the locker room. There is no change in the policy. Kids are still welcome. Unfortunately, the sox as most teams, assume that a player would not abuse the privilege of bringing kids in. He is not banned from the clubhouse. He just can't be there all the time. The bat boys arent traveling with the team to every away game and staying in the hotel with the players.
  9. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:07 AM) Here's Haugh in the Tribune He's right.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) To the people tweeting and re-tweeting anything with #Familyovereverything or #Familyfirst, that's code for "I'm an idiot looking for attention of how classy I am". My company told me I cannot bring my kid to work so clearly I am a bad parent.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Rumor is that they are going to win to spite Kenny Williams, as they have a poster of him and will rip off part of his clothing after each win. Dammit you beat me to it.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) Maybe, but again, if they are bothered by him being there every day, why would they not be bothered by him being there 3 days a week? If it's a distraction, it's a distraction. If you can work 5 days a week, why not all 7? If you can work you can work.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) Yes they are. But in all the sports locker rooms ive been in baseball gives kids the most access. LaRoche just abused the privilege. Exactly, Nightengale's column hit on that. Kids are around clubhouses once in awhile, or maybe home games. But to be around 100% of the time whereever his dad was, traveling with them on the plane and living in the hotel? Its ok to ask to have that dialed back.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/colum...liams/81885844/ I mean even good old Bob says that some of the players were uncomfortable. Basically they had to watch their mouths at all times.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) Hopefully March Madness swallows this up, but as of now, it looks like Ken Rosenthal, Bryce Harper, Blaine Boyer, Kelly Colis, and *sigh* David Kaplan are the main people bashing the Sox, either directly and indirectly. Luckily, Kaplan is getting a lot of flak, although I do see people citing his "report" in defense of LaRoche... In about 3 hours this will be gone and only the weakest of the sports writers will try and hang onto it. Overwhelmingly the press is for the move the Sox made as are most people.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:35 AM) No I don't. If he is a distraction why would it be OK if he still is a distraction only less of the time? It makes no sense. Maybe the issue is being there ALL THE TIME. For example, maybe the kid doesnt travel with the team on away games. There is quite a difference between someone being there all the time and only some of the time. Otherwise everyone who moves in with their girlfriends would work out.
  17. I love how some people want to use Fielder and Griffey as examples of why this should be allowed. Those are two kids who ended up f***ing HATING their fathers.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) I disagree. I'm sorry that I'm not going to jump on board and praise him for being a great father. He's not a great father. Dont you know? You can only be a great father if you take your kid to work with you everyday, the rest of us are bulls***.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) I linked an article which stated he didn't have total access, and he knew his place. And there are other sources that said he was around 100% of the time. Which is correct?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:21 AM) And those are two guys who were here last year and used to it. Maybe the new guys came in and thought it was a distraction. Plus nobody is going to come out and say "good, it was weird he was here." He's probably a good kid and it's like having a locker room manager around, but it sets a bad precedent and clearly there was a reason management did something now.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:22 AM) So the press was at the team meeting taking photos? You're better than that. Obviously not all team meetings are closed door. Which is also why you have no idea if he was there in those either. But when the team is meeting and the press is there he was in the picture. Even if he's not a distraction it's a bad precedent to set and they were right in going forwar establishing team rules around it.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:01 AM) No he wasn't involved in team meetings. He did odd jobs and didn't have access to the clubhouse during games. Read the articles I linked earlier in this thread. LaRoche didn't ask for special privileges at all. He was doing as he did last year when the Sox said nothing. Either ban kids or give them x amount of passes. Many teams ban kids. If that is the policy, fine. Don't half assed adjust said policy because you think one kid is around too much.KW said it wasn't about this kid, it's about the next player who wants to bring his kid every day. Why didn't he ban kids when Ozzie was managing? There are literally pictures of him in team meetings.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) It's just another case of the White Sox doing something half assed. KW says kids are welcome, Drake is not a distraction, just bring him less than half the time, and everyone else, bring your kids they are welcome, just maybe not today. Either make a clear rule for kids in the clubhouse, or ban them. BTW with bat boys and clubbies, there are young guys around these players all the time. It isn't like Drake was sitting in team meetings. Pick a lane KW. Most clubs including the Sox allow players families for Sunday games. Laroche wanted special privileges, and the Sox wanted to dial that back. Oh well. Oh and Drake was sitting in on team meetings and such. He was literally there for everything like a member of the team
