  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 03:55 PM) Collins is a yes so they have the votes, now they just need a bill. Lobbyists not done writing it yet, I guess. They have votes for a bill that doesnt exist. That should make everyone really confident in whats going on.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) Celebrity Big Brother will start in Feb and only run 3 weeks. Yawn whats the f***ing point then
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Yes, I want the tax code to be exactly 10 pages. Not 9 pages, not 11 pages. Never mind. Either way, there will never be reform when the people who make the laws are among the very wealthy. People in Washington have zero incentive to make legit changes. The GOP "makes sure it hurts Democratic states and voters as much as possible". The Democrats make sure the poor are given just enough handouts to make sure Democratic states and voters stay Democratic while doing nothing to hurt their own pocketbooks. I guess one side appears better than the other because it pretends to help people, but nothing is really ever getting better for most of the country. These people stopped representing their voters decades ago, and I'm f***ing sick of it. People we elect shouldnt be made millionaires while in office.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Flake is a YES, 100% this is passing today. for sure, they are passing this "win" before the hammer drops on Trump
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) Bosa being named B10 defensive lineman of the year is funny. Nick Bosa: 28 tackles, 12.5 TFL, 6.0 sacks, 47 QB pressures, 19 stops Mo Hurst Jr: 58 tackles, 13.0 TFL, 5.0 sacks, 46 QB pressures, 37 stops Chase Winovich: 84 tackles, 17.0 TFL, 8.0 sacks, 49 QB pressures, 48 stops Hurst has a legit beef, Winovich does not. Bosa played less snaps thanboth. But whats even funnier is Michigan fans clamoring to ignore stats last year as Peppers was wrongly given DPOY, now they are SO important.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Did the tax package just die? The Dow went from green to down 225 in like 5 minutes. Hooray for volatility! Buy Buy Buy!!! I believe the deficit as well as the tax increase trigger are bigger issues that are coming to light
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) Fake news. Sources close to Trump say this charge against Flynn is no big deal. Everyone lies in DC. He flipped so easily.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 09:55 AM) My brother lives in Switzerland, and that is pretty much how it works there. Very little income tax, but everything you buy is ridiculously expensive. I think we are a bit too big and too diverse for something like that. We already do that at a local level
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 07:47 AM) If anybody truly cared about tax reform, they would just blow up the entire tax code booklet and make it about 10 pages long. Thats the thing. This isnt reform, its a cut. And its a cut that is being bought and paid for by the largest of donors. They have no interest in removing loopholes they've been exploiting and they have no desire to actually help anyone but themselves. These guys are going to harm medicare, medicaid and social security in the next year. Thats truly showing your colors.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) Im not an accountant but I thought the main benefit of S-Corp was that it was a pass through entity. I tried to look this up but Im not really sure its impact unless you were talking about it lowers the highest tax bracket on S-Corp income. I dont know what an S-corp is. But I do think tax reform is beneficial. I think SMB's and mid market companies deserve some breaks. I DO NOT think large corporations need more money and I do not think multi-millionaires and their kin need lower taxes or the ability to move and hide money without penalty. This entire generation of politicians needs to go.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 08:03 PM) Many would disagree. This was the Obama care path. Many apparently are too busy watching Fox than actually doing research. There were hundreds of hearings as well as bipartisan amendments. Reagan's tax plan had over 800 hearings. Where are the hearing or even analysis for this piece of s*** bill?
  12. They keep point to the Reagan era, there were hundreds of hearings on that and it still threw us deep into a recession.
  13. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) I use Turbotax and it automatically checks both ways for me. It always says taking the standard deduction is better. I never have much of the usual things like medical expenses or charitable donations. Our property taxes are pretty low as well. Have you ever gone to an accountant? Mine is just magic I think.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) For a majority of filers, taking the standard deduction (currently $11k) is better than itemizing because they don't have more than $11k in deductible expenses. Only 30% of households overall itemize. That increases dramatically as you climb the household income scale, though, with something like 95% of households over $200k itemizing. A big tipping point is "has a mortgage" or not because the mortgage interest deduction puts a lot of people over the current standard deduction. If you're renting and don't have student loans or state taxes, you probably don't really have much to itemize. Most people's taxes can be done on a 1040EZ no problem because they've got W-2 income and not really much else to worry about. That makes sense. I guess i started itemizing when I bought my place, but I was fairly young.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) Most people don't itemize and just take the standard deduction because it's more than their itemization would be. They're doubling the standard deduction, which sounds good on its face, but they're also eliminating the personal exemption. That means it generally ends up as a wash for most people, and slightly negative in the longer term. The bigger impact will be when tax cuts for billionaires are used as an excuse to cut public programs and social safety nets. If it really is most, people need to start going to accountants. I always itemize and save WAY more money.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) What will be interesting is what happens after the rich get their tax cuts. Trump will be trumping around telling everyone how much he's accomplished, and how great he is, but I do think the republicans that have spent their time looking away at all his BS will start to actually frown upon his behavior. Any usefulness to their party is coming to an end. The minute people go to do their taxes and realize you cannot itemize anything anymore will be a wake up call for a lot of folks
  17. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) New York radio personality was Roger Stone's WikiLeaks contact http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/29/politics/ran...eaks/index.html https://twitter.com/Credico2016/status/935686799552385024 https://twitter.com/RyanLizza/status/936024497647423488 Everyone is flipping
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 12:29 AM) The Lauer details are really bad (as are so many other cases). But geez. This guy was supposed to be Mr. Dad of the century. And he drops his pants (allegedly) and shows off his you know what to some female? She doesn't want any part of him and he gets mad?? Why do all these companies have these fake HR departments??? These women need to go to HR immediately and record the conversations and in the future get these predators fired sooner. I know it's tough to come forward. I just hope we keep hearing about these creeps who misused their power and did these things to women. Toss them all out. We won't feel sorry for them. That includes Trump. I hope if he's guilty some women come forward. And not to be partisan but Mr. Clinton sounds like he was not exactly proper at all times. My take: Shame on you Mr. Lauer if these charges are true. Abuse of power is wrong. Thats a great point, most of these companies launched Ombud departments or avenues for people to report this stuff years ago, even if its anonymous. Where was that, and if they were reported, what the hell?
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 08:39 PM) Duke vs Indiana seems unfair. I stand corrected
  20. QUOTE (Scoots @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 09:18 PM) Anyone else feel like this Jose Abreu trade talk is way at overrated? Maybe because of the extremely slow off-season and this was the only remotely interesting thing that anyone could latch on to? Yes. I dont think Boston has the chips and are trying to gain leverage for something else.
  21. What is wrong with these guys? I f***ing dont get it and never have.
  22. That’s Ohio States fourth straight loss in the challenge. It’s gonna be two years until we are competitive. No matter what anyone says, Matta really really fell off.
