  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 7, 2017 -> 02:27 PM) Oklahoma with a pathetic loss. Odds are they're just not that good, but if OU somehow runs the table I hope this loss isn't forgiven. They seem to always have a bad loss.
  2. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:29 PM) Wow. I rarely lock my doors. I've actually gone to work and forgot to close my door. A neighbor called me at work and called me a dumbf**k and because he had to close my door. My wife wasn't too happy that day. Luckily, i had locked the dogs up that day. LOL. One of the reasons I miss my dog (we put her down last week), what a great deterrent. We are in a safe area but very close to the city and you never know. We usually lock up at night, and pretty darn tight. I do have 24/7 cameras recording tho...
  3. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I know the arguments and to each his own but I just do understand it. Of course, I've always chosen to live in very low crime areas. Not everyone has that option. I'm pretty paranoid, so I have cameras, an alarm and a shotgun as a last resort. I assume the minute I hear my alarm get triggered I will be able to unlock my safe, load a shell and cock that SOB loud enough to scare off whoever it is. My goal is to deter an intruder, no silently hunt them down and murder them in my home. I want every single thing to scare them off.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) I've never understood the people who don't lock up their firearms in the house. Get a safe lock them up. That takes care of most of the issues. Biometric safe is what I have. Nobody else has access.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) Where that's where your environment plays a factor. Come down near Joliet on 55 and the state has free trap shooting ranges outdoor. If you want to hunt game they also do very cheap pheasant release in season for anyone with a license. I don't like in indoor ones at all. They have trap shooting at OPCC, but im not much of a rifle guy quite yet, I've only trained with my 9MM and my shotgun. Anything has to be better than that tiny little BS range they have, its awful. I am nervous every minute that I am in there.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) There's no problem with that. I would bet that many more targets are destroyed than living things anyway, especially with limits for hunting. Not a lot of places to practice on game around these parts... Gotta go squeeze into one of the horrible ranges. And they are horrific: http://www.midwestguns.com/
  7. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Deer, bear, moose anything for which a high powered rifle is needed. Again if you read thorough I'm in favor of eliminating the automatic weapons. But rifles are needed in many instances. Many of these being culling deer or coyotes which will over run crops and neighborhoods. I understand using a rifle to hunt, but an AR-15 or anything semi-automatic with large clips is stupid and unnecessary for those uses. We agree on that it appears. i dont disagree with rifles for hunting.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) Well I meant for things that they specifically used for. If you want to go that route, firearms have a decorative purpose for sitting above a fireplace or if cabinets. Yeah, you can do better than that. I dont see how decoration changes from item to item. With your example, tobacco leaves can also be used that way. but I do like the similarities we are finding in edge use cases for guns and tobacco, they are becoming more and more similar by the moment.
  9. I hope to never ever ever have to aim mine at living things.
  10. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) What is it used for that doesn't get into the body in some form? Biological research, producing oxygen, protein, biofuel....
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) Because you can any firearm for hunting or sport shooting. I'm not sure which ones you would exclude. What animal do you hunt with an AR-15?
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:45 AM) That's too narrow. Players that may not have taken money but suddenly are under a coaching change could transfer, or players that may not have taken ('18 class) but main recruiter is gone could decommit. But yeah, Ohio State is going after Ramey. I don't think he took money, but you are going after him. And a lot of people are on the fence about it. Thats why I posed the question. Is it worth it to go after those kids if you think they may have been dirty.
  13. If hunting/sport are the only real "other functions" for a gun that killing people, then why not only allow guns used for those? indy cars arent street legal...Funny cars arent street legal.... why are there guns that literally serve no purpose legal?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) Depending on the fallout from the Adidas scandal, a lot of crazy things could happen over the next year. Thats the thing, do you want recruits that would have taken money from those schools?
  15. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) Looks like indeed it was just scary looking.great news Tracey Myers‏Verified account @TramyersNBCS Following More Nick Schmaltz takes the ice for practice. #Blackhawks f*** yes. Any news on kero? Dirty f***ing Crosby
  16. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 11:19 AM) Sport? Hunting? Your general point that attitudes change with regard to American traditions is well taken, but comparing guns and tobacco doesn't really work. Tobacco fell out of favor because it was (1) harming/killing a large number of people (far more than guns) and (2) the tobacco companies lied for decades about the harmful effects. I'm not aware of any gun manufacturer claiming that their guns are perfectly safe tools that don't harm people or don't have the potential to harm people. Gun companies literally claim that guns dont kill people. Tobacco contributed to deaths, but the still have trouble directly correlating it to the ailness that it causes. Guns literally kill directly with zero other function. They are very comparable both from the perspective that they are not necessary in daily life and in that they were considered a huge part of the american fabric and economy. The only difference is that the tobacco industry cannot and was not able to hide behind an outdated Amendment.
  17. Wow, Buzzfeed got a ton of emails about Breitbart and Trump's campaign.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) Yeah but tobacco is harmful 100% of the time. Guns are not. Their other function being.....
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) They're more of a gimmick than anything really dangerous. Just regular bullets with the same sort of coating that fireworks have so you can see them shoot into the air. But they are designed for when you fire a lot of bullets quickly so you ensure your aim is right. At least thats what Ive seen from documentaries.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 08:28 AM) The shooter tried to buy tracer rounds (the ones that glow like you'd see in WW2 films) at a gun show and he was also trying to shoot aviation fuel tanks at McCarron. Shooting them with normal bullets wasn't going to do anything, but hitting them with tracer rounds might have. So why the f*** are those legal? We need to take a deeper look at the ammo and what we allow.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 05:41 AM) They only had a filibuster proof majority in the Senate for something like 90 days between franken being seated late and Kennedy dying and being replaced by Scott Brown. Actually even less, July 7th through August 29th, so a big chunk of that time was the summer recess. Actual in session days with filibuster proof majority wouldn't have been very many. SHHHH, your facts dont line up with the narrative.
  22. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 10:46 PM) He's "fine" per Q. I don’t see how that’s possible. He couldn’t even walk.
