Tobacco was American as apple pie and baseball at one point, and then we got smarter. I’m hoping that happens eventually here as well. It’s just sickening how many killlig devices we have out there. Make every new gun or rifle have smart features. Eventually the dumb ones will phase out or will be super expensive.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 05:14 PM) This kind of reminds me of a September start between Detroit and the White Sox, where the sox would have a glimmer of hope for possible wildcard birth “if only they could beat Detroit....”. Verlander would rise to the challenge is Sale would give up 5. Yep. I seem to remember a few times where he folded a bit.

Chris Sale, not good under pressure

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) Really? Brad always seemed alright, I know he was a Chicago area guy. All I hear is how he's a dbag absentee father.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) How about you have to be a member of a well-regulated militia if you want to be able to purchase a gun? Can we just stick with what was actually written? Why is the well-regulated militia thing ignored but the rest of the 2nd amendment is treated as gospel from God herself? The people who wrote the second amendment had no idea guns would be what they are today. Those things took forever to load, didnt fire at nearly the velocity and bullets werent mass produced. Its a joke standing behind that thing all the time. Start with regulating the production of ammo, then ban manufacturing of things like assault rifle and semi-autos that can be converted and then work on making guns smarter. It shouldnt be that difficult.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Between the Chicago buy, and the Chance buy, I wonder if he was scouting, practicing, or getting his nerve up? Right, its awful. Obviously it would have been a bigger effort driving all those guns out to Chicago so maybe he just kept it local.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 12:42 PM) ptac (and I guess anyone else) - thoughts on requiring firearms to be titled like a vehicle? Seems to me that would make it easier to create a regulated secondary market for firearm sales. It would require a nationalized database, and there would be issues accounting for the many millions of firearms already in circulation, but I've never heard a particularly compelling argument against. I'm perfectly fine with it, in fact I'm more than happy to have inspections and certifications. Also, we have the technology to make guns "smart." We easily could launch a program where guns will not fire right after you purchase them, as well as only fire when handled by the registered owner. Its quite easy actually.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) It falls under "if you give them an inch they'll take a mile" If you give the government a concession on automatic rifles will they take more late. I see why people get crazy about it. But seriously, what are assault type rifles really used for? its not home protection or protection from the very rare large animal. I dont get the reluctance of giving those up.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) Why would they be required? And you still have a mind not fully developed that would have access and know how in using it. A lot more could go wrong than any benefit IMO. If they aren't old enough to drink or smoke or drive, I don't see why they should be more than fine to shoot guns. ? I grew up in a city, we had no need. I own one now for protection for my family. I assume out in the country its for many reasons, but I honestly dont know.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) What is the benefit of a 10 year old shooting rifles and shotguns and pistols? Learn to handle it with respect and knowledge in a setting where guns are sometimes required.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) The vast majority of gun deaths come from legally owned and obtained guns. YOU are the one skewing the information for your benefit. Are there really that many gun thefts? Pretty sure almost every gun out there was legally purchased at one time.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 08:53 AM) The motivation is apparently to protect the hearing of people who do a lot of shooting, or at least that's what's presented publicly. According to DTJ its for kids to get into shooting. Ear plugs apparently dont exist

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) The "listen I don't mind if your gay, but if you can't afford healthcare I think you should die party". I mean, if you want to take it to the extreme, sure.

I sure hope this trolling doesn’t continue to dive into the depths of infowars false flag conspiracy theories.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 10:36 PM) Most political scientists and psychologists are liberals....so meh to your "research". Can you link me to those statistics?

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) Didn't know they broke up or got divorced. I respect Brad for hooking up with Cameron in San Diego. She was hot. Supposedly he hooked up with one or more other cast members.

So much planning went into this. It makes me so sick.

There is no reason there cannot be a middle ground between financial conservatism and social liberalism IMO

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) So it is all coincidence that one party has pushed radically left, but total logic that the other one has pushed radically right, even though the same political undercurrents exist for both. Sure, why not. If that is what it takes. Frankly I hope that widens the center for a new party to emerge.
-
Oh god, some of those cast members, LOL. Brad is the worst dude ever. His ex, Tori, lives on the south side.
-
So he filmed himself doing this...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) Now being reported that Christiana Duarte was indeed killed in the shooting. Duarte's girlfriend is hospitalized after taking a bullet that entered her face and exited her neck. Those were serious bullets too. She cannot be in good shape.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 03:47 PM) The only reason one of them was the "worst candidate in modern history" is the use of a private email server, which was the worst thing ever for 12 months and is again of course ok today. I still think both parties could have done a lot better.

God, If I see one more copy and paste FB status about how the gun industry would collapse the economy if guns were regulated I'm going to puke. The entire industry employs around 30% of a company like Walgreens

The proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid are f***ing criminal.
