  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) Has anybody on here ever had what's diagnosed by the lab as eczema on the soft skin area BEHIND the knee? Itches like a mofo and the lab said it's commonplace. Just wondered if any Soxtalk medical people were experts on how to get rid of this bulls*** itching forevermore? p.s. Do any of you who play sports have issues regarding sprains? Do you tape your ankles before playing softball or basketball? Any recommended brand of shoes or do you just go play and let your ankles respond the way they may? I get it behind my knee and on my elbows. I just developed it. If hyrdocortisone doesnt work then it may be something like detergent, food etc. Mine is actually being caused by wheat beer as well as dry cleaning. I play volleyball frequently and I've worn active ankle braces since I played club in HS. They have saved me a broken ankle or 3. For softball, nada.
  2. Rush and Alex Jones are going to have to start getting more and more extreme if they want to keep their audience. Conspiracy theories are going to get out of control.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) The top end ones now are pretty impressive. They even have two different bandwidths for home wifi. I pull down nearly 25 gig down on wifi. I am getting about 175 gigs on my PC. Yeah, the guy came to set it up and I wrote him off, but he optimized the s*** out of it. I have my work PC's on a totally different band and network and they scream.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) I listened to Rush while I was in the car today. He went wild saying Trump has been amazing and blamed the media for refusing to point out anything positive that Trump does. Hadn't heard Rush in a while and that's what he was spouting. He said the liberal media is hurting the Democratic party by trying to help it. Don't shoot the messenger here. Just reporting what I heard. Its always nice to hear about his desperate propaganda. Doesnt surprise me that he's grasping at straws.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 8, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) He was so sure he had her as well She was more prepared than everyone who was questioning her. Not all that shocking actually.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) There was a similar situation that occurred in college at a fraternity. There was an "auction" event where girls from other sororities showed up at their fraternity house and would bid on pledges to essentially act as a slave. That sounds really bad typing it out, but it was usually a menial task like vacuuming or helping move some stuff. Anyways, the members of this fraternity got their pledges incredibly intoxicated for this event, and one of them was so bombed that he tripped down the stairs and knocked his head a few times. Thankfully, these fraternity members were responsible enough to immediately call some paramedics, and he was air lifted to Sioux Falls. I believe there was some permanent damage and a lawsuit against the fraternity, but he lived. There were other issues with that fraternity too, including a possible recruit dying of alcohol poisoning at a rush function. Needless to say, they no longer have a chapter at USD. I imagine that Beta chapter will also be eliminated. Fraternities can be great and I wouldn't be the person I am today without joining mine, but, frankly, they can be incredibly dangerous too for any number of reasons. Without oversight, any organized group of college kids where there are 22 year olds and 18 year olds can be super dangerous. Our baseball team was notorious for their hazing, as were we. The key was to always have someone there with a clear head, and thats why we never had anything worse than some stitches while I was there. This is also why my fraternity is re-colonizing because we got tossed when the idiots starting running the show.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 8, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) Seeing as serving alcohol to someone underage is a crime, its not hard to call them criminals. I understand that they may not have "wanted" anyone to get hurt and that they likely didnt want to get the hospital/police involved because they were worried about getting in trouble. The problem is that by avoiding something like an underage drinking ticket, they instead are now facing much worse consequences. I can empathize as someone who has been involved in bad decisions in college, but at a certain point you have to realize that you are compounding bad decisions. The only thing that could really help in a situation like this would be an "amnesty" program, where the school/police agree that if you report something life threatening you wont get prosecuted. Not that I believe that would ever happen. We always had at least 2 sober supervisors at events like that so people could make actual adult decisions. Clearly these morons were more interested in self preservation.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 8, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) It is pretty easy to call these kids criminals. They knew something was wrong, they waited 12 hours after he hit his head to call the police and they organized a common story that did not include the part about him falling down the stairs. Everything they did leading up to the moment when he lost consciousness was dumb college kid stuff, everything they did afterwards was criminal, they basically let the kid die of a brain bleed instead of calling an ambulance Morons. Definite lack of oversight for those activities.
  9. College kids have always been dumb, and will continue to be dumb. People love targeting something they can see, like the fraternity in this case, but really alcohol will continue to be the common denominator.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ May 7, 2017 -> 09:22 AM) What I like about cutting the link between employer and insurance is it allows small business to compete in the job marketplace more effectively. Small businesses are much less likely to outsource jobs to other nations. I believe long term it will really benefit our economy thus making America great again™* *Used without permission Single payer would for sure help this as the tax payer and not the employer would be paying for insurance. Overall the cost to the tax payer should be less, thus giving them more money to pump into the economy as well. WIn/win
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 7, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) Yes. Had to reset twice yesterday. May just go get one from xfinity to rent again. Yeah, their new ones are better. I have their new one with two networks for myself and family and I have an Apple one hanging off of that for guests. Seems to be ok.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ May 6, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Stupid Motorola modem has been dropping the wifi signal a lot lately. Frustrating when I'm streaming por...music videos. You reset it? I've had to have mine swapped out a few times. I'm fairly sure I just wear them out.
  13. I don't know if it's been posted but Os fans are calling for a forfeit because of the SOX intentionally hitting the pitcher. Lol
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ May 5, 2017 -> 05:10 PM) I think it will be interesting the shift when the GOP's Trumpcare is the law of the land. We'll see how magically it will work better for Republicans and worse for Democrats, just like the Affordable Care Act only caused problems for Republican voters. Long way to go, still has to go through the Senate. It will be interesting if the GOP still elects to stay on the ACA
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ May 5, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) They didn't release the bill until late Wednesday and it takes a while to analyze something so complex. But to answer your questions: 1) Realistically this should not affect employer sponsored healthcare. It is possible though, that your employer could instill lifetime caps that could mean that anything over the amount, you are responsible for. The benefit is you'd probably be paying less for monthly premiums, you'd also be getting less protection. 2) This will not affect COBRA, which is allowing you access to your previous employer provided health care. Does not affect 3) It is highly unlikely that your Cobra plan will be more expensive than anything on the market. This bill unwinds community rating protections, if you have a clean health record, you could probably find cheap catastrophe plans. But until the CBO scores we have no idea what a premium for someone like you would look like. Employee sponsored HC could be drastically changed if companies are allowed to cap your benefit amount to save themselves money. So you not only have a deductible, but you also have a maximum coverage amount.
  16. Lol Trump just admitted universal healthcare is better than what we have. He's also the worst public speaker ever. "We have a failing health care." That's not even a sentence.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) If you need a new dentist mine went to Northwestern... (edit) I dont believe he is "in network" for any insurance though. Last time I was there I was joking around because my office switched from Metlife to Delta Dental, and I kept saying that it sounded like a second rate insurance company. He claimed that Delta Dental is fine, but I still have my suspicions. I guess at the end of the day its more his problem then mine, because hes gotta get those insurance codes right. DD is probably larger than Metlife, BUT coverage can vary from plan to plan (DDIL, DDCA etc). we went from UGH/DDCO to full Aetna and nothing has changed from my doctor roster.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) But I only want to go to doctors who went to Northwestern or better. If the govt is in control of my healthcare maybe I wont have that choice! My dentist DID go to U of I. Maybe thats why my gums hurt so bad.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) Medicare + most other countries in the world say otherwise though. Literally every other civilized country has proven its a successful model. The USA has only proven that privatized for profit healthcare is a failure.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) A whole lot of people on the left haven't been happy with many aspects of Obama's administration. Republicans will make those things worse. That's pretty straight forward. Thats right. Its not a continuation, it makes it even more unbalanced than it has been. Going backwards is not the direction we should be happy about.
  21. Did they re-use the banner from Bush's war?
