QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) In Sweden... the place Trump said immigration was a big problem and the left laughed at him. Tough week for the neolibs. Who was arrested?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:50 AM) Campaigning/popping off at the mouth is different than governing, as both Trump and the House GOP are learning. edit: you do have tons of elected GOP you can point out the hypocrisy of, though. McConnell, Rubio, Ryan, and many others have come out praising Trump's strike but chastised Obama for wanting to do basically the same exact thing the first time Assad was using chemical weapons. Its not the flip flop that scares me, its the why. I am not a huge fan of a president bombing or going to war to improve his public perception. And I think thats exactly what this is.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) Worse then the never Trump neocons are the war happy liberals that are supporting this. Schumer and Pelosi both supported it. If you turned on your TV last night to see what was going on, you would be hard pressed to find any dissent. Fox, CNN and MSNBC were all foaming at the mouth with love for firing missiles. Dems largely wanted to bomb Syria, it was the right that was against it. Now they've flipped and a majority are in favor.

ISIS just killed 140 civilians in Mosul. Good thing Trump defeated them.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) A week ago there weren't fresh, new images on every media channel in the world of chemical attack victims. It's not an enviable position by any means, I don't know if it was the right move or not. But quoting tweets from 3+ years ago about Syria is the same as everyone yelling at greg about e-mails. His campaign was focused on staying out of Syria. These attacks have existed for years. Guys like Marco Rubio vehemently opposed Obama getting involved. The administration won't let Syrians into the Country. deaths this week just all of a sudden changed that? Come on. Looks like another attack in that town.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:20 AM) Well, he changed in a week. A week ago they weren't going to hold Assad accountable for the atrocities he has done to his citizens, and Obama a week ago was still a fool to even consider doing what Trump is now doing. A couple of weeks ago he cared so little about Syrians that they weren't allowed to escape these horrors into the US.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) Hillary would have been doing the same thing, unfortunately, but with a clearer and more coherent stance rather than the Trump administration's flailing for 24-48 hours. I'm not sure if Russia allowing Assad to be taken out would be in their best long-term interest, though. Would really damage their credibility with other states they're propping up. Maybe Putin wants to eliminate all leadership there and take more control? Not sure. It will be interesting to see how much this actually means moving forward or if it was a 60 million dollar show piece.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) Trump is obviously the 1st person in the history of the world to change their opinion over the course of 3+ years during an escalating military situation. Are TWEETS! the new E-MAILS! Or a year or a few months ago. And tweets have always been public. Usually presidents don't do 180s on literally everything. I'm sure little kids do.
-
Hillary definitely would have wanted to bomb Syria. And congress would have opposed it and Trump would have had a twitter field day. Shoe is on the other foot now.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:45 AM) He went from a civilian with a Twitter account to the most powerful man in the world so quickly and faces this f***ed up situation in Syria. For all his bulls*** and flip flopping, those tweets seem like one of the last places to point fingers IMO. I assume he will also flip flop on letting Syrians into the US? Nice to see the republicans stalwarts come around and admit Obama and the dems were right all along.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) As someone who is incredibly anti-Trump, I think Donald deserves some credit for this response. We can't sit by and simply let this f*** Assad commit war crimes on his own civilians. Hopefully there is more to come here, because Syria needs to be addressed one or the other. He disagrees

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) It's my opinion, not something I would ever say to him. Fans talking to recruits is creepy, I completely agree. But as a fan of the program, I don't buy the nonsense "he's just 18 and a kid" stuff. You can vote at 18. You can go to war and die at 18. Are you emotionally as stable as someone 10-15 years older? No. But you're not a 5 year old either. He knows exactly what he's doing - negotiating for more. The dude has every right to change his mind, but that doesn't make his flip flopping and inability to commit any better. If he continues to flip flop in order to gain an edge in the business side of recruiting, and his commitment continues to mean nothing, then yes, f*** him. The program should move on and not waste any more time on him. He's not an absolute must get. He's not going to make or break next season or the seasons thereafter. It's only one of the biggest decisions in his life...... -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 01:39 AM) You know what's funny? Trump supporters were saying the chemical attack was a conspiracy. So which one is it? Exactly. Seven people were killed by 54 missiles. Russia was informed of the attack instead of congress. Trump is so concerned about Syrian children that he bombed an airfield, but won't take them into our country.
-
So the guy who criticized striking against Syria and his cronies who cried out against Obama wanting to strike Syria are now all for it? Wtf.
-
Greg Rush and Hannity. There is your answer. Rush is further right than anyone on this board and Hannity is Trumps mouthpiece. He could take a s*** on the desk in the Oval Office and call it a success. If you assess him by what he ran on as his platform he's been a tremendous failure. Didnt defeat isis, no healthcare repeal, no wall, no Muslim ban, Hillary isn't in jail, he's failed to nominate 80 percent of his staff, the stock market plummets and so does his approval rating. You think that's good? Using his own definition of success he's a failure. Or a liar. Or incompetent.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) Do you think the Flynn recording fell out of the blue sky? That was individuals in Obama's administration recording him. You're supposed to have a warrant to tap someone's communications. You're not allowed leak these recordings (whether they're recorded legally or illegally) to the press. The left just cries Russia like McCarthyism 2.0 and everything is excused. No warrants needed or laws to be followed because of Russia. So you are saying the government ILLEGALLY monitored those communications without conferring with the FBI, judicial branch and other law enforcement?

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) Yeah I don't really care about money changing hands. Covering up crimes/sexual assault, no tolerance for that. I think MUPD does report all, I think the athletic dept. has been complicit a few times in sweeping under the rug. +1 there. I like increasing graduation and decreasing f***ing criminals on teams. But if someone gets a job from someone? Not sure I truly care anymore. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) I could also give tons of examples of kids who were super highly rated who would have been better off not playing at a blue blood for exposure. Look at Chase Jeter and Marques Bolden who were both 5* kids now transferring out of Duke this year. Or look at Cliff Alexander actually who played limited minutes at Kansas his one year there and then leapt to the NBA anyways and wasn't drafted. He very well could have been much better off getting to play 25-30 minutes a game at Illinois or a similar program (well probably not Illinois with Groce) then he was at Kansas in terms of exposure. Sure, but the top 10 schools that produce NBA players are all blue bloods. And if you see that, the TV schedule and the top notch coaches as a recruit its not hard to swing that way. Iron sharpens iron and playing every day for a marquee program appears to increase your odds of making the NBA. At least thats the sell job. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Not ribbing Illini fans for being upset. Recruiting is a dumb game. Not basketball, but when Mizzou lost out on Jafar Armstrong last year I was pissed. Recruited that kid for 2 years and then he left after a spot opened up on ND. But, my observation wasn't about being upset. I'm not exactly the first person to point this out about Illini fans. 7 footers are obviously a great currency in college basketball, but Underwood isn't going to succeed based off of the play he gets out of Tilmon. Especially for next year, very likely he could get similar production from a grad transfer. Rivals has basically said Tilmon was likely to be downgraded to a 4 star anyway. Basketball is probably the worst recruiting game right now, mostly because of the AAU system. But lets be honest, if your school lands top recruits and you win a natty, do you really care if there was smoke around that players recruitment? Because you are lying if you say you do. UNC just got caught for academic fraud and nobody said a f***ing word during the tournament. And they will still land top kids who do zero schoolwork. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) The left is showing that in times of political craziness that it is okay to bully and prod the lives the lives of individuals on account of things they can't control. Man it seems like Obama being elected was so long ago. He and his family were welcomed with open arms. His daughters are never under fire. Lucky family.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) That really isn't true at all. Markelle Fultz is going to be a top 3 pick after playing on a horrendous team. Washington was terrible the year before and they had two kids who were one and dones and played in the tourney. Ben Simmons didn't make the NCAA tournament. A kid playing in the Big 10 that is good enough to be a one and done will be regardless of the school he is at. The real reason not to play at Illinois the last several years is that Weber is a mediocre coach and a terrible recruiter and Groce sucks. And Tilmon isn't a 1 and done level talent (although he may think he is). There are certainly other examples, but hedging your bets and going to a blue blood isnt a terrible idea. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 01:06 PM) The Illini fan obsession with assuming every player that doesn't choose Illinois is getting paid more is really unparalleled. Anyone who loses out on a recruit blames someone else paying them. -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) Susan Rice was one of Obama's most trusted officials. No one is saying Rice was working on her own or had some personal motive. There's just further proof, after the Flynn leak, that Obama's administration was using the intelligence apparatus to sabotage Trump's presidency before he even took office. I mean come on, you really believe that?

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 06:54 AM) I liked Laurel's Mack truck strategy. That was just crazy. CM is pound for pound very strong but she looked like a baby there. Pretty excited to see the newbies start getting sent home, I'm sick of them. However, where did all of these ladies find dresses like that? How do you find a size that just barely covers up your vagina?
