  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) Gleyber needs TJS....yikes What is even weirder is that it is his non throwing arm but better for the Yankees. I have to believe that the Yankees and White Sox make a deal. Quintana and Frazier make so much sense for them unless they feel like they will lose out to the Red Sox not matter what. They certainly do not have the pitching to maintain their record the rest of the way.
  2. Reynaldo being pulled with 95 pitches. The extra errors hurt him a bit. Honestly really looking forward to his promotion. I don't think it will be long now.
  3. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 10:30 PM) http://nypost.com/2017/06/17/cashmans-trad...an-starter/amp/ He would cost the kind of prospects who would help alleviate some 40-man roster crunch — this is made up by me: Adams, Frazier, Mateo and Estevan Florial. He is just 28 and lefty. Plus, he is under control through 2020, and how his team-friendly deal is structured Quintana would cost just $5.3 million toward the luxury tax payroll next year. The Yankees would have plenty of competition for Quintana, notably from the Astros. But a lot of Cashman’s history points toward him as a real possibility." Florial is another guy that looks interesting on paper. He reminds of Jared Kendell from Vanderbilt with all the tools but with serious bat to ball issues.
  4. I guess my thought is why would I trade him for just a top 60 prospect? He is only 26 years old and just starting to develop his power. Everyone thinks that his average will likely go down due high BIBIP( which is true) but what if his power still has room to grow. He has 16 double on the season what if those start turning into homers. His ISO Power has already gone up considerably. His bat to ball skills have improved as well with his K% dropping by four points. He may never be a guy who walks a ton but to assume that their is no more room for growth at 26 years old is foolish.
  5. Kelly+Weaver+Perez. I doubt the Cardinals would pull the trigger as they are really hurt by the lack of picks. Arguments for Cards doing it. Kelly is blocked by Molina Perez has not even played this year and is likely 3 years away. Weaver is just a duplicate of Flaherty and Reyes is still their number 1 pitching prospect.
  6. Why would the Rays trade Archer in their own division with them being 4.5 games back from the division and 1 game out of the Wild Card. That would deject their current roster and fan base. If Archer gets moved, I would think it would be to the west coast to either Dodgers or Rockies who could offer a premium package. Yankees and White Sox all along would make for a good marriage as long as the White Sox are realistic in what they get back. They would be doing good to get Frazier, Andujar, and Kaprielian. All three have big ceilings with some risk. At this point both Frazier and Andujar are top 100 guys with Kaprielian being a wild card with TJ.
  7. Feel pretty confident Archer goes to the Yankees for a huge package. Tanaka got bashed yet again. Wainwright got destroyed as well. Cards in interesting position with Cubs scuffling. 8. Hell Yeah! Great Double Play Ball. Tommy does it again! He better be in the All-Star Game.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) I would like that move. Anything to see a real CF. Where is Charlie Tilson?
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 10:01 PM) You need teams with deep farms to be interested to get those types of returns. That is correct. You will have the Astros, Yankees, and Dodgers all would want a guy in Kalhne. If there is one thing we learned from the past 2 playoffs it is that you want as many high leverage relievers as possible. Teams are learning in the playoffs having the best bullpen pieces can win you a series. See the KC Royals Run or the importance of Cleveland's pen last year. What I'm getting that is a starter is sometimes brought in for to get a team to the playoffs but relievers can be valuable to teams that don't even need the boost.
  11. If we trade him I want an Andrew Miller Type return with 2 top 100 and a lottery ticket coming back. He is in the class of Chapman, Kimbrel, and Miller. You can make the case he does not close and has not done it for as long but you can see the adjustment he made and the stuff has always been there. If you truly believe that he is legit than you don't settle for anything less. Willie Calhoun is a nice bat but he does not have a position and plays in Vegas which inflates the Home Run Totals.
  12. It really is amazing how patient the White Sox have been with Hansen. It will be interesting to see how well he performs in Class A Advance seeing that Dunning was putting up video game numbers in Kannapolis and has since "cooled off" in Winston Salem.
  13. I just had the same thought. I hope Shields replaces Holmberg in the rotation with Holmberg returning to the pen as a long reliever. He has done an excellent job but they are asking a great amount of innings from the bullpen. We really don't have a starter who consistently goes deep into games with Quintana struggling and Rodon yet to make his debut. On a different point, I am interested to see what they do with the likes of Gonzalez, Holland and Shields at the deadline. I think the Sox would be smart to find a team who would take a salary dump for Shields. Hopefully, He performs well enough to be dealt. Holland could probably net a lottery ticket or 2. I think Arizona could be a good match for him. I would love to see Jordan Guerrero, Tyler Danish, Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Cooper all get shots at starting at some point this year even if it is only a few start for some of them.
  14. Thank you for participating. This year has been fun not only because the big league club has some success but the system finally has some upside.
  15. Just curious, What is his injury and timetable?
  16. Yusniel Diaz got 15.5 million dollars. I have to think the price will be around there.
  17. Our leading home run hitter hurt. Bad luck again for the Sox. We can look back on this as the reason we didn't win the division.
  18. Its nice to see Hansen do well but he should be blowing these guys away. I thought he should have started in High A.
  19. Who do you think gets the call first Fulmer or Lopez?

    Jacob May

I wanted to see what others thought of Jacob May. He like Tilson has an injury riddled past but is having a solid spring training. I know Spring Training are tainted given the small sample size and pitchers are often working on certain things. He is a 25 year old prospect that has some very good tools. He has never really put up the stats to be given a shot at a major league spot but who are we kidding, what is the downside of giving him the nod at centerfield? If this season has anything going for it is that you afforded to give opportunities to guys who normally would be stuck as career minor leaguers. Peter Bourjos is not exactly a viable long term solution. What is amazing about May is that he has never had any power to his game. He plays solid defense and can steal some bases. He does not have terrible strikeout numbers in the minor leagues sporting a 22.4% K percentage last year. The real knock on his game is that he just has no power with only 3 home runs in 750 at bats the past 2 season. I look at his size 5-10/180 according to Fangraphs which this would make sense given his low power numbers. I decided to take a look at his twitter page and some of the pictures out of camp. May looks pretty solidly built with muscle. It could be his swing path is more for grounders given his speed. I was wondering has anybody seen May up-close to see if he listed wrong. https://twitter.com/Jacob_May1?ref_src=twsr...7Ctwgr%5Eauthor My hope is that in the process the Sox are able find a few regular major leaguers who could be starters in the future. Would love to hear some other Soxtalk thoughts on him.
  21. I still have faith with Fulmer but he definitely needs better fastball location. His delivery has so many moving parts that he needs more reps at the lower levels for his age. I still think he can be a number 3 at some point.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:28 PM) There it is. Now if I hear Kenny is going to see the kid personally, I may start to reevaluate my position. There is exactly a zero chance of the White Sox going into a penalty phase if Kenny hasn't even seen the kid yet. He is the final scout in this management structure. I wonder if in a Quintana trade the White Sox could trade for more pool money. A team is allowed to trade up 75% of there pool money.
  23. I am actually more interested in Lopez's start than Kopech. For some reason, I am rooting the most for him to succeed as a starter.
  24. Anybody want to try to get the price. I will say 1-6million bonuses can take it up to 9 million.
