  1. The old baseball saying is "You're never as good as you look when you're on a winning streak, and you're never as bad as you look when you're on a losing binge." Detroit looks bad, but we're only two weeks in. Their gang slump vaguely reminds me of another team in the not-so-recent past, though...
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Then the "vast right wing conspiracy" can then go into a full court press against Obama. Shouldn't they try the neutral zone trap instead? He might find it harder to break, after all.
  3. For those of us who are lamenting that politics have crept into the world of the Olympics, that horse left the barn a long time ago (1936, to be precise). All of us wishing that politics and sports aren't linked isn't going to make it so. It stinks, but that's the way it is.
  4. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) "It’s time for his campaign to get out of the gutter." I'm not proud of it, but I did laugh a little at that line. A most excellent April Fool's joke by Hillary, I should say.
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 1, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) dude, be honest - when did you have respect for her campaign? I was actually LOL. Thanks.
  6. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) I don't know if McCain can bowl, but maybe he should challenge Obama to a match. He can't do much worse! http://www.wjla.com/news/stories/0308/507545.html You know the press has too much time on their hands when this is a national story. I know that's a local link, but it got played for about 5 minutes on MSNBC this morning, apparently.
  7. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) It was taken out of context and I need much more than one clip before I am going to label somebody a racist LOL Nice.
  8. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) I enjoyed the boo birds. If there I would have boo'd. He does have a nice arm though. I'm sick of seeing grown men throw the ball and it hits about 15 feet before the catcher. I would have booed if and only if he had made a bad pitch. Actually, I probably would have laughed. I'm not much for booing.
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) This story makes me angry. How does this happen??? This happens when the people in power are incompetent. It also happens when the people in power are contemptuous of government. Both of which are hallmarks of this administration.
  10. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) <!--quoteo(post=1596878:date=Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:26 PM:name=Mplssoxfan)-->QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) <!--quotec-->A wise man once told me that "cigarettes, whiskey, and wild, wild women are what made this country what it is today". Keep on keepin' on, Bob. Funny! Not my reference, but funny. Of course, the wise man who told me that died of cancer in his early 60's, but that's another story. A good one, too.
  11. Good luck to Doug. From everything I read, he's a good guy, so I hope he's got some good vibes coming his way.

  13. Happy Birthday kap! Fun how the years pile up, isn't it?
  14. You can put me in the "too soon" camp on this one.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) Gravel stole it? Well... I give up then, I've got nothing good to say about him. I wouldn't call it stealing, actually. It's more like it's in the public domain. Lots of people have said it, and no one actually knows who said it first.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) I can't find his exact words, but, here is the paraphrasing by me... "When I first arrived in the Senate hall, I looked around and said 'wow, how did I manage to get here?' Then after spending about a year in the Senate, I thought to myself, 'wow, how did these other people manage to get here?'" That line has been attributed to Harry Truman, among others. It's funny, but it's old.
  17. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) you're friends with Ann Coulter? mr_genius for the win!
  18. I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that there may have been a little alcohol involved.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) What would Kate Beckingsale rather eat than sushi? This is a post that can't really be safely commented on. Though I'd really like to try Pharaoh's Tomb.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) All I could do is roll my eyes after seeing this. I'm pretty sure that was a response to this.
  21. Toronto's not exactly a cheap city to live in, IIRC.
