  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Wasn't he the guy that ran through the wall in the minors? DINGDINGDING! We have a winnah!
  2. I go here and watch a bunch of Postseason highlights. Then I usually go to June 18 and watch the only highlight for that date in the archive. Can't get enough of that one.
  3. I vote in every election, used to go to caucuses, even went on to the district convention after the caucus once. I've given time and money to candidates (in Minnesota, the state will rebate your campaign contribution of $50 or $100 or less, if you desire). I almost missed the primary this year, but as I left my house to run errands, I noticed a piece of campaign lit in my mailbox. Too bad for the guy who sent me that, though. He reminded me to go and vote for his opponent! EDIT: Back on topic. I'm extremely happy for the Iraqi people. I, too, am always proud to vote. I hope the leaders who were elected Thursday are high-minded enough to be inclusive and not pander to their respective bases.
  4. QUOTE(NO!!MARY!!! @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Johnny Jeter Fast as all hell, couldn't hit his hat size. Geoff Blum. OK, Rodney McCray.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) Dale Sveum Or as I like to call him, the Cancer.
  6. QUOTE(ptatc @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Tom Glavine would give him a run for his money. Not a chance. I got to see McCaskill play in college -- he was a damn fine player.
  7. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) .....kirk mccaskill Best hockey player to pitch in the Majors, and a super nice guy to boot.
  8. I haven't read anything else about the Vasquez deal, but I'm thrilled with what KW is doing. He's making intelligent moves which improve the club. It's extremely difficult to win a World Series in this day and age, and to go into next season with the same roster as last year would have been sheer lunacy. When you have a manager who's not afraid to stick with his starters, what do you do? Get durable starters.
  9. The Lookout Inn, on the Pacific side of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Edgar Davids doesn't play anymore does he? I know he plays for Tottenham Hotspur. I'm not sure if he still plays internationally, but I'll check.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) The joke was what am I? Richard Pryor jogging I'm going to hell, but at least I'll finally get to meet some of y'all Remember when he told that one on himself in Sunset Strip? Everyone in the theater I was in gasped. I was using that recycled joke all day yesterday behind the bar. I followed it up with: "I wonder if he'll be cremated?" RP would have appreiciated the sentiment, I think. It took me about 15 years to realize that he had a screenwriting credit for Blazing Saddles. That's how Mel Brooks had the guts to write all those jokes -- he let RP do it.
  12. QUOTE(Credepopsup @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) As an Englishman I'm pleased with that draw. They should finish in the top two quite easily. You should be. I know Svennis is happy.
  13. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) During at least part of the 22 years I was smoking 3 packs a day, I would have disagreed with you. I was one selfish cookie. Hospital rooms. Elevators. No problem. Hey, I had no problem with it. Appropos of your first sentence, who would dream of smoking in hospital rooms today? Anyway, I find it so hard to believe that anyone likes the taste of cigars. Now pipe tobacco is altogether different - I still love to smell that smoke. You haven't been around any truly good cigars, methinks.
  14. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business my whole life and who has been working under a smoking ban since April 1, my .02: 1. It's really nice to go home and not feel like you have to take a shower before you jump into bed. 2. I'm sure my lungs appreciate the lack of smoke. 3. I think, except when I have a cold, my sniffer detects odors a little better. 4. Of course, I have a couple of Zippos at home which are sadly going to rust from disuse. Those damn things paid for themselves the first week I purchased them. 5. There really is no question that my place of employ has lost sales. We're not going to have to close the doors or anything, but fewer sales means fewer hours 6. I may not be able to venture South for any part of our miserable winter, but, hey, times are tough all over. Having said all this, I think a ban will work better in Chicago than here in Minneapolis, where every juristiction has its own version of the ban. Seriously, are you really going to go to Schaumburg to drink? I think not.
  15. Fantastic news about the reactions, Steff. Stay positive; Joey will get through this.
  16. Moving right along... I used to somewhat enjoy the Xmas season on TV, what with the Clydesdales clomping through the snow, Santa riding a shaver, etc. When did I miss the complete takeover of the airwaves by Jewelry shops? If I hear one jingle in particular one more time (hint J.._!..L), I swear I'm going to wring someone's neck. It would probably be worse if I actually knew anyone I wanted to buy jewelry for.
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) ...then what happened??? I swear, I hate it when people start to tell a story and then never finish it. They turned the radar off and drove down the hill to partake in a lesiurely breakfast.
  18. 24, should have been 25.
  19. Wow, that's tough. I'm hoping for the best. Docs can do lots more than we expect, Steff.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Man, you tear down one set of goalposts and try to remove them from an indoor stadium through a revolving door, and you're labeled as stoopid. Sure, you had to bring up that awful day.
  21. On the music channels on XM and Sirius, are there DJ's or are they talk-free. I'd like to know because I'm researching for commercial usage. Thanks for your replies in advance. Even the mocking ones.
  22. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) One man's Big 10 bowl picks: PSU -- BCS OSU -- BCS Wisc -- Capital One Iowa -- Outback Michigan -- Alamo NW -- Sun Minn -- Music City. Again. Damnit. Although it's better than Xmas in Detroit. I generally think that quoting onself is lame, but look how this worked out.
